Kingshead Pub & Restaurant

My wife loves this place. She always gets fish and chips. We sat at the bar and the wife enjoyed bantering with a couple of Brits nearby. We both got fish and chips and I thought it was quite good. At some places the fries are greasy or soggy. Here, they were quite tasty and properly done.

We went to this pub when my son was visiting from Hawaii with his girlfriend, Sara who is English. In Hawaii so most of their restaurant choices are Asian so they are always happy to come to Florida for the wide range of dining choices. We were in Plantation and were hungry so we checked out Unilocal for any good restaurants in the area that we all would enjoy. Kingshead had great reviews so we decided to go there. The food was very good. We were all happy with our choices. Sara and I had the fish and chips which were fresh and crunchy. My son got the steak pie. He loved his too. All the food went down great with a couple beers. I came nowhere near to finishing my food but my son was happy to help me out.

If you miss England Pub culture, walk in to Kings Head. Typically British. The crowd, the juke box music, and don’t miss out on Fish & Chips.
I place I strongly recommend to anyone.

We went here for the first time last week and loved it. Our server Joyce was friendly and courteous. I had the fish and chips and loved it. The rest of the party had the burger and the steak and ale pie and they both loved their dishes. The atmosphere is nice, the tvs are not overpowering. We will be back.

I had a Steak and Ale Pie, whereas my friend had the Scottish Pie. Both were delicious! We liked the relaxed atmosphere and the pub environment, but it’s more suitable for smaller groups than large ones. The prices were reasonable, and the portions were sizable. The only negative is that there aren’t healthy menu options (but who cares? it’s a pub!). I look forward to coming back here soon.

We’ve been going here for over 10 years and I must say it’s like a second home. Everyone is so kind and a couple of experts have my Strongbow on the rocks pouring when I walk in.
We typically start off with the banger bites. They are absolutely perfect 9 – 10 times… Sometimes they are left to cook too long and aren’t great. Kids still eat them, because anything is palatable with some malt vinegar and brown sauce.
The fried mushrooms are REAL mushrooms, not that canned garbage, and they are so good. A nice little horse radish sauce comes with them.
The fish and chips is ALMOST as good as you would find in a chippy on the other side of the pond! Great size and those hand-​cut chips are delicious.
The steak and ale pie is full of flavor! We love the peas and mashed potatoes that come with it, too.
The cottage pie is equally as delicious. (American shepherds pie)
The burgers are ground in house and full of flavor. The onion bits practically fall out of the patty and don’t forget to add an egg and a piece of English bacon.
The curry is soooooo good. It’s typically a medium orange sauce served with rice, a poppadum, and a little English salad (peppers, celery, onions) kids love the little veggie mix and poppadums so we order extra :)
The Guinness beef stew served on chips or spuds also does not disappoint!
The proper English breakfast is exactly like being back home, but don’t expect it on a busy Friday night because it takes up four burners to make!
We’ve had more dishes but those are our favorites!
We’ve also ordered some of Chef Sarah’s pies, delicious!!! You place an order and she calls you within a few days when they’re ready! Chicken and mushroom, chicken Chardonnay, steak and mushroom… Heavenly pies!
We truly can’t say enough good things about the staff– Sue, Liz, Val, Paula, Sarah-​Joyce– we love you. We also love Jeff, but he’s busy at the new location in Pompano these days!
There are also so many regulars that are now friends, Danny and Patrick, you’re the best!
So check it out if you want good English food and great hospitality!

Yes. On vacation. From Kansas and looking for some good food and a beer. With some help from Unilocal and reading many reviews desided to come here. We ordered the fish and chips. Excellent. Enough for 2. And ordered the mushrooms my husband’s favorites. They were awesome a big plate we couldn’t finish. Live band. We had a great time. FYI my first post!!! Had a great time.

While back in the area to visit my grandfather, hubby and I managed to eat here not just once, but TWICE in one weekend. On Saturday night, we brought my not-​quite-​grandmother. She lives in the area and her neighbor has recommend Kingshead on several occasions. At my suggestion she had the fish and chips. She cleaned her plate and declared this the best meal she’d had in months. I had the Guinness stew and hubby had steak and ale pie (again). Both were very good.
On Sunday, hubby and I came back by ourselves for dinner again. I had fish & chips this time and I forgot what hubby had (cottage pie?). I was too busy eating my entrée to pay attention to his food. It was so good! Crunchy breading on the fish, without being greasy. Fish was perfectly cooked too.
We’ll probably be back the next time we visit the area.

We’re back, and I had the steak and ale pie. AGAIN! Why? Because it’s an f’in delicious Guinness beef stew stuffed in a chewy soft pastry crust… that (guess what) soaks up all that delicious stew flavour. Can I go wrong? Am I sorry I didn’t order something different? No, I stole food off my dinner guests plate too. See that Kingshead? You made me a thief and I’m regret nothing. Everything was delish.
Also things you might want to know: main dishes sometimes better than sides. Beer is fantastic. And this is a dark, local joint with its own flavour and lots of fans. Come here to drink while an Arsenal game is on and enjoy the crazy.
I live there states away and I came back. It’s that good. 5 stars!

