Loved the bento box I got for lunch with coworkers. Miso soup was a little salty but otherwise great. Salad was very fresh and the dressing was ranch but with additional herbs which was nice. The bento is really nicely presented. You can pick two items, so I got california maki and teriyaki chicken. It also comes with rice and gyoza. All of the items were wonderful, super flavorful, and generous portions. It was $ 11 too. My coworkers got the bento box with sashimi and sushi and said the fish was great. Food also came out fast which we appreciated during the work day. Dare I say it, our new favorite lunch spot???

I was loyal to this restaurant when it was the Sushi Club. Through three sets of owners over the course of many years it was my local go-to sushi restaurant. When the current owners bought it and renamed it Truya Sushi the quality went far downhill. Service is slow and lackadaisical, but most importantly the food is awful. The fish tastes like days-old leftovers. Yuck!

My mom and I had dinner here tonight(Tuesday night). Got there about 5:45. We were seated right away– our order was taken– Waited a few minutes for drinks and salads… but not annoying at all. Waitress was handling to-go orders and about 4 tables. She handled herself fine! Food was YUM. Had the seaweed salad– the OHMYGOD roll and a coke. Mom had deep fried calamari, soup and salad and a Japanese beer. Food was really good– filling and fresh. Will definitely be back… helps that it’s really close to home.

We order from them all the time. We had placed an order for delivery, and they forgot one of our items(that we paid for) No big deal, but we called to let them know, and they refused to bring it to us… We tipped them around $ 20 for the delivery, and they still refused to bring it to us. After we already paid for it? Such a disappointment from a place we use to love :(We will not be ordering from them again.

I’ve ordered from this place multiple times. Their Udon soup is great. Probably one of the best that I have ever had. Some of their rolls are great too. But I was not particularly happy with their regular food like chicken teriyaki, etc.

I’ve ordered here twice; major disappointment. FOOD: The food is not good. The salmon teriyaki sauce was watery. DELIVERY: The delivery personal called me 7 times, although I live in an straight forward address and I’d written clear delivery instruction for them. They both called me from the middle of the street and expected me to go find them. SERVICE: The first delivery forgot my soda. The second time they called to inform me that they did not have my dessert and I had to choose something else, however, they did not have my 2nd and 3rd of their menu either, yet they still insisted that I have to choose something to add up my order to $ 30.

Disgusting. I’m convinced they don’t know how to make sushi because all their rolls are variations of something on top of a California Roll. Their California Roll is incredibly salty and grainy. The fish… Oh goodness… The fish… Defrosted fish may have been more fresh than that. Fish was dry and breaking apart the instant my chopsticks grabbed it. Worst of all, I waited 30 minutes for my «food». Waiters are inexperienced and don’t know how to service properly. Avoid the potential health risks. Avoid Truya Sushi.

Wow great find. Out of the heavily congested Castro St and Santa Clara El Camino Real restaurant corridors. Mostly lunch business from Apple and other tech companies in area. No wait for dinner table. Not as good as TomiSushi; good for no wait. $ 70-$ 80 for 3 w/2 hot sakes. Reasonable.

Not a fan. Just tried them for the first time two days ago. I ordered using the Unilocal checkout. Paid $ 69 total for several rolls. They were all bready, dripping in sweet sauces, slightly stale, and overall not appetizing. There are other great sushi joints in the area that serve fresh, delicious sushi that isn’t coated in so many additives. For example, Naminami in Mountain View is really good and authentic. I would not order from Truya again; very disappointed since I spent a big gob of cash, and my friend disliked it so much that he only had a couple of pieces.

I don’t do to many bad reviews but oh my goodness what an awkward experience. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe they were really frustrated with their new waiter but, scolding him in front of us and another customer is never a good idea. I felt so awkward sitting there waiting for our order as the sushi chef in front of us is loudly scolding the waiter to never write down an order not on menu and ask the chef first«did you hear me… Never». Heard some guys cussing in the back of the kitchen snickering at something… Just so random… I’m sure they will care less about this review but any boss in hospitality business should know not to yell at their employees in front of customers :(I feel bad for the people that came in as we were leaving. Food was great :) the service and experience was way below average!

My very favorite is the deep fried California roll. If you like that dish, you must try it here! They also have grilled garlic edamame that is amazing.

Love this place. The taste and quality is great! If asked, they even make custom sushi by adding or removing some things or combining two sushi plates. Friend and prompt service as well.

I enjoyed this meal. I was told my delivery would arrive at 7:40 pm, and I got it at 7:05. The sashimi was fantastic. The Philly Maki and the Green Dragon Maki were excellent. I generally like a little more unagi on my caterpillar roll, but it was good. The unagi nigiri was great — it had sesame seeds on it, for just a little crunch. That was a fantastic addition I really liked.

Phenomenal sushi, one of the best in the Bay Area. Their sashimi is fresh, the rolls are creative and tasty, and the service is on-point. The staff is also very open to suggestions — they take what is said on Unilocal and what is recommended and gear their dishes towards what’s popular. Also, definitely recommend the Heartbreaker and Red Dragon rolls — to die for. Also, their new dish which is seared tuna with garnish on top. To top it off, they got us a Grilled Bluefin Tuna Head. Extremely rare, very delicious, simply because they order in large enough volume to buy the head as well.

