Brix Sunset Beach

Came here for lunch because I had a groupon. The service is excellent! Very casual with really great food. We started with the garlic fries and potato skins. I would come back just for those.
The garlic fries come in a huge basket and are enough for six people, and the potato skins are big and one is enough to make you full. I ordered the chopped salad with ranch and it was one of the best salads I’ve ever had. Others had the BLTA sandwich and the BBQ burger. Both were very good. The housemade chips and onion rings taste fresh and are perfectly seasoned.
Limited parking, especially on nights when they have events. They’re a little pricey but it is worth it as portions are all huge.
I totally recommend it, especially if you like cobb salads like I do.

Groupon brunch as part of my wife’s birthday weekend. 11am today, Sunday, we were part of the first customers and watched the place gradually fill the tables. Big thanks to John the bartender, manager, receptionist, server for making our visit one of the best experiences we’ve had at a restaurant! High-​five to Leah (sp?) for making the best loaded latke’s I’ve ever tasted! 5-​star service, atmosphere, and food!

My husband and I have been here multiple times (with and without groupons) and we really enjoy it. Good food, good service, and good wine (we’re not big beer drinkers but our friends seem to like the selection). We like coming here and wish we lived closer.

I loved the live music, it was a treat. I loved the food Especially the garlic fries but it was a weird layout. The band location was awkward. Depending on where you are you can’t see them. The kitchen was far from other end of the room. It probably should have been in the middle of the restaurant where the bar is. The parking spaces are limited. Luckily we pulled in at the right time. Anyway I highly recommend garlic fries.

The garlic fries was to die for. My daughter liked the sweet potato fries. Our waiter was very sweet and cute too! I would give $$ for value however everyone please note that the food was delicious. Ambience was pleasant since we were there when they opened and there were already 4 tables seated with customers. Our main course were the kahootz and the bratwurst.

The food is okay but definately NOT the best pastrami in the world. Stop it…
Lagers Deli in LA (7^th and Alvarado) is hands down the best pastrami in the west coast. Not the shaved stuff…

Horrible! We ordered our food an hour later it never came. Our drinks had to be ordered 5 times before anything got to the table. An hour after waiting for a salad we decided to leave because it was painful to watch the horrible service

My family and I made reservations here today to celebrate Mothers Day. We learned that Brix is under new ownership. The atmosphere is friendly and they provide live music. We enjoyed the music, but our meals for the price they charge were just ok. The tri tip, chicken, and sweet potato fries were overcooked, but they did serve a good burger. If I come here in the future it will be to meet friends for a drink and listen to some live music.

Purchased the Groupon and we’re so glad we did! We’ve driven by many times, but never stopped. Now that we have, we’ll be adding this to our go-​to list. The Cobb Boss sandwich is absolutely delicious. My boyfriend ordered the pastrami and he couldn’t stop talking about how flavorful it was. We also shared the sweet potato fries. They were the best sweet potato fries we’ve ever had and the sauce they come with perfectly compliments them. Service was great!

I’ve had a good sandwich at Brix. The service is always spotty. They could do better. It’s expensive but the Groupon is decent. DO NOT ORDER WINE!

My band Wight Litening has played here several times and I’d heard that the pastrami sandwich was very good! Well yesterday we played there, a Sunday afternoon, and I decided to give it a try! OMG! The best pastrami sandwich ever! Now the beer selection and the wine selection are way above average and I did have a pizza there before and it was delicious too, but I am still craving more pastrami sandwich!!! If you are ever in the area, stop in and give it a try! Everything I see looks good! The service is great, the people are all very nice, and be sure you say hi to Tina, the manager! Happy eating!

Got a Groupon and came for lunch. While I live local, I had driven by many times, but never stopped in. Well I’m glad that changed!

I had the soup and half sandwich, both great and my friend had the chicken sandwich with homemade chips. Everything was delicious! Finished it off by sharing yummy canoli dessert.

