Great coffee, service and breakfast. Best French toast, ever. Like the vibe and bagels.

Not sure why this is rated so high. $ 34 for three items– soup, sandwich and juice. Matzo ball was really terrible. Not your typical. Pastrami sandwich was bland and not worth $ 14. The only thing decent was the handmade fresh juice… really wish I could get my money back. If I ate in, I would have asked.

All the stars were for the tuna latkes, which are truly outstanding. I’m glad we went here, just for these. But to be honest, we were a bit disappointed with our other dishes. I got the corned beef hash, and the scrambled eggs were dry and a bit overcooked. The potatoes were uninteresting. I went through and just picked out all the corned beef, which was fine(not life-changing). When it comes to Jewish deli cuisine, I’ll stick to New York.

One of the best finds of my south beach trip. I stumbled on this place through Unilocal. What a treat! The sandwiches were incredible. The fresh pressed juice, the best. The Truffle fries. Amazing! This will be a must go to stop every time. The place is small, make reservations. But its worth the food.

A new-age hipster take on traditional Jewish deli food, Josh’s deli runs with the motto«deli food gone wrong» but they are truly doing a lot of things right. My wife and I were staying at the St. Regis Bal Harbor and we’re looking for a big deli breakfast to satisfy our craving. We read reviews for Josh’s and decided we needed to go. After walking by the location a few times(sign is very small) we finally located the hidden gem. We sat immediately at an open table but were not greeted by a waitress until about 5 minutes later. We were then provided menus and perused over Josh’s take on some Jewish classics. Feeling like we couldn’t go wrong with any choice we both chose the three egg meal that comes with a homemade latke and we substituted our toast for a fresh hand-rolled bagel. Being a juicer I also appreciated the restaurant having several options for fresh cold-pressed juices. I selected my favorite: carrot and apple. Our food arrived several minutes later and we immediately dug in. The scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked and topped with what looked like parsley. The latke was deep fried and absolutely delicious. The real star of the plate in my opinion was the fresh hand rolled everything bagel. You could certainly taste the freshness in each bite and my only request was that the bagel never ended. Josh’s deli didn’t get the 5th star because the service was a bit lacking. Our waitress, while very kind, was clearly overmatched dealing with 5 – 6 tables all by herself. I would recommend having at least a 2 person wait staff to better accommodate Josh’s growing fan base. I would certainly return to try the latke with ahi tuna and Siracha cream cheese.

Pretty chill spot to get breakfast/lunch. Small space inside. But, if there’s only a few people in your group, you can sit at the diner’s counter or opt to sit outside(weather permitting, of course). I had the corn beef benediction, which was pretty good. Nicely poached egg, flavorful corned beef pieces that tasty more like beef jerky. Lemony hollandaise sauce on top. My friends had their house cured salmon and three eggs platter, and they seemed to enjoy it. Cappuccino was ok. Not the best I’ve had. Overall, not a bad place to spend your morning or afternoon.

Awesome Jewish comfort food with a modern twist! Came here with some family and friends visiting from NY for brunch and got to try a little bit of everything. HUGE portions makes up for the slightly higher prices. The place is tiny and cramped, but the chef, Josh himself, makes everyone feel welcomed. We sat at the bar behind the flat top so we could watch everything being made. Started off with MONSTER latkes topped off with a slice of baked apple(a fun twist from apple sauce) I had the Lamb Benedict which was out of this world! Super fresh and lighter than I expected. My dining companions had the surf and turf breakfast burrito(which I did not try but it looked fantastic and humongous!); the corned beef benedict(which was super tender and delicious); and a pastrami sandwich(best pastrami I’ve had so far in South Florida). All in all, great experience and I hope to be back to try their octopus and grits!!!

Hidden gem! Super friendly staff and laid back atmosphere. The décor is really nice and works well for it being a pretty small place, and the food… wow! Didn’t love the saki Bloody Mary but then again I don’t really like saki. The spicy tuna latkes on the other hand are AMAZING! 5 stars!!!

Rave reviews have been generous for this little spot in surfside. You come in crushing on the feeling of the place as it’s very homey. I was guest #2 for the morning as they just opened up at 8:30am I ordered my espresso and ordered the benediction and a cornbeef sandwich which seem to be the online favorites. The namesake was maning the kitchen which I thought was cool in the open kitchen. He may have been behind on his prep or something or he really has focus on fresh eats because he was still working on batches of bagels and topping them off. 20 minutes in he decided to start on my benediction. I didnt see any fresh cutting of the beef or anything but at the moment the dish made it in front of me it was less than exciting. Eggs Benediction: Bagel: Great Potatoes/hash: great Corn beef: dryyyyy. He threw water or some fluid to reheat it on the skillet but it was dead… Hollandaise sauce: nice and lemony but barely on my dish Eggs: overcooked. I was looking for yolk to ooze all over my hash. This moment would never come. 30 minutes in he was trying to work on the only other table’s order of smoked salmon when I decided to 86 the sandwich. To which he instructed the waitress to give me 10% off. A set of parents and 2 kids sat down and walked put in all this time because the kids were hungry. A Josh’s «first name basis» guest which was the only guest prior to me had a fresh juice and also 86 his Chow Fun order he had made earlier and said he may come back later. I didn’t expect to be blown away but the food and service wasn’t as homey as the décor. I’ll definitely try it again but not running over there.