I’m so confused about the reviews of this restaurant… Maybe I came on the wrong day but I would give it 0 stars if I could. I went in on a Wednesday around 6:30pm. There were two other tables there the entire time. My friend and I got three rolls. Red dragon, rainbow and cherry blossom. Red dragon was the best by far. The«tuna» in the cherry blossom was awful, almost inedible. The roe on top was so so so fishy tasting, more so than usual, it was a turn off. I don’t know what it was but it wasn’t fresh tuna. The crab in the rainbow roll was obviously imitation but it was so bad and not fresh, just like the fish on top of it. My friend really liked the red dragon, I only tried a piece or two so I can’t say too much but it was definitely better than the other two. The service was ok… Definitely not good enough to keep me coming here. So disappointed.

With this being so close to work, I wanted to like this place a lot. I ordered the chirashi. This came with salad and soup. Although the salad was fresh and looked fine, it came with a special surprise, a piece of clear plastic. I know, this happens, so I wasn’t too upset about this. The quality of the fish in the chirashi, however, was lacking. It was a little fishy, and really a turn off. I took out my order, but service was overall satisfactory. I may try this place out again in the future, waiting for their kinks to be worked out.

I drive by this place every day on my way to work. I was so excited when I noticed it two months ago when I started working in Sunnyvale. Today, I finally decided to give it a try. I placed my order online but didn’t get an estimated time for pickup. I called the Sunnyvale location and the girl told me «I don’t have time to check the email, can you just tell me what you want.» Uh, okay. I was told to pick up in 15 minutes, which I did and my order was ready when I arrived so ++. She did explain that at lunch they don’t have time to check email and was polite about it at pick up but why have an online order form if I’m still going to have to call in? I ordered the Snow Man roll and a Spicy Crunch roll. The Spicy Crunch is supposed to be spicier than the Snow Man but it wasn’t in my opinion. The Snow Man was nice and cold but the Super White Fish on the outside was not as fresh I would have liked. The spicy tuna in the inside was good though. On to the Spicy Crunch– it was definitely the more flavorful of the two however the tempura batter tasted super stale. I made tempura shrimp for DIY/at home sushi with my cousins once and it was better than Truya’s tempura sushi. Other cons are that the rolls were falling apart at the bottom and the fish wasn’t as fresh to the taste as I expected. Meh. I’ve definitely experienced better. 2 stars.

The rolls were very good. Service was good, albeit we went on Sat night and was the only couple there for first half of our dinner. I’m guessing it is busier M-F for lunch as it is within walking distance of many tech businesses. I live within walking distance and this is great option for Sat night now. The Sashimi was very good, but not amazing, I’ve had better, thus the 4 stars(instead of 5).

*Scroll to end of review for quick summary Two of us came in right before the lunch rush, about 11:30. we were the 3rd group in the restaurant. and were quickly seated and served water. we then ordered a short time after, 5 minutes or so. a medium sashimi and an OMG roll. the salad and rice and table utensils came out shortly after that. At this point I noticed a small bug floating in my water, fruit fly? so I waved down the waiter and she saw it and quickly replaced my water with a new one. no big deal. Another 3 groups arrived, 2 groups of 4 and 1 group of 2. we continued to wait for our food another 20 – 25 minutes. During this time, the 2 of the 3 groups that came in after us had gotten their food. which I had noticed but was not yet annoyed about it, sometimes orders get mixed up or they order faster to make food. and lunch rush, things happen I get it. but I looked and noticed they too had ordered sashimi platters as well as some fried items and bento boxes. So I asked the waiter about our order, and her response was what caught me off guard. «don’t worry, its coming» without maintaining eye contact and walking away before finishing her sentence. she didn’t yell but it was definitely a slightly aggravated/rushed tone of voice. it ok, it happens I thought to myself… lunch rush. so our sashimi platter comes out, but not the other roll. and this is when I am making my sushi quality judgement. both my lunch mate and I agreed right away that it was slightly below the quality we were used to eating, we had eaten at Tomi sushi in Mountain View the week prior. So the second roll comes out, about 10 minutes later, we are also sharing it and thinking its… OK at best. but this one is a little harder to judge as these«special rolls» are based on subjective personal preference and can’t be compared directly as you can with sashimi. I asked the waiter for additional wasabi, but this is forgotten and never comes out. after waiting another 10 –15 minutes I decided I needed to go back to work and ate the remaining pieces without wasabi. This was the nail in the coffin if you will. as I chewed the last piece I felt a sharp pain in my mouth. I reached in a pulled a ½ inch piece of fish bone out of my gum. So based on my experience, this will be my first and last time eating here. cliff notes: –fly in water –didn’t bring out additional wasabi –other customers were served first –food took longer than expected to prepare –mediocre quality –small peice of bone left in fish and served(bad chef) no one thing on that list would make me upset, but the fact that all of those things happened in one visit made it memorable bad.

Prices are slightly higher than Sushi Club, but the quality more than makes up for it. Waitress is very attentive, refilling my water on a consistent basis and staff is friendly. Side note: Saki was filled to the brim! I ordered the bento box with beef teriyaki, sashimi, and tempura — all very fresh and tasted great. All in all, I give it a rating of 4.5 rounded up to 5.

Used to come to sushi club when me and my boyfriend worked at Jamba Juice. Came by tonight and was informed they just reopened not too long ago. All three of the workers were extremely nice and helpful, you could tell they were really excited about the open and future of the restaurant. The chicken katsu plate was seriously the best I’ve had, and I’m not easy to please. My boyfriend asked for his spicy tuna roll to be deep fried, most places deny the request but they had no problem doing it for him. Plus the price was amazing! Will deff be my go to place when I’m craving katsu! :P 4 locations total, 2 more in Santa Clara and 1 in east side San Jose.
