Clark’s Tire & Automotive Service Center

I was driving through the area on a long trip and needed some emergency repairs. They had me back on the road in only a few hours in spite of the serious work required. Professionally done at good rates.

I wanted to really like this place. Close to home… they even gave me a ride to the train while they serviced my car. BUT, I can’t. Here is why:
1. They charged me $ 56 to change three lightbulbs. I don’t think I need to say anymore to that other than, «Seriously?»
2. My car is running really rough. All I got was an inspection and an oil change (for which I was charged $ 150 WITH a coupon), and I can’t figure out what they did to it to make it sound so awful. I am guessing they will probably charge me another exhorbitant fee to take a look, so I am going to have to find another place to fix whatever they did.
Again, I really wanted to patronize a local shop. But when you overcharge me and return my car sounding worse than when I left it with you, I’m not taking another chance with you.

Big fan of these guys. Terrific customer service. 3^rd shop I tried on a Saturday morning to get an inspection, and the only one that seemed to want my business. Super work at a totally reasonable price. I told them I wasn’t from around there and they happily gave me advice on how to get the most out of my old-​but-​low-​mileage car when it goes in the garage somewhere else. Really pleased with how these guys went above and beyond for me and my aging auto.

I have shopped around over the past 3 years at various repair shops. When I take the car to other shops, I tend to find myself back in there with the same problem the next week. When I take it to Clark’s, the problem is gone for good.
As for them trying to «scare» me into fixing fictional problems, I haven’t had that experience at all. When my old station wagon needed a new rack and pinion, the recommended I first shop around town for a used car, so that I could compare the cost of a younger vehicle against the cost of repairs.
If I decided not to fix the old vehicle, they would lose out on hundreds of dollars of income, but they kept my best interests in mind and made sure I didn’t do the repairs until I had time to look around. They let me leave the car at the shop for 2 weeks while I looked. This is the kind of considerate, good-​hearted experience I have had every single time I enter their doors.
My conclusion, having visited many shops in the area, is that they aren’t the cheapest, but they are the best.

I agree with Brad G. These guys try to scare you into buying expensive repairs. My boyfriend went in for an oil change and was told he needed 4 new tires, apparently they had hairline cracks?!! Sadly, he bought into their lies. I went in for an oil change and they informed me that I needed to change my timing belt and that it would cost me $ 500! I said no, just do the oil change. It has been inspected since then (at another shop) and they never once reported a problem with the timing belt and its been 2 years now! These guys are rip off artists!
