Joe Chavez Garage Doors, Gates & Remodeling

Jamie from JC Enterprises reached out to me a few days after my original Unilocal post to discuss some of the issues I raised in the review. I had previously exchanged some emails with someone at their office named Denise, who had replied that the owner appreciated the feedback I provided so at first I was puzzled why someone else contacted me regarding the same feedback. Jamie apologized about the experience I had and reassured me that my concerns were addressed directly with the installers, who apparently claimed he was unaware that he had knocked down my wall clock. She said that Joe Chavez personally offered to reimburse for/​replace my damaged wall clock, which I appreciated but declined. Jamie also offered a certificate for a free 6 month tune up, during which they would also reinstall my keypad to the original location. (She offered an earlier service visit to relocate the keypad, but I was fine consolidating the relocation to same appointment as maintenance call.) I appreciated the followup and their effort to help make up for the impression from the previous install experience, and look forward to having the keypad relocated to the correct position when I schedule the maintenance service in a few months.

I have used this company twice now. First time to replace broken spring (got both replaced). and the second time my 15 yr old opener finally died. Both times I received the MOST excellent service and price than I have ever got in my life. That is no exaggeration. If you ever have a need for such service, I’m telling you. You CAN’T go wrong. Oh, and I must add that each of the times and at my request the tech came to do the work the SAME day and within 90 min of my call! They are the best!

We’ve been having some problems with our garage door. It would never shut completely and often would simply open once it hit the ground. We called Joe Chavez and within an hour we had a professional on site to give us an estimate. At first the problem seemed like the motor needed replacing and we scheduled it to be replaced the next day. This morning the Joe Chavez folks came out with a new garage door opener, however they decided to take one more look and within minutes solved the problem. They could have just replaced the motor and I never would have known, but they were honest, polite, kind and just plain good people. Saved me a ton of money! Thanks guys!

I called on November 02, 2015 and set up an appointment for an estimate this week. A lady called back the following day to ask more questions and to confirm the appointment date and time. The appointment time came and went by and they did not show up or even call to say they weren’t going to make it. I don’t think Its good business practices to have potential customers wait at home for no reason when they aren’t going to show up.

After this review, they called me back to set up an appointment. They gave us a two hour time frame and said they would be there to take measurements. On the day of the appointment, we waited for two hours and they didn’t show up in the time frame they said they would. After two hours we left to run errands because there was no telling when they would show up. They called me back and said the employee who went said we weren’t home and also said he had shown up on time. Unfortunately for them, I have a camera facing the front door which proved he didn’t show up on time. I let them know that the camera disproved what their employee told them and they told me they would speak with him and make sure it didn’t happen again. After this, I should have just cut ties but I decided to give them a chance to redeem themselves.
About two weeks later, in mid-​December, the gate was installed and painted. The fit and design was good but that is the only positive thing I have to say about them.
It’s been about 5 weeks since the gate was installed and it looks horrible. There are rust spots all over the gate and it looks terrible. I emailed them pictures of the rust on the gate assuming they would say that was abnormal and they would fix it. They replied and guess what?! According to them, it’s normal for a gate to be full of rust spots after a few weeks. The lady said the gate is made out of iron and when it rains (we live in SoCal-​we hardly get rain) it is normal for it to rust. She goes on to explain that they recommend customers to «touch up paint every 6 months to a year.» Well it’s been less than 6 weeks and this gate already needs a new paint job. If I lived near the ocean or In a rainy climate I might be inclined to understand her reasoning, but seeing as we live in so cal and it’s rained all of 3 days since it was installed there is absolutely no reason for the gate to look horrible. She also said that the paint isn’t warrantied but they would come fix it but after all the bad interactions I’ve had with them I am going to have it professionally painted.
It makes absolutely no sense for them to tell me it’s normal for a gate to be full of rust spots after a month. I understand it’s made of iron but that’s why you put paint over it so it doesn’t rust. Apparently they either did a bad job painting it or used low quality paint. This gate is covered by an awning so it doesn’t get rained on directly. I have another gate which is completely exposed and guess what… Yep you guessed it… It has all of ZERO RUST.
Buyer beware… If you’re okay with your gate looking terrible after a few weeks and then having them tell you that it is normal for that to happen, this is the company to go to. After paying almost $ 1500 for a gate and being told it’s normal for it to need a new paint job in just over a month is ridiculous.
Please look at the pictures and see for yourself what they consider to be normal after a few weeks!

I started communicating with this company online here on Unilocal… which is where I found them. From getting on online estimate with Denise to talking with the technician Mynor my experience was great. The installation of my automatic gate opener went smoothly and I am very happy with it. I like to use simply professional services like Joe Chavez Garage Doors. After visiting one of the bigger door retailers I took the time to do some web research and came across previous rave reviews for Joe Chavez. I liked the tone of the person who answered my call and quickly worked out a time for the free estimate. The technician arrived on time with an assured and happy demeanor. We discussed options and he gave me a quote which was thorough and fair. My wife and I took a few days to decide before I called to order the door. I continued to receive courteous service when scheduling and paying for the service.
It was the same technician who came out to install the door, which is always assuring to me. He worked quickly and left me with a well-​installed, quality product. I am over all pleased with Joe Chavez Garage Doors. I got what I needed with no up-​sell or delays. The door works great!

