Welcome to the Tulip Kids Inc. family of companies, including Tulip After School, and Tulip Kids Academy (Child Development and PreSchool Center) with five locations to serve you. Our Directors have more than 15 years of combined experience caring for and teaching children in the San Francisco Bay Area. Fulfilling the needs of families, a high level of parental satisfaction, and the efficacy of our programs have resulted in our amazing growth. Virtually all of our growth has come from «word of mouth» as parents tell other parents about us and children tell their friends about «the awesome place they go to after school». What sets us apart from other child care, schools, and enrichment centers is our dedication to nurturing «the whole child». We believe that children should be encouraged to learn as much as they can, and in order for them to enjoy learning, and therefore more likely to become life-​long learners.

History

Established in 2005.

Ms. Deepti founded her first proprietary venture, «Tulip Large Family Day Care» in Sunnyvale eight years ago, which was an immediate success. The Directors of Tulip Kids are proud to announce their new location to cater to a larger demand for quality childcare that is fully licensed and started operation in August 2013.

Deepti M.

Business Owner

Ms. Deepti’s undergraduate degree (Liberal arts) and postgraduate diploma (interior design) were accomplished in Mumbai, India. After arriving in the USA, Ms. Deepti decided to pursue her life-​long interest and passion for child care and education. She began her formal ECE training and soon after, jumped into the first of many volunteer services, with a Child Care Center in San Jose, CA. Convinced she’d found her true calling, Ms. Deepti founded her first proprietary venture, «Tulip Family Day Care», eight years ago, which was an immediate success. This led her and her partner, Ms. Sneha, to embrace the challenge of a second venture, «Tulip After School», which has also grown by leaps and bounds, due to their unwavering commitment to provide the highest level of quality family services, along with their talents for creating warmly nurturing, richly varied, challenging, but fun learning environments for children.

My son attends the new pre-​school on Mary Ave. in Sunnyvale. He absolutely loves going. The staff is caring, friendly, and very productive. My son went from being at home since birth to this preschool and it has been a pleasant and easy adjustment.
At this preschool you will find the teachers put a lot of effort into making art projects creative, fun, and appropriate for each child’s age and ability. The effort put into making their environment organized, fun, caring, and enjoyable for both parents and child applies here. I highly recommend this preschool.

Our almost four year old has been in Tulip for about a year now. They truly are like a home away from home for him. He has always been an outgoing and friendly child, and we wanted a pre-​school that would nurture that. We also wanted a place that was not just academic and focused on the creative and had a play-​based curriculum. Tulip was the one place we found that had what we wanted and was reasonably priced as well. Our son had some initial adjustment issues and Ms. Nanda (who has since left) and Ms. Evelyn were great helping him get settled in. They also helped him learn to take naps (which is a huge milestone for him as he is a light sleeper and always fought to take naps). Now, he takes a nap on his own at the scheduled time, even during weekends when we are home.
They have small group activities, free play time and outdoor play time. They also have a huge room where the kids can run and play on rainy or hot days. Its a good mix of structured learning and self-​exploration. I love the different activities they do with the kids. I believe my son’s class is now learning about the life stages of a butterfly, and he is excited to come home and tell me all about what he learned in school.
What I truly like about this place is the openness with their communication. Pick up and drop off times are busy for the teachers (imagine trying to handle a bunch of kids and have a conversation with a parent), but they still manage to have a quick chat if you need to. You can always tell them in advance if you need to have a longer conversation, and they make time. Ms. Nikki, the Director is always there if you want to talk to her. At one point, when our son experienced some anxiety about going to school, we had a long conversation to discuss what could be bothering him, and came up with solutions. She also communicated with his teachers and ensured that everyone was on the same page. You can tell that she loves her job!
Parental expectations out of pre-​schools vary. Our focus right now for our son is for him to be in a safe, loving environment, make friends and have fun in school and not feel stressed about learning. Tulip gives us that environment. He is learning a lot, but in a manner that makes learning fun.
Ms.Shalini, Ms. Evelyn and Ms. G are great with the kids, and we are looking forward to graduating to the 4s class this Fall.

