Amazing public transportation system. Why there needs to be a cost/​time ratio on the front page of the website speaks to the culture of LA and Southern California. Why do we need to be convinced? This is great.

I’ve used the Sylmar Metrolink station more than a few times and every time has been a pleasant experience. It is clean, well maintained, plenty of lighting, with lots of free parking. The riders were helpful to a newbie such as myself, mostly they are professionals, students or people who work downtown. There are also vending machines alongside the automated ticket machines should you need a drink or snack. Both the buses and the train seem to run on time (sometimes a few min early). Many take the train from here to the Lancaster station (last stop). Always a pleasant experience.

I’m writing this to warn people, be careful about leaving your bike here. I locked my bike up on one of their racks then rode the train and when I came back somebody had stolen it. This was the first time I’d locked my bike up there and I guess the last time. They need to put a nice bike storage facility like Burbank station has. Such a shame, I usually have good experiences at this station. Oh well, what can I do but report it…

What this Station has going for it is they have tons of parking, never had a problem and there is no charge. There are plenty of automated machines to purchase tickets using cash or cards. The only issue is you do get your occasional drunk or stinky person on drugs, but I have always felt safe and they don’t really ever bother anyone. There are lots of buses that start and end up here, and the train seems to always be on time. Really what else can you want in a station?
