Tony Marquez Pool Plastering

At the recommendation of my pool guy, I called this company — 3 times over the course of 2 weeks, never received a call back, even though I spoke with the office staff twice. Nice way to run a business.

Tony Marquez did a great job! They were very professional. The pool is beautiful. We will definitely use them again.

Called multiple times to schedule appointment, receptionist said someone would call me back but no one ever did.

Tony Marquez did our pool in October 2013 that had been permanently covered by the previous owner for 15+ years. We went with the Pebble Tec, Pebble Sheen finish. They also installed new coping, tile, plumbing and a split drain per current codes. They were the most reasonably priced of the 3 companies we got quotes from. We got a quote from M. Preciado as well as American Pool Plastering. We received the best price from Tony Marquez and were able to negotiate the price with them. We also had a better experience with the rep we met with compared to the other two companies. I see a lot of bad reviews and a neighbor on my «next door» app said they had a bad experience with Tony Marquez 18 years ago when the brothers took the business over from their father. I assume their work ethic has improved because we had a great experience.

I had several bids on our pool project. I selected Tony Marquez company because of their knowledge and fairness. John Marquez came to my house to give me a bid. I listened to his suggestions and there was no sales pressure. The job was finished on time and each member of their crew was very professional. The office staff especially Lorena, was extremely knowledgeable and courteous. My pool is thirty-​one years old and look brand new. I am more than satisfied with the entire job and would highly recommend this company.

The Tony Marquez team just finished the replacement of tile in our pool. Or experience, from start to finish, was excellent. John Marquez met us on a Saturday, to accommodate our schedule. Within a couple days, we received the estimate which we felt was a good value. After picking the tile but being a bit unsure, John offered to pick up some of the actual tile and bring it by. John arrived with the tile we chose and a few others. After seeing the tile we picked in the actual environment it would be used, we were sure of our choice. Nine years ago, we had Tony Marquez apply a PebbleTech finish to our pool. The finish is as nice today as nine years ago. Through the years, this has been company I’ve trusted and recommended to many, they’ve yet to let me down!

I am also one to check out Unilocal reviews when having work done at my residence. I did use Tony Marquez Pool Plastering to re-​do my pool even after reading all the reviews because, they came «Highly» recommended to me. I couldn’t be happier they were professional, clean and always on schedule. My pool looks great!

I wasn’t pleased.
The performance of the product seems to be good, and does not seem to possess any problems. I was extremely pleased with Denise, and the girls in the office, with whom I only dealt with over the phone. Very good office team.
My displeasure was a result of my personal, face to face, experience with John Martinez, Vice-​President, who was less than professional is his business dealings with me, in both conversation and actions.

Looks like a lot of poor reviews in the past, but I had a fantastic experience. Started the job on time and finished the job on time. Pool looks fantastic — mini pebble finish is perfect with specs of sea shell. Looks better than expected. All for a great price. They did a great job protecting the surrounding concrete work, driveway and home from dust and dirt (laying down yards and yards of plastic). But like a woman giving birth to triplets in a Ferrari, you are going to get something on the seats no matter how careful you are. Plan on a little cleaning and polishing afterwards. Overall, I recommend.

Worst company I have ever dealt with! Denise is extremely rude and they tried to charge us double what other companies charge for the same service. There are multiple companies out there offering the same service and I highly recommend you try those before spending any time and energy talking to these rude rip-​off artists!

The Unilocal PTB recently removed my review because they believed it was a personal attack, so I am posting another review about this outfit to make my experiences known.
In the past, I’ve had business dealings with Tony and his wife and to this day he still owes me money. I’ve called many times and they refused to pick up the phone and they’ve never returned any of my calls. I would say that this is poor business practice. I’ve long since given up trying to collect but consider this a gift because I’ve never tried to collect through small claims court nor taken legal action. It’s not worth the time and effort. My only recourse is to give a poor Unilocal Review.
Based on all the One Star Reviews this outfit receives, it should tell you something about how they operate and what kind of people they are.

More of the same as the other reviews. OK work… push to get your money, people show up unannounced or off the schedule and wander around your yard. Don’t expect a good job, privacy or any follow-​up. Unfortunately one of the view certified to do pebble-​tec so make sure they know what the deal is but for YOU go to a reputable company like Skinner and get the job done right with the customer service to go with it. I got my repairs to their work done through a claim on thier bond.

I have been looking at the lousy job Tony Marquez did on my pool fifteen years ago… for fifteen years. Now, I’m finally looking for someone to redo it and since Unilocal didn’t exist then, I’ll write a review now. The job looked like krap after a couple of months. One of Tony’s kids came, looked at it, said he didn’t see anything wrong with the pool (it looked like it had leprosy), and left without further comment. I still see their truck once in a while and wonder how in Dog’s name these guys are still in business.

Probably one of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with. Like a lot of contractors, they started out great but, unfortunately, after the contract was signed and they received my money, things went downhill very quickly. Communication with them is impossible, they do not return phone calls, they order less material than specified on the contract and they do not follow the job specifications that are clearly stated on the contract. Even the owner, John Marquez, who promised that he would oversee our remodel «personally» because of all the problems we have had, and who gave me his «private» phone number, doesn’t answer his phone and doesn’t return calls. This company is a nightmare. I contracted with them because they are a licensed Pebble Tec installer. If you absolutely «have to have» the Pebble Tec brand, find another installer … don’t use this one.
