Scandia Auto Service

The folks at Scandia are even bigger Volvo enthusiasts than I am. The front-​of-​house guy, Patrik, mentioned that he owns two C70s and various other interesting Volvos. I’m mentioning this just to reinforce that the Scandia team are passionate about what they do.
I do a lot of my own maintenance, but there some jobs that I would rather leave to the professionals. One of those jobs is replacing the CV boots on my Volvo V70. A lot of shops would encourage the customer to just buy new axles, but most aftermarket axles for Volvos aren’t very good. The Scandia folks know this, and they were happy to rebuild my original axles with fresh CV boots. This is a job that would take me an entire weekend in my garage, but Patrik from Scandia called me just a few hours after I dropped the car off to say that it’s done.
While they aren’t cheap, the Scandia team knows what they’re doing, they’re efficient, and they communicate well.
Also – the shop has a nice open feeling to it. If you want, you can watch and see what’s going on with your car.

Fantastic service –I moved to the area recently and found this place was close by. So far I have come in with light bulbs out and each time they immediately took care of it, they had the parts in stock and worked quickly so no waste of time or money. They charged me very reasonably. Very impressed so far and I will be returning here for any large or small service

Took my 2008 Volvo XC 90 here because the windshield wiper fluid pump/​housing was broken. They did a great job fixing it quickly, getting the part, and most importantly it works — all for a fair price.

Patrick is the best. I’ve used Scandia to service our Volvos the last three years. He’s a straight shooter that tells you exactly what you need and don’t need. He also gave me some excellent advice on how to get an internal oil leak fixed and paid for through my extended warranty. The mechanics are helpful as well and always polite. Always a positive experience working with Scandia.

We travel 50 miles for all our car service needs done here. There is no better place in northern Calif. to take your Volvo. Superior workmanship and customer service. Better work than the dealerships and cheaper too. Been with them for years.

Another positive service experience for my mother’s Volvo service and repair needs this week. It’s nice to be able to trust them in helping to take care of my mom and her 1990 Volvo we bought new when I was just a kid. Kudos!

This is the place of choice for service and repair of Volvo. I found them on Unilocal and became a regular customer because their crew is excellent, they know what they are doing and have performed a better service on my car than a Volvo dealer! I respect their professionalism and appreciate that they would honestly say what is needed to maintain the car in a good condition.
I wouldn’t trust anyone else to touch my car! Scandia it is!

We found Scandia Auto on Unilocal and have been using their services for the last 2 years and have been delighted. We can attest to their honesty because we just took in our volvo for a headlight issue which they fixed (to our surprise) free of charge. Their commitment to customer service is outstanding. A trustworthy mechanic is sometimes difficult to find, but Scandia not only fits the bill but far exceeds expectations.

Dealt with Patrick a few months back. Needed some programming done on a window switch for a Volvo. Really nice honest guy. Will come back with any further Volvo needs in the future. Recommend to all of my Volvo customers now.

I was impressed by this place because I went to them with a headlight issue (kept going out, seemed like a wiring issue, and my regular mechanic didn’t want to deal with it and said to find an electrical specialist). They said they’d check it out and test the wiring and gave me a quote of $ 125. I had to leave the car there, but they called 3 hours later and said the headlight was installed incorrectly, they’d re-​installed it and replaced the pilot («angel») light and checked the wiring. My car was ready and they didn’t charge me at all!
Well, the headlight went out again a couple weeks later and they looked at it again for free then replaced a wiring harness or something and charged me $ 150. The service isn’t cheap, but it’s better than the dealer, they use authorized parts under warrantee, and they’ll change your bulbs for just the cost of the bulbs. They are honest and fair. If you have a Volvo, I recommend them.

I had a vehicle taken here for a pre-​sale inspection. Patrick was incredibly thorough and unearthed an extensive amount of issues with the car from the clutch, to the drivetrain to the power steering to the brake rotors to the radiatior to the windshield and trunk. The car appeared fine upon initial visual inspection, so it was great to have Patrick give the car a thorough inspection.
He was very accommodating to the Unilocal deal and to me paying over the phone as well as moving his schedule around to make it work for the inspection. Very helpful and knowledgeable mechanic!

