Description

Specialties

The Fox Observatory located within Markham Park houses many great pieces of viewing equipment. The primary observatory equipment consists of our 10 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain @ F/10 mounted in the outdoor dome, the 14 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain @ F/10, the 6.5″ Brandon Refractor, three Dobsonian reflecting telescopes, the largest being 13in (330.2mm) in diameter. Both Schmidt-Cassegrain are frequently fitted with CCD imagers to offset the effects of light pollution. Apart from the observatory’s scopes, many of our members have scopes of their own. On a good clear night it’s possible to have as many as 15 telescopes setup in various places around the observatory.

Groups and individuals from the area or visiting South Florida are invited to see the Fox Observatory. In addition, anyone wishing to attend the association’s monthly meeting is welcome and encouraged to do so. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month, and membership is open to the general public.