Very surprised that over 40 kids go to day care/​pre school in Tulip. Its a crowded place with lots of kids and very few teachers. I have walked in many times to check on my son and found teachers yelling at the kids. Total number of teachers per class is very inconsistent varies between 2 – 4 every day.
I have not seen kids playing, singing or having fun there. Parents please spend some time to find Quality day care that has a lot of lighting, out door activity and a pleasant experience for kids.

The staff at this school is truly amazing. Swara is 3 years old and has been going to Tulip for about a year. She took time to adjust but the teachers were extremely patient. The staff is extremely friendly and take very good care of the kids. Every evening when I go to pick up Swara she’s always engaged in some activity with the faculty/​kids. And she also has a ‘best friend’, Saie :).
As a parent it’s difficult to manage one 3 year old !! When you have 24 of them in a class and the teachers are balancing between reading to them, changing diapers, wiping drippy noses, refereeing two kids squabbling over a toy, and still retaining their cool they definitely deserve a lot of appreciation for the work they do. Thank you !!

A bright, well equipped and efficiently run center — my 4 year old has loved all his teachers from preschool to his pre-​k. The daily schedules are well balanced between learning and playtime. The teachers give their time and attention to guide the kids and encourage them in their learning. They have onsite soccer, martial arts and other linguistic programs offered and that makes the overall learning experience for the children so much more broader without the hassles of hopping from one location to the other. Both Ms. Dipti and Ms. Nikki are exceptional in the management of the center and the programs they execute for the kids. I highly recommend this center to parents.

One of the most positive experiences I have had with pre-​schools, and we have been to three different pre-​schools over time. Let me be more specific. Both my boys, ages 5 and 3 went to this school and had positive, enriching experiences. The older boy was in the classroom for 4 – 5 years olds, and my younger boy went for over a year and spent time in two classrooms — ages 2 to 3 and 3 and over.
My older boy under the able guidance of Ms. Sonal and Ms. Kim developed in the following areas:
– He became more confident and appreciative of his parents and teachers.
– He learned to better participate in group activities and made long-​lasting friendships.
– He was more than ready for Kindergarten and he was prepared very well emotionally.
– He understood and followed rules more willingly and enjoyed all his structured activities.
My younger boy was just over 2 when he started at Tulip Kids. He got help and guidance from a number of teachers — Ms. Jenny, Ms. Lubna, Ms. Himagi, Ms. Nanda and Ms. Evelyn. He improved in the following areas:
– He started eating independently and showed interest in eating a wide variety of foods.
– His academic skills improved considerably and is well aware of shapes, colors, numbers, and letters. He is now trying to write letters and small words. He is also very interested in books.
– He knows all his classmates by name and responds very well to his teachers.
– As parents, we were made aware of his shortcomings and given excellent ideas for helping him overcome them.
In summary, all I can say is that I couldn’t have asked for a better environment for my children and am extremely satisfied with the teachers and staff at Tulip Kids. The owner, Ms. Deepthi runs a well-​oiled machine and Ms. Oneiki, the Director, is extremely professional, caring and understanding of our needs as parents. We feel like we are part of their family and wish them every success.

My daughter attended the infants room for the past ten months. The staff has been great with caring my child and she loved going to Tulip Kids. She started when she was 14 months old and this was the first day care that she went to. It took her a while initially to get used to the daycare but once she was comfortable, she was very happy to go everyday. I recently changed her daycare because of the long commute and would like to thank Tulip Kids for taking care of my daughter wonderfully!
The activities are thoughtfully planned and the teachers are excellent!