Stopped here on a layover in LAX. Wonderful small wine and craft beer bar. Large selection and I loved the live music. Really happy with the service, there were only two waiters for the whole place and they were still very attentive. Great prices for LA area! Small salad around 5, most glasses of wine were 8 – 12

A hidden gem that apparently I’ve missed in my 28 years in OC. I booked this place for Valentine’s Day, not knowing what to expect except possibly live entertainment during dinner. Brix happened to be hosting a 1-​man Frank Sinatra performance that night and the fellow was spot on and very talented. The ambiance, the food, the servers, even the new owner Matt were so cordial and welcoming. A great little restaurant/​bar close to the beach and conveniently located off PCH. Awesome selection of beers on tap, and for lunch was told their pastrami is what makes them famous — so I’ll be back for lunch!

Great food and nice beer selection! If don’t want a beer that’s on tap they have few doors coolers with awesome craft beer!
We had the large pastrami & the Cobb Salad sandwich. Both love the food, and great live band called Legends! Wonderful time at Brix tonight!

Came for a Saintsbury Wine Tasting last night. Live music was awesome. For food, we had an array of things. The garlic fries and the bruschetta were both so good. I also got the spanish harlem flatbread which was amazing. Hummus platter was so-​so. My plate they gave me for the appetizers was a little dirty still, although they promptly replaced it when asked. The wine tasting was fun and a great selection. Good atmosphere. We’ll be back.

Last night’s Comedy night was the best!!! :)
There were at least 20 comics and 18 of them were hilarious! The remaining were good.
Some past week’s have had about half and half, but last night was great! Very funny!

Incredible food and selection of beers. No matter what your taste in beer, you will find something to satisfy you here. I am originally from the east coast, and the food here reminds me of home. The pastrami sandwiches are incredible. If you love pastrami, do yourself a favor and try it. They have burgers, chicken and pizza too. Oh, and don’t forget about that clam chowder! WOW.
It’s a cool location, right on the beach, with a very chill atmosphere. They have live entertainment almost every evening There is something for everyone. My favorite night is the comedy night on Wednesday. It’s a combination of an open mic and a booked show. It’s a fun and diverse show. You never know what you’re going to see. I highly recommend Brix– but especially the Wednesday nights!

My friend and I stopped in looking for a good burger and found it, had a burger with garlic fries and beer… Left happy and satisfied.. Customer service was also really good, very friendly will be back to try the Wine side

I came here after kayaking and I ordered the The Mitzvah which was a corned beef sandwich. It was kind of dry when I had it and it came with garlic fries. I liked the garlic fries more than the sandwich but the fries was very little.
Service was good though. The waitress came by to refill our waters.
It looks like they have a good selection of drinks too but it’s more of a typical pub.

We popped in here for a drink last Saturday night… The place was just about ready to close but they let the 5 of us in and it made our night. We talked with our server (Nick) and the owner while we were there, both were very nice. The place was very clean and it was a great atmosphere. They even let us try some Soju before we left, thanks guys!

Great place to listen to a little music by the beach, have a drink, and relax. I just love it there! It’s kinda one of those non pretentious, casual meeting spots… with a wine area and a beer side, good music and good food!

After hearing great things about Brix, I finally decided to give it a try. This place has a great atmosphere and a really cool vibe. Expect live music and some good wines or amazing craft beers. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable and rather than just listing off the different beers, he took his time by asking questions of what type of beers we prefer and recommended accordingly.
Although we didn’t get to try dinner, we ordered the onion rings to go along with our beers and live music. Their menu looks amazing ranging from unique bar snacks, appetizers that included Whacked Wings and Pastrami potato skins, to New York deli style sandwiches. I’ve heard their pastrami sandwich is the most popular item. I’ll definitely be back to start working through the menu.
They mentioned that throughout the week, they have Sunday brunch, paint nights, and live comedy. Check them out!

Nice selection of craft beer, but what a ripoff! $ 8.50 for a 10oz pour of Stone Ruination 2.0? That’s obscene. Most places do a pint for $ 7 – 8.
Food is OK and staff is friendly, but owner must be a greedy bastard to charge those rates. Probably won’t be coming back.

