The Granary

By far my favorite quilt store I can always find fabric to go with whatever I am working on or for starting a project from scratch. This is my go to for reproduction fabric they have a nice selection and some great projects on the wall in the front of the store. There is a great selection and variety of fabrics — I find more here than any other quilt store locally. The staff is always friendly and helpful — Paula takes the time to say greet you personally and you see her throughout the shop Teaching, helping customers or working the register. It’s very peaceful and I would often pop in on a stressful day for some inspiration and to reset.

This is a review for their quilting service. I had a queen sized quilt that need to be quilted, it was sort a time sensitive piece since my husband is taking it to Mexico as a gift. The lady was so nice, gave suggestions as I have no idea what to pick since this was only my 2^nd quilt. She finished it in THREE DAYS!!! the first place I took it to took almost 2 months, cost a lot more and they send me back when I first brought my top in because I didn’t iron the seams right?

I’m a guy and I don’t know anything about fabric or patterns. I received a warm welcome and they were not pretentious at all. I went here with the intent of buying some fabric for prototype packaging. I needed it cut in a circular pattern. They helped me select several cloths and also did free custom cutting. I was told the custom cutting is something they normally don’t do, but since it was slow they helped. So if they don’t do this when you’re there, don’t fault them. If I need more fabric I’ll definitely come back here.

Staffs are super friendly. I love their happy hour every month. It is one of the best event each month. The store has «the fabric» that you need all the time during the beginning, middle, or finishing up a quilt! You will always find someone who can help you to pick the most suitable fabric.

Visited for the CA Row By Row Experience. Part of a strip mall, but even mid-​morning during the week it was difficult to find a spot to park. I could barely get around the store with my stroller due to the displays, and aisles being too narrow. It was very busy, and I think a class was taking place in back, so it was loud. I chose not to spend too much time inside, so I went to the register to get my pattern and plate for the RXR. The employee asked me to pay with cash, which I didn’t have enough of, and proceeded to complain about merchant card fees. I will likely not return.

Great store with a good choice of different fabrics! I was here first time and found what I needed right away. Nice saleswomen, they were very considerate and helpful. Also they have a lot of different sewing classes. Definitely will come again! :)

There is a lot to be said for a fabric store that is organized with fabrics sorted by color and by type of material. For a small store, there is a large assortment of fabrics. Lovely quilts are scattered throughout the store. Staff was friendly, and offer to help. However, their prices are outrageous. I bought a small amount of one fabric, and then saw it the very next day at another store for 40% less. If you don’t care about cost, then this is the first place to look for your sought after fabric!

We came in looking for a specific fabric which they did not have, but the service was kind and the attention and advise from the employee directing us where to go in order to find what we need was heart warming.
On a Saturday morning the store was full with clients browsing the shelves (I didn’t know so many people are quilting so passionately).
they have a huge selection of 100% cotton fabrics in all sizes, shapes, colors, and patterns. The store is very tidy and clean.Nice.

I love going to the Granary! It’s like going into the neighborhood «Cheers»! I have run in needing a quick hostess gift to make in a few days and have been helped with a free quick pattern and help in selecting the fabric! Classes (with Julie) have been great, as I’m sure all of the teachers are. Marcia is wonderful! Paula and Jody have continued to create a wonderful place to come and create and make friendships as well as quilting and sewing projects!

I recently had quilt tops to be quilted and used The Granary to do the quilting. Jody does the quilting and she did a wonderful job and the price is so reasonable. All the people at The Granary have been so helpful picking out fabric or giving advice on projects. I love this store, will definitely be a frequent customer!

Love the fabric, the ladies, and the classes at The Granary. I always feel welcomed and the ladies are super helpful when I’m stuck trying to figure out fabric choices for a quilt. I drive more than 20 miles one way to get there. Worth the trip every time. Besides taking classes, I also have Jody do the long arm quilting for my projects and she does a beautiful job.
This is a great shop all-​around.