My 18-​month old son has been going to Tulip for the past 6 months now. We’re happy with the care that he’s received there. The facility is pretty new and professionally run. I believe they do their best to follow state regulations regarding class sizes, teacher to student ratios, and health requirements.
I like that we receive daily written report about my son’s activities, which I think they do for all the one-​year-​olds but not for the older kids. Activities for the one-​year-​olds include arts & crafts, singing and reading. The daily schedule seems pretty structured with set times for breakfast, snack, lunch and going out to the playground. Occasionally, they’ll have special events like a Halloween parade or a school potluck. During the summer, they’ll sometimes bring in a bounce house, petting zoo, or have water activities. Other extras like Spanish class, dance lessons and field trips are available for the older kids.
I do agree with Sarma U. that there’s been some amount of teacher churn in the past few months. They also have a few more closed days than I expected for teacher training and holidays like Veterans Day, but maybe that’s normal for schools. I’ve just grown used to the holiday schedule at tech companies.
Since this is Unilocal,I should mention that the food that they provide sounds very yummy. My son is growing like a weed, so he’s definitely getting enough to eat. All the dishes are vegetarian and alternate between American (like pancakes and pasta) and Indian (like dosas, idlis and curries). I love Indian food and wish I could try some of those dishes!

We are very happy with Tulip preschool program! My son is going there for almost a year! Staff are very friendly and understanding. All of them have good experience. We feel like a second home when we go there!

My kid has been going to Tulip for past year or so. She is currently in pre-​junior class. She thoroughly enjoys going to Tulip.
Pros:
+ When my kid joined Tulip, there were lot of activities around Rhymes, Alphabets, Letters Tracing and such activities. In past few months, I noticed there are more crafts, painting, making things/​stuff etc. I really like the amount the creative activities/​stuff they do. I think these stimulate a budding mind very well. By far this is the biggest positive point for me.
+ All the staff are very friendly, caring and accommodating. If a parent has any concern/​requests, they did their best to fulfill it, within reason.
Cons:
+ There has been a churn of teachers a year or so back. It is settling down now. Perhaps it happens at the start of a business, i don’t know.
Each kid is different and so are daycares. From my observation this past year, Tulip suits best for my kid.

I enrolled my daughter here after reading the great reviews. She was a very extrovert and friendly kid, But after she started going to Tulip kids her personality changed from Happy to shy. They promise many things in their enrollment material but once you start sending your kid and ask them to do something they will make excuse of having too many children and they cant pay attention on individual needs. Their attitude and behavior was very good when the academy was new but now with widespread popularity their attitude is worsening and they treat children like commodities. I have personally seen one their Staff shouting with a very bad facial expression at a small child barely 2 years old who was mum and scared.
After tolerating the arrogant behavior from the Tulip Staff and personally witnessing how they shout at small children I decided to enroll my daughter elsewhere where she can be happy and not feel that she is in a Jail.

My daughter is 2 years 9 months. I had initially put her in a montessori school, which she had a lot of issues adjusting to. I then moved her to Tulip. I could see the difference from the very first day. The staff is very flexible and understand and accommodate each child’s needs. The environment, staff and food is almost home like, which is what kids this age really need, unlike the strict military, no talking type schools. At the end of the day, she’s happy and talking about her teachers and what she did at school, which is what really matters. So, I’d highly recommend this place.

Removing 1 star because the teachers here change too often. Just as the kids start to get attached to a teacher, she leaves. Also there are times when I feel that the student to teacher ratio is big, which makes the teachers look overwhelmed sometimes.

My 4 year old started his school couple of weeks back and he is loving it so far.
The school is clean and you don’t smell any artificial flagarents. class rooms are large and spacious. I like the fact that the main door is always locked and you can get in only via the access code.
The staff are friendly and fun to talk to. The children also seem to like their teachers, no one appear to be sad at any time, they seem to be good in handling kids that would cry.
The play area is spacious and protected as well, with plenty of sun exposure during day time.
I would recommend this school to everyone.

My 3 year old daughter goes to Tulip Kids Academy since September of this year. It is a wonderful school with very loving and caring teachers. The owner Deepti is very approachable, reasonable, and extremely helpful. I am very happy with the preschool program, the curriculum, the facilities, and the overall environment in the school. I highly recommend it to all parents.