We went in at about 7:30 on a Sunday night and the place definitely wasn’t empty. We were helped at the bar right away, by very friendly staff. We were offered samples of their craft beers, which was also nice.
I got the corned beef and my boyfriend got the pastrami, both were amazing. The garlic fries were also very good!
We continuously were asked how we were doing by the two staff members who were walking around throughout our visit; and both were more than nice with great personalities.
Great experience at Brix! No complaints.

Mmmmmm pastrami!!! Came in with a Groupon for 2 sandwiches and a flight of beer. They have a large selection of beer, and just got new beer «tasting» glasses! :)
I ordered the «Fuhgeddaboudit» with garlic fries and my boyfriend ordered the «Associate» with sweet potato fries. Both sandwiches were delicious and loaded with pastrami. The sweet potato fries came with a cilantro avocado aioli that my boyfriend couldn’t get enough of. (It really was good!!)
I got a flight of wine. The August Ridge Pinot Grigio and the Matua Sauvignon Blanc were great.

Nothing beats the location of this joint. It is nestled right in Sunset Beach only a stone throws away from the ocean.
The owner is awesome and full of energy, which makes it great every time I go back.
My go to is the Fuggetaboutit, a delicious pastrami sandwich. Everything about it is so good and it’s nice to eat a solid pastrami sandwich that isn’t stacked a mile high.
They also have a great selection of beer and craft sodas to go along with your meal.

Before you come here, check Groupon. They have deals going on once in a while. Brix is located on PCH with a small parking lot in front. There isn’t much of an atmosphere inside to speak of, but if you’re just there for a sandwich and a beer that shouldn’t matter too much. There is also a separate wine bar room which I think is only open at night. You can also sit on the outside patio. The two times that I have been there, servers are very nice. I found it cute how the menu has a lot of Jewish named items with definitions. Definitely added to the vibe.
The food is pretty good. I am not a huge fan of pastrami but I did enjoy the Fuhgeddaboudit which is pastrami and cole slaw with their Brix deli sauce on Rye. Corned beef is also popular. You can choose how much meat you want inside of it. Additionally, I enjoyed the fried pickles. These were long spears that had a nice crunch with great breading that didn’t fall off when you bit into it. The second time I had the sandwich it was a bit soggy. Be sure to try out a beer flight, as they do have a great selection. Overall I would come back if I were craving a sandwich in the area but wouldn’t go out of my way.

I’m confused. We came here with some East Coast friends who are visiting.

Really dark and depressing inside.
We sat in the corner by the restroom, on the bar side. The other side was empty.
The first thing I noticed was it stank of stale beer.
The second thing was a random box on the floor I had to step over to get to my seat. I tripped on it later when going to the restroom.
Third, dirty table.
Waitress was very sweet but proceeded to bring our menus without cleaning the table.
We asked the waitress what was good for some apps. She recommended the dirty fries. I asked if they were like poutine. She didn’t know what poutine was…
They definitely were different. The fries themselves were not great. The «dirty» part was random pickles on top of cole slaw, with a little meat thrown in.
She also recommended the Chipotle Chicken Flatbread. The red onion was raw. I don’t recall chicken being on it but I only had a couple bites. The crust was like a cracker. There was like a ranch dressing drizzled on it. I’ll pass.
Great beers here. This is a dive bar that’s good to meet people, watch a game and drink beer /​wine. Then dine elsewhere. The hype about the food is confusing to me.
It must be because there are not many good places to eat in this area. I’ve come to Huntington Beach many times and lived in OC. I realize I’m spoiled in LA as far as excellent places to eat. If Brix were in Los Angeles, there is no way there’d be a high rating.
Again, lots of great beers here. The food was subpar in my opinion.

