Budget smog test & repair in Sylmar and/​or Lakeview Terrace is run by a CROOK named Nick.
Sure, he lures you in with slick ads and special discounts posted on craigslist but then, he pulls the old bait and switch.
I brought in my ’92 Volvo for a simple smog test. But, once I start asking questions about the equipment he provides his services with, and the calibration of it, and his membership and affiliation with the State of Calif. Bureau of Automotive repair, he gets real nervous and won’t provide consumers with ANY answers — not even the BAR number associated with his repair/​test station.
THIS IS A HUGE RED FLAG. His unwillingness 2 provide full disclosure is a sign that he has something to hide AND a sure tail sign that he’s been either sued or had fines levied by the state for ripping off consumers.
Then, he asks me, «are you with the state?» as if I’m a spy for the bureau… lol. Then, he proceeds to refuse my patronage based on discrimination and the fact that I ask too many questions.
This establishment is a joke and is NOT legit.
A word to the wise: STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!
I hesitated to give this smog test station even ONE star.

Great service. Nick is friendly. I called 5 minutes before coming by and was in and out in 15 minutes.

I’ve brought 4 cars to this place and I don’t plan on bringing them somewhere else. The owner, Nick, is fair, honest, and very friendly. The shop’s location is very strategic, it’s off the ²¹⁰⁄₁₁₈ freeway. You can drive your car back and forth the freeway to get it to operating temperature before doing the test.

Nick was friendly and efficient when testing my ’03 Element for renewal. No issues, but I expect he would have helped me deal with any should they have arisen. I plan to go back when the need arises in the future.

Excellent service and a fair price. Nick (owner) was professional and friendly and got the job done quickly. There was a minor issue in that the receptacle where the technician connects the computer analyzer was pushed up out of view on my car. I had initially gone to a test center that was closer to my house, but the technician claimed he was unable to perform the test because of this issue. He told me that I would have to first remove a panel under the dash. This made no sense, as it was clearly a factory panel. Nick was able to locate the receptacle and pull it back into place. I highly recommend this place.

Good. Cost $ 55 for my 95 Camaro. Nick is the owner. He seems very knowledgeable. Don’t know if that matters for a smog check place. He is very courteous. Service is important no matter where you go.
