H & R Grill

My wife and I have been trying to find good Haitian food in the area since we moved from Miami. We decided to try this place for lunch. The food is pretty good but not the best that I ever had. I had the Tassot and my wife had the Griot. The Tassot met my expectations. My wife’s griot was good but I thought it was slightly over cooked. We both had the beans and rice which was pretty good but we both felt that it was missing something. Overall, the food was good and we will be visiting again.

We went on the 26^th of December. Place was clean. No one was dining in, but there were 2 other people who were waiting to take their food to go. (Seems like everyone gets their food to go) ppl kept coming in and out. There’s a white woman there that took our order. She was semi nice. Had a slight attitude when I asked for an extra pikliz (that I paid for) hubby got griot, my daughter wanted wings, and I got turkey in sauce. Hubby hated the griot. It had no flavor! It wasn’t seasoned or marinated. Our rice And beans had no flavor as well! Thank god for the little containers of sauce to save the poor rice. I had to season my rice with salt. The pikliz was disgusting! My dtr loved the wings and my turkey was good. We’ll be back to try the American food next. We’ll stick to our other fav spots for our haitian food.

Ordered a large groit complet mean & told them I didn’t want fat/​skin & was only given that. The rice was horrible. Being that I drove 40 minutes from Miami to this place & back, I was highly disappointed. I’ll stick to the restaurants in North Miami & Lil Haiti

My lil sister bought me some food from there again, but it was not as tasteful like last time. The black beans need more favor and they do not provide alot of meat.

I love finding hidden Treasures and I am happy to say I found another one today. Omg the grio was perfect. Fresh, tasty, and authentic. I didn’t expect this walking in there since it was kind of empty for lunch hour on a weekday but I guess I probably got there right before the rush, well I hope. I will definitely be back. As a Haitian, I highly recommend this place’ it’s authentic and affordable

Clean Venue, Great Food, Awesome & Prompt Service During Dine In Experience. No Complaints!

I get the grilled tilapia w/​rice and beans w/​fried plantains. But whether you get the tilapia grilled, fried or en sauce, it’s awesome!

The owner is very nice and remembers me by name. I love that!

The first thing that greets you as you enter H & R Grill is a sign that says «Attention All Customers Take Out Meals Are Not To Be Eaten In The Dining Room». The signs are posted in several locations in the restaurant. The service, while polite, isn’t anything to write home about. The diner-​style breakfast is decent, but nothing special. They have – on a separate menu that they bring out when asked – a Haitian menu as well. They were out of fried chicken when we ordered it, but we were offered griot.
I’m giving them an extra star for the Haitian menu, which deserves attention!

Second time I order from this place and I’m not pleased! This time, I had an extra ingredient on my plate! By ingredient I mean HAIR!

Went here because my 1^st choice didn’t have the griot ready and they advised me it would take 30 minutes and that was a buzz kill being how hungry I was. The portions are small and the owner assured me that 12 ounces. In arriving home I weighed it and It weighed at 8 ounces. The tostones were not fresh and very hard. The food did taste good but the service isn’t and the integrity of the restaurant is bitter cold. The owner has a arrogant touch to him and comes across with it verbally. Customer Service is about respectfully serving the customer and they have a hard time understanding how to effectively do that.

Really wish I could’ve tried their breakfast today, but I am thoroughly happy with their sandwiches. I had a half buffalo chicken sandwich for $ 7 and my boyfriend had a full Philly cheesesteak for $ 9. All I can say is holy portions! Everything came hot off the grill, made to order. They serve breakfast until 2 every day, so we will try to get them another day. Place was clean and homely. Staff was friendly and attentive.
It’s located in a little plaza a little north of Oakland park blvd, on pine island drive.

Need a minimum of $ 10 to get delivery, although my job is 5 minutes away. Got my food and the eggs had spilled all over… not happy w this place.

Second time I’ve been here. Staff is very friendly, very diverse as well. Our waiter was so sweet! The food is good too! There aren’t many Haitian restaurants in Broward so this was a treat. Thanks HR!

It is always strange and unnerving to walk into a restaurant that is completely empty of customers. This was the case last Sunday lunch. However it was immaculately clean. The décor is sparse and you can tell it’s all about the food. Which was actually pretty good. We had the chicken griot, a burger and a steak sub to go. Portions huge. Burger very thick and fresh tasting. I loved the french fries — crispy without being greasy, I took them home (couldn’t eat them all) and to my surprise they all reheated fine over the next couple days. Which almost never happens.
The service was also good — quick and friendly. The only issue I have is that I had an amazon voucher which I intended to use. Should have shown it right away, but since I had gotten a reminder email from amazon two days before to use before expiration I thought all was fine. This was not the case. I was told they were no longer accepting it. No rhyme or reason and the manager did not come out to talk to me about it. Had I known I would not have gone up to the $ 20. Partly my fault, but I wish they had had a sign on the door informing people of this. That would have been simple enough. It’s ok — amazon worked with me but it was not pleasant.
Food 3 stars. Service 2.5. Overall experience brought it down to 2.
In a nutshell, the food and service was good — I just have mixed feelings about returning. Although I probably will.

This is a quiet and friendly little diner. The people are very nice. The food is delicious. It is a good place to enjoy an unhurried meal. The prices are very reasonable and the food is seasoned very nicely. I really love their ranch sauce and their French fries are amazing. They make a very flavorful philly steak.

Great little restaurant/​diner! Clean and friendly! Excellent breakfast! Large breakfast ~lunch~ dinner menu! Located in a strip mall. It’s worth looking for! Reasonable prices. When we visit this area, we will definitely be eating here!

Food is just amazing!!! My fav is actually the grill chicken avocado salad. Must visit at least once. You won’t be disappointed!

This is my favorite place to have lunch from! They deliver which is convenient, sometimes there is a wait but they let you know ahead of time. I never mind though, it is worth it.
I always order the same two things, either the Breakfast egg wrap with jalapeño, onion, bacon and cheese or the Greek Salad with Cajun Chicken. The salad has plenty of toppings and more than enough for one serving, i always share. My co-​workers order from there as well and no complaints!

Agree with the other reviews. I prefer to support the small local businesses also. Breakfast today for 2.99 incl coffee, 2 eggs, potato and bagel. Great! Had lunch there a few days ago which also was quite good, so thought I’d head back for breakfast.
Place is clean and folks are friendly.