One of the best hidden gems in north beach! Everything is handmade, seasoned and perfected in this open kitchen airy eatery! They have a diverse menu with wonderful selection of deli favorites and fun spins on hearty classics. The corns beef hash breakfast platter was DIVINE. Great large portions and full of flavor. A Must visit! Will be coming back even if only yearly during vacation, worth the flight from NYC

I was looking around online on a Sunday morning and found out that this place was open early(8:30) and offered an eclectic breakfast menu. I have been here before for lunch and was impressed with the food & service so this is a brief review update. Ordered the popular Corned Beef Benediction. Nice presentation & big portion as well. Fresh made in-house corned beef mixed w/potato, onion, peppers, topped w/poached eggs & hollandaise. A hearty breakfast indeed and worth ruining my diet :) As always, the service was friendly and they are more than willing to explain menu. Will keep coming back to try Josh’s other unique creations.

Simple, subtle, almost unnoticeable but the simplicity is what makes these dishes sing. There’s no fanciness here but the taste is top-notch. I understand Miami has famous chefs’ restaurant from around the world but when you want something just damn good while you sit outside on a stool and bite down on the best smoked salmon you’ve ever had then this is the place. I really could be completely happy going here every morning during my Miami vacations and that says a lot for a chick who dislikes routine.

While shopping in Bal Harbour I came across this great Jewish treasure, in Surfside, called Josh’s Deli. This place has deli-style food that is as good as any, anywhere. The place is small, the chef seems to be the owner, and service is a little slow around noon time, but boy do they turn out some good food. Sandwiches are great and the serving sizes are large, so visit with a big appetite. I chose the Jewban Sandwich, which consisted of pastrami, pork, pickles, mustard and swiss cheese. I cannot describe it further, you just have to try it.
Josh’s is a great addition to the beach and worth the effort to search it out, unless you are as fortunate as I and just stumble upon it.

Perfectly Poached I stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant while I was photographing Surfside Beach in North Miami Beach. This was my first time at Josh’s and also my first time visiting Bal Harbour. It’s a gorgeous little place, beautifully decorated. Josh and a lovely server were still preparing for the day when I strolled in. She charmingly recommended the corned beef benediction for breakfast, and I could not refuse. It was a good thing, too. The benediction was delivered shortly thereafter, my coffee was still hot and steamy. What delighted me most were the two perfectly poached eggs perched on top of the mound of corned beef, home fries, and onions. It’s sooo hard to find perfect eggs these days. I threw a little Tabasco on it, because I like things spicy ;), and then made quick work of the dish, scraping it clean. Guess I was pretty hongry. I did not linger for very long, and the little place was filling quickly as I left that morning, but Josh took the time to chat with me while he prepared the next meals. I will definitely eat here again, it’s the type of place you go out of your way for. Get there early before the rush, plus it’s a nice and peaceful way to start the day.

Oy I love this place! Being a new transplant to Miami Beach via NYC, I’ve found in general the food to be bleh *all the same* and customer service to be snobby. Perhaps this is why Josh’s deli is everything to me right now. Great food, with a brunch menu that changes every weekend. I had the tuna latkes with siracha cream. Really I could have that every day of my life… no really perhaps the best thing I’ve had since I discovered donuts… that good it beats donuts. I also had the eggs Benedict which where something out of this world since they include bagels made fresh by Josh(again my mouth is drooling). The Boo Thing and I got seats right in front of Josh in action and I have to say whether he realizes or not he puts on a great show. Imagine watching food network live. He’s also gracious and welcoming as is all of his staff… I mean EVERYONE greets you when you enter… like long lost friends. Ps his staff give awesome recommendations and descriptions of what the food tastes like… so ask if you have questions, they’re not going to respond with the typical Miami«it’s all good, I guess»

I have had Josh’s Deli on my radar for awhile now but never had the perfect excuse to make the drive up to Surfside for breakfast. After running a half marathon that started and ended on the beach this past Sunday, I knew this would a sure bet! The place itself is quite cozy with not too many seats to spare and an open kitchen so you can see the cook at work with the help of only a couple other people. When it comes to food, the menu is also small but just about every dish sounded like it could hit the spot on this particular morning. The six of us all ended up ordering something different(always a win). I went with the smoked salmon platter which is one of my favorite breakfasts. It came with a house made everything bagel, cream cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, capers, pickled onions, and a hard boiled egg. While I enjoyed this lighter option, I also had bites from everyone else’s plates(gotta love good friends). Now, this place will teach you a lesson in closely reading a menu. What was written as «Oatmeal» was actually described in the sub print as fried chicken salad with waffles which was absolutely delicious. Besides that, I loved the soft shell crab and pork reuben which was just as savory and indulgent as it sounds. For sips, I had a delicious cappuccino, while my friends raved about the fresh squeezed OJ. This area isn’t known to be cheap so this breakfast was definitely on the pricier side than your regular ol’ Jewish deli. That’s ok though because it isn’t your regular jewish deli. Josh is really elevating the classics with a new modern twist, while his servers are super attentive, ready to fill water and coffee glasses at any moment. I can’t wait until I have the chance to come back here. Just hope I don’t have to run another 13.1 to do it!

After staying nearby for a long weekend in Surfside, my friends quickly decided Josh’s Deli was their favorite brunch spot. Unfortunately I only got to try their Reuben, but that in itself was great. * Reuben — 4 stars pic: Crunchy toasted bread. Oily, but what Reuben isn’t? The best part is the meat: everything else ratio. Not too much coleslaw, just enough cheese, enough bread to hold it all together, but the true star is the MEAT. And it’s cut into super thick, chunky pieces. Fatty. Tender. Delicious.
