Clarion Inn & Suites Fairgrounds

I have stayed here two different times. It’s horrid. There is no sign of maintenance. In two visits this is the list of things wrong. Moldy shower curtain. smoke detector battery was bad so it kept chirping, no one to replace it so I had to unplug it. Roach in my room. Tub does not shut off all the way, always have a little stream of running water. Disgusting couch. Broken door. Water stains on closet door. And the worst offender is their joke of a restaurant. It took 55 minutes to get a burger and fries, we were the only ones there. I could not even finish it. Cold, weird texture and some kind of God awful garlic mush on it. If work did not require me to stay here I would never enter this building again. You just don’t feel clean here.

Stayed 2 nights for event at the Fairgrounds. Was first rate. We ended up with a suite, which was 2 large rooms. Clean and comfortable. Excellent room rate. We ate in the restaurant/​lounge both nights and it was excellent. Good food, great beer on tap and the nicest staff. We will be back next year.

We booked this hotel because of the Empire State Marathon. There were a few issues. You can judge.
1) No early check-​in
we rolled into town at noon and wanted to unpack our car and explore the city. We asked what time if any could we check in. We were told 3pm. Okeedoke. No problem. That’s the check in time. 2) waiting.
came back at 3pm. Stood in line for a half hour to check in.
3) parking situation.
got our room key, but was sent to entrance F. No parking outside entrance F. We know because we drove aback and forth looking for it.
4) doors not locked at entrance F
Felt a little rapey.
5) hall smelled and was freezing (it is October)
The reason? There were men ripping out the AC heater units in all the rooms! In our room too!
6)workman called the front desk… from our room which reeks of smoke. He said. He would put our room back together, but we would have to wait. Sorry but, I have a late check in policy. Front desk personnel made no other suggestion.
6)upgrade! We walked from one end of the hotel with all of our luggage into lobby to ask for a new room. There was a different girl at the front desk. She apologized and upgrade us to a suite. That was awesome.
7) MIA front desk.
We wanted to get a late check out so we stopped at the front desk. No one was there, but there was a sign, that said have a seat. Thanks we have places to be. We waited 10 minutes. Then we walked to the car and drive by again. Probably a total of 15 minutes. So we called while we were driving. The girl asked what time we would like our late check out to be and I said 1pm and she said no. The latest is 12pm. She should lead with that, not the open ended question. Ai yi yi.
Having said all of that… the room:
Super small bathroom in the suite.
Nice clean room
Spacious living area with TV
Giant bed with TV
Microwave and fridge
Lots of towels
Hooked me up with a tooth brush.
Overall. Not my favorite stay. The upgrade was appreciated, but honestly it was expected. We’ll stay somewhere else next year.
**we didn’t use any of the amenities… the is only about customer service. They need some help.

I’m staying at this hotel for 12 days. I’ve been here for 9 nights now and I’m very happy with my stay.
Why I rate this hotel 5 stars.
# 1 reason — fast internet.
I travel a lot for work and the speed of the Internet is critical for me and this might be the fastest I’ve experienced without having to upgrade.

— The king sized bed is comfortable
— it doesn’t smell
— everything works
Overall I’m very happy with my stay.

SAVE YOUR SELF THE HEADACHE!!! This place looks decent online but the place is gross. The bedding is super thin like motel 6 quality, there were dings and glue holding together major pieces of furniture in my room and the front desk staff was just rude and they seemed very «over» their job or shift. I stayed in section E and had been assigned a Wheelchair accessible room which the website apparently selected for me… which meant everything was a foot shorter than I was used to like the bed, the dressers, the tv everything. I asked if I could switch and with a whole lot of attitude I was told No. The hallways feel grimey and the side doors that are supposed to be «secure» never closed or locked properly. I actually felt scared staying here. Oh and the black out curtains in my room DID NOT CLOSE! I could see the cars right outside of my window! This place is a JOKE! AVOID IT! For breakfast… all of the cereals were off name brand and since a large lacrosse team or something was there they ate most of the food and everything was certainly picked over and messy. I grabbed two pieces of fruit and decided to just buy breakfast out. This place is awful.