So I saw an ad for Joe Chavez garage door in Craigslist originally and from there it led me to Unilocal and the discovery of the Unilocal deal for his company. I called on a Sunday and Joe answered the phone immediately. He asked me send him some pictures of the repair that was needed. He got back to me immediately and quoted me a price range that was very fair. We needed an early morning appointment and his tech guy was out at 7 AM sharp the next morning! (he was actually a few minutes early!!) The problem with the springs was fixed and they honored the Unilocal deal without issue. Overall a great experience! Much more affordable than other companies I contacted. Don’t hesitate to give Joe Chavez a call!

I was recommended to them, and I was so glad I used them!!! Not only were they honest they gave me a complete explanation of what went wrong with my door, and want I may need to look for in the future!!! I would highly recommend them them to anyone I know! The are hard working and a very honest company!!!

While shopping around to get my driveway gate repaired I called a couple of other companies with decent reviews, but when I called JoeChavez I realized I was being quoted ridiculous prices. Their team was fast, professional and honest. What more can you ask for?!

First of all the Manufacture was confident to refer them to me and I can understand why. I used them to replace a section on my garage door. I spoke with someone on the phone that gave me options for install, they fit the budget, was on time, Mario that came out was great. He worked fast told me about some other issues I had and looked out for me. I happen to be the HOA president and was confident to refer them to our property management to replace our currant vendors we used for our garage doors. I even got a follow up call after the service was rendered too. I would be happy to do business with them again.

Joe Chavez service was great. I called and they sent a guy named Mario. He knew what he was doing. He immediately knew what was wrong with the door. He fixed in about 45 minutes or less. Mario was extremely nice and polite. For some reason after he left, I had a problem with the door again. I called and Jamie answered very polite and sent him back. When Mario came back, the door was working again and he made sure I had no problems. Days later, they called me to make sure I was satisfied with the service. They have reasonable prices and excellent customer service. I’m very happy I found them. I recommended them to my neighbor because they stand behind their excellent work :)

My original idea turned out to be too pricey for my budget. After working with me to find something else that was still great, we scheduled the job. They came on time and did the work well.
The new door is beautiful, opens easily and even came with a sensor that stops automatically if anything goes under while its closing. So much better than our squeaky old one. And we won’t squish the dog when she runs around the garage. Major plus!

Our garage door had not been replaced in ages and we were shopping around for a reliable and trustworthy company to replace it. My husband and I decided to give these guys a call after a couple (what seemed like high) estimates from companies we found in the advertisement magazines.
The Chavez garage guys arrived on time, were very polite (not pushy), took measurements, and gave us a great quote with various options. We felt so comfortable with the process and decided to sign the contract the same day!
A week later, the guys were back, punctual again, completed the job in a very timely manner, swept the garage, and wiped down the new door. We had very little disturbance and the new garage door is immaculate!
The door quietly opens n closes, the gaps on the sides have been sealed, and my SUV trunk door doesn’t hit the ceiling anymore :-)

These guys are awesome.
I called Joe at 1 AM (sorry Joe!!) because I had work the next day and Joe still picked up. Got a call from him the next day at 8AM and he gave me an approximate time of 9 – 10. His guys (Benjie & his son) came in at 9AM and were done by 10AM. Turns out there were 3 different problems about my garage. They fixed it within an hour. So glad I found them on Unilocal.Thank you!

I want to provide an update on the customer service review. The company did send me one of the bids, they were very apologetic for the delay, and even offered me a discount.
As a potential customer this is a great start to rectify the miscommunication. If I choose them to do any work I will provide feedback on the work they produce.
But for now I do appreciate the call backs and updates!

Joe Chavez Jr is great!
had our garage door installed by them close to 11 years ago and had them come twice for small service and repair. the last time i called them last minute after the door got derailed off the tracks and explained them that i need it ASAP as it a security issue, they sent a repair man within 2 hours that did a complete service, repair a cable and replaced couple of bent rollers for $ 140.00.
great service, couldn’t be happier!

Our garage door needed servicing and would not shut completely. I called Joe and he had someone out to my house in 45 minutes. His technician was friendly, thorough and examined our garage door system from every angle before he leaves to ensure nothing was missed.
Again, reaffirmed that Joe and his team are the real deal.

Great service all around… They came out on time gave me a reasonable estimate for a new garage door. They told me it would be about 2 weeks to get door in. They called me as soon it arrived and had it installed on a weekend thanks!

I called and within a few hours they were able to send someone for an estimate. I gave a $ 100 deposit up front and within a few days they completed the install. I didn’t even have to be home. They were in and out, clean job and installation! I only got 1 other quote from another company and Joe came in about $ 100 cheaper for the same type of garage door.