Go only for the beer and the pseudo-​British atmosphere, not the food. Parking is difficult in run-​down plaza, Uncomfortable seating because tables and large chairs are crammed against the wall, usual TV sports distracting, loud chatter and a musician trying to be heard above the dinn. Beware of hidden charges on your food bill for «extras.» The house wine is the cheapest he can get away with serving! Forget it if you want to relax and have a good beer. Lots of other pubs in town with better.

We are in town for a week visiting family and found this place on Unilocal.We absolutely loved it! Our bartender Sue was incredible! She was so sincere and you could tell all of the regulars adore her. We would go back just for her!
As for the food, we were very impressed as well. We ordered the spicy beer battered mushrooms and they were really good! The batter was perfect and there was no grease at all! We each had the fish and chips and it was outstanding! Of course we had sticky pudding for dessert and it was out of this world! Thank you so much Sue!

Great local bar. Eclectic groups of customers at the bar lend it self to spirited debates on current topics. Friendly bartender and delicious food. I had Bangers and Mash during my last visit. The Guinness gravy makes the whole dish come together.

Best British pub in the area they have a great variety of beers from Europe and amazing traditional fare from some of the best chips I have ever had to their cottage pie. It is a great place to meet up with friends for a beer or even just stop by in your own after a long day on the job. The staff is courteous and attentive. Kings Head has never disappointed and I will continue my patronage of this pub

Fish & Chips, Fish & Chips! We were a party of four and ALL of us, independently, chose the Fish & Chips. None of us were disappointed. Nice and crispy outside and light and flaky inside and great flavor. I LOVE malt vinegar and my wife prefers tartar sauce. Either way the fish was delicious! The chips, meh. They were tasty but none were crispy. Still, the fish made the meal. I’ve had Fish & Chips in England as well as many other places. This one ranks up at the top.

Excellent place to get a properly poured pint of Guiness. The crowd is very mature and non-​pretentious. Fish and chips are also very nice to have.

It’s kinda divey & located in a strip-​mall. Very friendly staff tend bar at this British pub knockoff. It feels like a small town take on the pub, which is better than a chain’s but it’s lacking in quality.
The menu reflects the style and there’s a nice selection of taps & bottles — no hard stuff.
There’s 2 tiny bars to saddle up to inside but only one was open when we went. There’s a few dart tables set up in the other area.
It’s demo definitely skews older (50+).

Was in the neighborhood with a friend ready to eat at another local establishment only to find it closed. We had noticed this pub immediately and truthfully we were a bit leary to try it. Naturally we Unilocaled it to read the reviews. Most of the reviews are decent but knowing some of our friends had been here we opted to give it a try. The outside, although colorful to me is a bit uninviting because of it mysterious look. Upon entering all mystery is laid to rest and your eyes adjust to all the décor that surrounds this friendly pub. At the time it was half way full but immediately I could tell that most of all the customers were regulars because the server/​bartender/​hostess called them by their first name. There was only one girl up front playing all the roles I just mentioned. I have to say she did an excellent job at helping us all in a very friendly efficient manner.
We both chose the fish and chips. I’m not the best judge of fish and chips but I really liked them. My friend did too but was not impressed. I really liked the tartar sauce, I’m assuming it’s made fresh but don’t quote me on it. So in conclusion, yes I will come back if ever in the area and yes give it a try you might like it as well.

I have visited the Kingshead twice for lunch and found it to be okay both times. The bar staff are friendly and attentive. The food is okay — pretty instantly forgettable. The fish and chips is perfectly edible, but really nothing like genuine British fare. On my last visit we were disappointed that many of the tap beers were not available (right before NYE, strange!). One day I’ll try this place in the evening and see if being a bit busier makes it a more authentic and enjoyable visit.

The food was so-​so the last time I visited. Plus, they were out of all the drinks I wanted. Service is nice, but I don’t come here for that.

We decided to try something different for dinner, boy was different good! Started with a Newcastle ale and split a bowl of clam chowder and beer batter mushrooms. The clam chowder is very thick and hearty and served with oyster crackers, very delicious. The mushrooms were very hot but once they cooled enough to eat they were crunchy n the outside and juicy in the middle. The wife ordered Sarah’s Steak and Ale Pie which she said was absolutely a delight and very tasty, had to get a box because there was so much food. I ordered the Big Babes Beefeater Sandwich. What a great sandwich, the gravy really makes it! Finally for dessert we had the Maple Bacon Pudding, wow! What an unusual dessert, sounds a bit odd but it is worth the entire trip just to have it.
We will be back again to try some of the other real food this little bit of London has to offer.