It’s a basic hotel if you need to sleep and shower during a road trip. It was a very rainy day so I didn’t use the the pool.
I stayed in the room mostly and slept comfortably for 8 hours and then showered before leaving. It’s a nice place to take a break from driving cross country or whatever. It was very empty and quiet, maybe because it was off-​season (no state fair in progress) and also in the middle of nowhere so expect to drive at least 15 mins to get anywhere; avg 35−45min.
The room was very clean and nice. There were no odd smells in my room (225). Maybe I had the updated room, I dunno. Shower and bathroom were very clean as expected. Bed was very comfortable and they gave like 5 pillows. My room had a nice couch to sit and chill on but I didn’t use it. I went straight to bed lol. It came with a nice and large table and tv stand thing to put your stuff on top of. The counter tops weren’t wiped with a disgustingly greasy film like some other low budget hotels. Mine also came with a refrigerator for free… Maybe that was a mistake. Due to my short stay, I didn’t use it.
Oh yeah one thing that I noticed was, it didn’t have any elevators! Keep that in mind. Also, the main lobby has a different entrance vs the doors to your room… You will have to move your car around the building to the side. Staff was pleasant with me. They were nice but not overly nice.

F all the way. Our room was disgusting. I posted pictures for everyone. Don’t stay here. We stayed in section E. The door to enter had no working lock. The room was horrible. Torn curtains, disgusting bathroom. We went to get our free breakfast the next morning and waited for the hostess to seat us as the sign instructed. We waited and saw no one. I went to the nearby desk and spoke with The manager in duty, Harry Patel. He said the sign is for the restaurant. I said that is the restaurant. I said you should move the sign. He scoffed, bad attitude. I went and moved the sign myself bc folks were standing and waiting be seated. He shot me a dirty look. Dude I pay your salary as do other guest. The attitude is unacceptable. I urge you not to stay here. $ 197 for one night during the NY State Fair. I feel totally violated.

Hotel was fine. Nice room. Restaurant was great. The 16 oz char broiled rib eye was fantastic – perfectly done. As good as I have ever had. So was the salmon. Service was superb, as was the Syracuse ale on tap. Second year that we stayed here for an event at the Fairgrounds, and the restaurant was first rate again, a hidden gem.

Most pathetic hotel I have ever stayed in. Wash basin sink in the bathroom was choked and they didnt have any maintenance person to fix the situation. Water temprature keeps on fluctuating and reason which I get from front desk is probably many rooms are using it. Ofcourse many rooms are using water ita freaking bath time. They dont have curtains in the room to block the sun rays. You need to get up with the sunrise.
They dont have manager on site until late. And staff is not at all courteous.

Stayed here for 4 nights and was pleasantly surprised. This chain isn’t normally my preference and I was a little hesitant so I booked a «suite» and hoped for the best. I arrived late around 10−11pm and was greeted by a cheerful associate who was polite & professional. I’m thinking we are off to a great start. My room was nicer than I expected. I could nit pick a few little things but its not the Ritz Carlton but better than I expected from a Clarion or any Clarion I stayed in the past. Get the upgrade it’s worth it. The room and bathroom seemed clean, everything worked, including the wi-​fi and the bed was comfy. You can hear people as they talk while walking down the hallway but not a big deal. Anytime I passed an associate they went out of the way to say hello. This place exceeded my expectations and I will stay here again.

This is a two-​star hotel and deservedly so. The lobby is pretty and seems to have been recently done, but our room was very shabby. The place smelled slightly damp and the carpets also felt slightly damp. The facial tissue cover broke in the (fanless) bathroom when we removed a tissue. Shower head was not adjustable from a pounding stream. The housekeepers didn’t wash out our coffee cups nor leave us a new bathmat.
However, the staff is very cheery and pleasant. While I was exercising in the small fitness room, the motion-​activated light went off and a passing housekeeper opened the door to reactivate it for me, then later in the lobby asked if I enjoyed my workout. Because of a local event and our late booking, the inn was nearly sold out and our room very expensive. It would be ok for $ 50, not for the $ 125 we paid.