If you’re looking for a CHILLAX’in place for food and drink LOOK NO FURTHER! I came here Saturday night with GOTEB because I was hungry, GOTEB was hungry and I wasn’t about to pull out a pot and cook anything, plus we both wanted to do something different! So to my Unilocal app I went in search of something near the beach where we would not run into anyone we knew… HOPEFULLY!
This place came up in a couple different searches so we decided to see what they had! All the food pics look PRETTY GOOD and the reviews were decent so GOTEB was on board.
When we got there we noticed that is was both a wine bar on one side and a reg Pub/​bar on the other side. There was also some live entertainment as well on the wine bar side and NO seating so we walked over to the bar/​pub side and found several seats open! SCORE NO WAITING!
This place was UBER beach casual, a lil dark, wooden community tables and some high top tables as well as a bar you can sit at! We picked the community table near the wine bar door. They already had menus on the table so we perused it and a wait staff popped up said hello and asked what we wanted to drink. I figured I’d keep it no-​alcoholic since I had to be up early the next day and I need to be alert and not dragging! GOTEB surprisingly also went the route of AA and got a Sprite. I thought for sure GOTEB would get a beer since they have SEVERAL on TAP! Since this is a pub/​bar they ONLY had soda in a can and no tea or lemonade which was fine with me.
There menu was pretty extensive for a pub/​bar which was REALLY NICE so I had ACTUAL choices. We stared off with the fried pickles spears and the Schnitzengr0ben which is a trio of gourmet sausages with sautéed bell peppers and onion served with jalapeño-​honey mustard. I apparently didn’t read the part about jalapeño because I was dipping it ALL UP IN the mustard! Mouth burning. I wanted to break out and start singing:

I will say they were BOMB-A-LICIOUS…SLAMMIN! The fired pickles spears were also REALLY GOOD! GOTEB LOVES SPICY so I suffered alone in silence while one lone tear roll down my cheek. J/​k it wasn’t that bad but it was FRICKIN SPICY! The food here DOES NOT come out with any sort of reasonable speed so be prepared to wait! GOTEB was still hungry so we got a burger and decided to split it with some slaw! I saved mine for later but GOTEB INHALED the half a burger. It again took a month of Sunday’s to get the ONE burger. I guess that is to be expected in a pub/​bar. It didn’t really bother us too much since we were chatting and watch the game on tv.
One thing I did find disturbing and maybe I’m just olé school was that there were 2, count them, 1, 2 KIDS in the PUB! I thought ok maybe a pub is NOT a bar so I looked up the definition. And according to Marrian-​Wester dictionary founded 1831 by brothers George and Charles Merriam and still widely used today.

Now please tell me WHY and WHEN has it been ok to bring a child to a bar? REALLY! ARE you FRICKIN KIDDING ME? If that was not bad enough NO OBDY had ANY issues with the TWO kids being in a BAR! Even the wait staff engaged them in conversation. The little girl got up and walked over to WINE BAR side and was dancing was some olé lady and everybody thought it was the best thing since slice bread! I know parenting has changed but 7 and 5 year olds DON’T belong in a BAR! You can save your comments and messages because it’s MY OPINION so I’m NOT interested in your rendition of I don’t understand and times have changed!
Over all aside from it being a bit weird to see KIDS IN A BAR I LOVED IT! The food was GOOD, Service FRIENDLY and NICE, menu selection EXPANSIVE and if your into beer they have a quite a few on tap as well as will let you taste them before you decide or you could do a beer flight! I here they have AWESOME pastrami!
Parking is on the premium side because it’s located near the beach but it’s worth parking and walking over for a relaxing evening!

This is a chill spot where you can expect live music and some good wines or craft beers. My friends and I came Saturday afternoon and had some fantastic chicken wings and garlic fries. We particularly enjoyed the Pinot noir –old soul. Yum! What a treat. Fries were perfectly crispy and wings were tangy with a kick but not overly spicy. The pastrami sandwich seems to be the most popular item on the menu but I didn’t have a chance to try it. Nevertheless, the neighboring table guest couldn’t stop complimenting how much they loved the New York deli style sandwich.
They have live music every Thursday through Sunday. It can get busy sometimes so call ahead to reserve a table!