Cheers! Yes, Cheers… The Place that fosters a sense of community, encouragement, assistance, learning, and love for the art of quilting. No, it’s not Cheers, it’s The Granary! But most days you will fill as though you have been embraced by that familiar place.
I have only been quilting for four months. I’ve taken 5 classes at The Granary and one at EQB. The beginner classes at the Granary are taught by Julie of The Crafty Quilter blog. Not only is she gracious, knowledgable, and extremely kind hearted, but she also creates a sense of community in her classes. I walked into her first class with a new to me sewing machine (and having just finished a good beginning quilting class at EQB) and completed the class with so much more knowledge of quilting in general and technique that I was amazed. Julie goes FAR beyond the standard. She teaches in detail, brings in many of her own quilting samples, follows the «Introduction (She tells you), demonstration (She shows you), practice (she helps you), practice (you are able to do it on your own), expansion (she shows different ways to use the skill), recap, homework… model of teaching. Then she emails you the specifics of the lesson, so you don’t get lost at home and gives you a way to communicate with her if you need any more help! She also has her own very professional blog that has full tutorials on it! Like I said… she goes far beyond the standard. Julie is a bright and shining gem and I love her for teaching me not only how to quilt, but to love quilting.
I have also taken a class hosted by Jody and the store’s owner Paula that was more of a quilting social with help if you need it. They were both very helpful and encouraging as the method of quilting that type of pattern was new to me. Jody is always willing to stop what she is doing and give you her full attention and help you until you are happy with whatever you are trying at accomplish. She has never failed to say hello and make me feel welcomed in the shop. Paula tries to know all of her customers by name. Actually most all of the women in the store seem to try to establish rapport with each customer and have always been very, very helpful to me. I can not express enough my feelings of love for this store and its employees. It’s not just a store, it’s is a warm and needed Godsend in the midst of such a busy, business oriented, networking section of the world. It’s real.
Whenever I start a project, I go to The Granary first. Not because I find everything I need there, but because I want to spend as much of my quilting money where I get the most «quilting nourishment» and enjoy being the most. The store is smaller than EQB, but that also fosters the intimacy found there. The selection differs from EQB somewhat, and is arranged differently. Eddies arranges by color and type. The Granary seems to use multiple types of arrangements. There are traditional print fabrics, batiks, some bright modern fabrics (although with their arrangement you sometimes have to search for them… but they are there), Thirties fabrics, Reproductions, etc. I just wish that the store was twice as large, so I could buy all of my fabrics there… Like Kaffe Fassett fabrics for example. They have many, many quilt samples hanging, patterns galore, some books, and some notions. Fabric is on sale the first week of each month and there is a Granary punch card. The back of the store has a 50% off section of fabrics and books. And Jody offers quilting services on the long arm in the store. She does a beautiful job!
I can’t encourage you enough to go try this little shop for yourself. Try the classes, get to know these awesome women… and I bet that you will become a Granary Lover and Devotee, too.

Won’t be back. They’re selective as to who they help. Put my items back and left the store. Is 10 minutes too long to wait at the cashier?

I live a little ways from this store, so it took me a little while to figure out that it is the first place to look for fabrics when I am starting a new project. I can’t say enough good things about this place. It is packed with fabric choices, fun projects (eye candy) and helpful, knowledgeable staff. The classes are fun and well done. And after taking just one class, I feel like I’m family when I walk in the store. It’s worth the drive! LOVE this place

I took my first three quilting courses here with Julie and she’s a wonderful instructor for beginners like myself. With her guidance, I completed my first quilt start to finish over four class sessions. The classes were nice and small so I received plenty of one-​on-​one attention/​hand holding. Love the store too — while it appears small, it’s packed with tons of newly released designer fabric lines + batiks, patterns, threads, notions, etc. It’s close to my work and I like the ladies who work here, so I’d much rather pop in here than EQB when I’m looking for fabrics.

They don’t have a ton of fabric that I love, but they do they have a (somewhat small) selection of more «modern» fabrics, like Kate Spain or Joel Dewberry (they had Aviary 2 last time I was in there).

I’ve only been in here a handful of times but the employees have always been super helpful when I needed advice on what needles to use or stuff like that.

I don’t get to visit very often, but every time I visit this store, I’m greeted promptly and warmly.
If I look confused or concerned or if I’ve been staring at patterns/​fabric for awhile, the staff offers their assistance. Their enthusiasm for their jobs and for the quilts OTHER people are making is awesome.
This, combined with the great fabric, pattern, and tool selection is why I’m always happy to visit the Granary.

A great little quilting store, with an amazing selection of fabric. They have a decently sized classroom area at the back, which was full of ladies chattering away to one another, when I went mid-​week.
I was looking for fabric to make napkins, and one of the employees was very helpful in tracking down a neat pattern, and helping me find some nice coordinating fabric for the tablecloth swatch I brought in.
The prices here were reasonable, although I thought they were just a little more expensive than other places I’ve been to. This is one of the few fabric stores I’ve visited that does a punch card program though, so that may be part of it.

Quilting store for sure… very organized and homey feel with an area in back for craft classes.

The bolts of cotton fabrics I saw were priced between $ 9.80 and $ 11.80
The back wall has 50% off fabrics.
I say pricey for me…

I checked out The Granary as another available option in the neighborhood. It’s cute, quaint and small. The staff were very attentive and yes they do offer classes. The selection of fabrics isn’t as vast as EGB or the stores in the South Bay. The do have some nice choices of fabrics, books and patterns to choose from.
Yes, I will return here and perhaps take a class too.
