Thomas Carr, DDS & JoAnne Carr, DDS

I’ve been a client of the Drs. Carr and their staff for several years. I find their treatment of clients to be exceptional — they don’t try to intimidate and instill guilt, as so many dentists do. Rather they are concerned about your comfort, give good advice, and treat clients as adults. I recommended them to my husband, who switched to them also, and is delighetd.

My wife and I have had Dr. Tom Carr as our Dentist and Linda as our dental hygienist for years. We have complete trust in them! From Nicole greeting you as you walk in through your entire medical visit, the entire staff treats each patient like family with their genuine care and professionalism.

I’ve going dr. carr few years now, when i first moved here my dental situation was really bad because I had no money over the years to take care of it properly. Dr. Carr has been really great and compassionate helping me to recover on my way to get my smile back. While half of the work including my ceramic implants/​crowns are done in souther california I still see Dr. Carr as a main dentist here in bay area. I would highly recommend their office no matter what situation you are in. Dealing with front office has also been very easy. My only wish for Dr. Carr’s office would be that if they only had more people in their network they recommend or work with. Some of the referrals are really really expensive places and it’s always hard to get such high quotes knowing you can never afford the care. Thanks, Martin

I have been going to Dr. Thomas & JoAnne Carr for decades because they and their staff are simply the best! Three years ago my wife and I moved 4 hours away to retire in the Central Coast area. Finding a good dentist office team there has been very difficult for me. My wife didn’t even try, for she doesn’t mind travelling to Dr. Carrs’ office to get her teeth cleaned. In fact, recently I had just given up and resort to travelling back to the Bay Area to have my teeth cleaned. The reality is you just can’t beat their excellent skills and bedside manners. All of our appointments are on time, no over booking on their part or waiting. Dr. JoAnne Carr is without a doubt the BEST hygienist in the world. They have other great hygienists in the office but I like to rotate to experience the superb and exceptional professional cleaning that JoAnne has to offer every other visit. And, fortunately, I don’t need Dr. Thomas Carr’s dentist skills very often but when I do, I have always been made very comfortable throughout the whole procedure. For he has laid to rest my fears of dentist visits that I had as a child and the main reason I have stayed at this office for so long and will continue to for as long as they are there.

Dr. Carr is very thorough and has excellent bedside manner. He spent a good amount of time with me and was very patient in going over my questions. The hygienist was very thorough and did a great job cleaning my teeth. Very satisfied and highly recommended.

Dr. Thomas Carr and his team are compassionate perfectionists. My mother has been through many, many dentists over the decades. Only Dr. Carr and his team have the understanding and compassion to deal with a case like my mother who never learned to brush until her late teens. Needless to say, her teeth were a wreck; it was either have them all pulled — which would have been complete agony for someone her age — or get a custom job — which Dr. Carr accommodated. After all the work, her mouth has never looked better. Her smile is brighter now with a complete set of teeth. Thank you to the entire team including Nicole and Tuan. You are all the Best! P. S. I had a temporary crown put on 2 days ago. Throughout it all Dr. Tom Carr explained what was happening & checked if I was alright. There was no pain with the procedure, just some discomfort. I’d do it again, though I hope never to have to. He even called me the next day to make sure all was well. He is a great dentist. I highly recommend him!

Boy was I in a pickle! An old gold crown came off the Saturday before Christmas, and I was just sure I would have to wait until after the holiday. However, I called an emergency line that the Drs. Carr provide and Dr. Tom called me back within 3 minutes, again coming through in time of need. He made sure I was not in pain or having sensitivity, and told me how to keep the open crevice clean, etc. On Monday the office manager, Nicole contacted me with an appointment on the 23^rd just before their office Christmas luncheon. Everyone was jovial and made me feel like part of the family. I have not ever been to a dentist where I remained a patient for 20 years. There is something about them as people, and the professional work is tops, always. In my opinion, the Dr. Tom and Dr. Joanne, and their team qualify as the dental office for even the most timid patients. Their office is also very clean and like home. Thanks you guys!