My C70 Volvo Convertible has been all over the place in the past few years, and has always been serviced by dealerships. Well, after 150,000 miles, I am not ready to say goodbye yet, but my radiator was. Scandia came in under their quote ($ 200 less than a dealer), and the service was completed by 2pm the same day. Patrick helped me with the paperwork and the quote, and all I can say is a big thank you! They are professional, courteous, and do excellent work.

I was having issues with my volvo’s power window making a terrible noise and wanted to have it repaired so I could use the window again. The local dealer said it was impossible to know what the problem was before going into the door area and gave me an idea that such repairs could run several hundred to about a thousand. I understand that it is hard to get an idea without an inspection, but had concerns that this was going to be much more expensive than I thought. I found Scandia on Unilocal and after reading the reviews about their honesty, decided to make an appointment. The following week, after having the car for a few hours, I got a call from them that the window was repaired and the total cost was under $ 150. These guys are great! Appreciate the honesty and now will bring all my repair business to them. Thanks!

My mom was having some issues with her Volvo and it was towed. The towing
company let her know it was a transmission problem. At first glance Patrick
at Scandia also confirmed it was a transmission problem. The replacement
was going to cost her $ 5,000 which my mom agreed to since she did not want
to have to buy a new car.
Mike of Scandia called earlier than the promised finish date to let my
parents know the car was ready. He also let them know that the service cost
a lot less (in only a few hundreds for regular service and not for
transmission rebuilt) because when they investigated further they found out
the problem was with the axle and not the transmission. My mom couldn’t
believe it, they could have easily ripped her off and pretended to fix the
transmission and pocketed her money — but they didn’t. They deserve five
stars all the way — over the years car mechanics have developed a bad
reputation because of how they cheat people, but Scandia truly has the
customer in mind and they are there to do honest work. I highly recommend
taking your car for service to them — in no way will they rip you off.

Once Smythe Volvo moved from Stevens Creek to Capital Expressway and dealing with a longer drive for service, we decided to find a local mechanic that specialized in Volvos. This is the place to have service done for your Volvo. They are honest and reasonably priced, especially when compared to dealership pricing. They are ASE trained and are recommended by AAA and most important, they know common problems with Volvos as they’ve all worked at Volvo dealerships.
If you have a minor issue, you can just stop in for them to take a look. One time, before a big trip, I was at a tire shop to get tires (Scandia doesn’t do tires), something unusual was found by the tire guy and since I have a huge distrust of tire stores, I took it directly to Scandia. They popped my car in and fixed the problem on the spot (I never would have trusted a tire store for the repair). They will also tell you if a repair is unnecessary or suggest a somewhat cheaper solution for minor issues.
Plus, I’ve been there a lot over the years and they know my name, always nice.

After taking my car to Sears — they messed up and put an after market axle on my car — which they did not have to do. The boot was broken, but rather than fix the boot they went the easy route and took out a perfectly good axle. NEVER take your car to Sears. That was only one issue.
After reading the many 5 star reviews, i decided to get my car towed here. Patrick explained everything that was wrong with my car and I am very happy with my choice of taking my Volvo to them. They are terrific and I have found myself Volvo mechanics for life!

Its a pleasure bringing my car in here, because it’s obvious that these guys don’t just love cars, they love Volvos. Not to mention the great service and attitudes of the guys there, the 2 Patricks and Rick who I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with are part of a top-​notch team. Took the car in for its scheduled service last week, and I returned today with a totally unrelated problem, which Patrick managed to figure out in a jiffy. Rates are reasonable and I wasn’t even charged for their time/​the fluid topup when I went back today, which was very nice of them!
Needless to say, I’ve been recommending them to all Volvo-​driving folk I’ve been fortunate enough to meet. Someone over 21 do me a favor and next time you drop your car off, drop off a 6 pack for the guys, they deserve it. I’ll definitely be bringing my Volvos back here for a long time — even when I’m off to college, it’ll be worth the drive.