I just moved from France to Saratoga and I had the same dentist for years before I came here. So I was a little bit nervous to pick up a new dentist. With a broken old bridge and a retiring dentist, I was left to look for a new dental office. Reading the positive reviews for Dr. Carr on Unilocal,I took a chance and made an appointment. From the beginning I was pleasantly impressed by his calm and professional demeanor. He gave me an honest opinion and skilfull advice, and I never doubted that I was very lucky to come to his office. Dr. Carr recommended the excellent oral surgeon, Dr. Beech, who installed implants. Then, later, I returned to have the crowns positioned over the implants. From first to last, my experience was unmatched with any other dental office, and I have been to many. Dr. Carr treated me very professionally and was very friendly throughout. My crowns fit perfectly and, even on the first day, I hardly felt any discomfort. Who would think that there are dental offices where the patients actually like going in? It is possible with Dr. Carr’s office, where the doctor and his staff put the patient at ease effortlessly.

Professional and caring staff from Nicole at the front to every staff team member in the back. A serene and clean office space, and easy to get to off of 85. 5 stars for everybody!

Second Opinion
I went to Dr Carr to get a second opinion from a quote I got from another dentist in same area that I got off Unilocal.That Dentist had 5 star reviews.
Lucky I did! Dr Carr’s advice was sound health advice that was in my best interest. The other dentist was trying to extract as much money and treatment as quickly as possible from me and my wife which seemed to be capped at our insurance limits.
The original dentist has a list of 18 things for me to have done, my wife had over 20. Both used the maximum of our plan for two years. Dr Carr suggested that I did not actually need half the work and the work I did need I could get it done at a much more realistic pace. I actually got two other Opinions as well — one from my regular dentist in Australia (honors and post grad in DDS) and my friend who is a periodontist so that is four opinions. The other 2 agreed with Dr Carr.

In short both Dr Carr’s are really excellent dentists, I feel they take health related ethics seriously and always work towards giving their customer a great health outcome.
In, the office, Nicole sends reminders out well in advance by email and SMS, billing is always sorted out as easily as possible and they will work to make sure you get good value out of your plan.
Before you get work done from another dentist, get a second opinion from someone who will have your best interests at heart!

For almost 20 years I’ve been seeing Drs. Carr and my teeth are looking great. They are so good at helping you take good care of your mouth. Nothing says I’m terrific as a great smile and they know how to help you achieve just that.

Just had my teeth cleaned by Linda who did a fantastic job as usual! I’ve been a patient here with Dr. Carr for about 13 years now — I’ve also worked for Dr. Carr for about 13 years now! I write this review with 5 stars based wholly on my experience in the chair! Every time I’m having my teeth cleaned or worked on by Dr. Carr is a reminder of why I’ve worked here so long. The care is first class all the way and his team are top notch. I recommend Dr. Carr and his team to anyone who needs a good, honest family dentist.

Dr. Thomas Carr’s skills are more in marketing and business than in dentistry. I think he views his patients as cash cows and tries to find ways to milk the most revenues from each of them.
He scared me into getting a crown put on one of my teeth, and the job he did deserved a C grade. A few years after the fact, I still have pain in the tooth. His final bill ended up being about $ 500 more than his own initial projection, because he «remembered» a very important and highly recommended step halfway through the procedure.
Instead of apologizing, and offering to do this step for free, he tried to make a joke out of it, and profusely laughed at his own material. His message basically was, «If you don’t do that, your crown is very insecure, so don’t blame me if it falls off!». He put me in a position of either paying up another $ 500 or taking an unknown risk. Of course, I paid up. Very unprofessional.
All the work he did for me — a couple of cavities, a couple of cleanings, and the one crown, cost me a great deal of money out of pocket, and he was supposed to be a part of my insurance network.
He told me SIX (!) of my teeth needed crowns, and was trying to schedule me for another five crowns. At that point, I decided to check with a couple of other dentists, and each told me very clearly that there was absolutely no need for me to get any more crowns, and they saw nothing in my teeth or X-​rays that would warrant such an aggressive course of action.
Needless to say, I changed my dentist at that time. Years later, all those other teeth are perfectly fine without a coronation by Dr. Thomas Carr, and the one tooth he crowned still gives me a lingering pain.
I would never go back to Dr. Carr.

This is a great dentist’s office. Everyone is very nice, and they are always forgiving when I don’t schedule my appointment early enough. Nichole, the receptionist, is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.
Everything runs very smoothly and my waiting time has always been very short. They provide high quality costumer service.
I highly recommend this dentist’s office to anyone in need of a new dentist.
