If you are handy with your hands and know what you want to accomplish, then I highly recommend this PBM location. Huge inventory and quantities are their biggest strengths. This is a busy yard, so I recommend to come knowing what you need and how much you need of it.
This is not the easiest location to look for new ideas in materials, or to talk with experts on ideas and concepts about a pending project. They have a dedicated showroom in Mountain View that is better for browsing.

Zero stars. In fact, –5 stars. You seriously need to keep it down and follow Sunnyvale noise ordinance rules. Pretty sure they state you can only run heavy machinery Monday through Saturday 7am-​10pm. I live in apartments near by and am always woken up from heavy machinery! What’s up with the midnight jackhammers???

I bought 2 tons of crushed rocks and they delivered them mixed with 20−30% of dirt.

The good news is that they have a good supply of materials. The bad news is that the prices are more expensive than competitors. We have compared prices here for their flagstone, travertine and other materials to other rockeries in the area and PBM is at the top of that list in terms of price. Pricing did not make sense to us, as one day we were charged $ 380\ton and the very next day $ 350/​ton.
When our landscaper ran out of materials and we needed to buy more. One of the salespersons used our credit card which was stored in their computer system to pay for the transaction without calling us over the phone to authorize the purchase.
Other issues we had when trying to locate additional material in the yard. The salesperson explained to us over the phone that they ran out of the material and he checked the yard. The same day I went to personally look and found the material we were looking for.

They have all of the building materials that you need for a home project. Their prices are better than Home Depot & Lowes. Don’t go through the middle man & pay middle man prices.
I bought base rock from here at $ 62/​ton! That price included delivery! You can’t beat this for a home owner. I put my order in at 11am & got it delivered at 2pm. Just like they promised.
Definitely shopping here for my home projects!

This place is very expensive. I bought 100lb bags of baserock from them and they charged me 4.95 + tax. I was not aware of retail price but I later inquired at LYNGSO in readwood city and 100lb bag should only be 2.40 $ + tax.
Secondly, The guy who was putting the base rock for me will measure till the bag line and make sure it is not even 1 mm over the line. seriously, it is base rock not diamonds.
I advise you to drive 10 miles extra to some other store for your needs as you may save lot of money.

I had absolutely the best service from Keith. The place was very busy but he spent 45 minutes with me showing me different samples, washing some off so I could see the color better, then calling around to see what was in stock then he gave me a full list of prices. I was very impressed.
A few days later my contractor went back to buy our 360 sq ft of rock. I forgot to tell him to see Keith and quite by accident he was the person that dealt with my contractor. Again his customer service was great and he went out of his way to get my order just right!
This place is dusty but what can you expect from an outdoor supply company. The prices are not the cheapest but the service and the supply are worth the extra cost!

So the rock I want can be delivered. It comes in a big super bag of about 1.5 tons. AND it’s only $ 95/​ton! SUPER! But wait… The bag is $ 15. OK, I get that. And the rock, because it’s being delivered, it’s $ 125/​ton. not $ 95. OK, I get that too. Oh, but wait… there’s also a delivery charge. $ 150 to downtown Los Gatos. Now wait a minute. LYNGSO charges $ 117 for Los Gatos delivery, and they’re a LOT farther away. At Peninsula the rock was PLUS $ 30/​TON PLUS DELIVERY! I GOT HAD. I’ll never do that again. At LYNGSO the prices are the same (pick up or deliver, same price per ton), bag charge same, delivery less, salespeople very helpful. I’ve used LYNGSO previously, I tried Peninsula this time, I’m going back to LYNGSO. It’s worth the drive.

If you want to build something beautiful and solid in your yard, this is the place contractors go. It’s well worth the time to pay them a visit.
They have a great selection and a well done display area.
Yes the prices for this stuff may seem high, just keep in mind if the work is done correctly it will last 100+ Years. If you look at it from that perspective, It is a bargain at almost any price.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The minute they see a woman walk onto their site, they treat them with contempt. When I received my material, it was short of a certain amount. They sent out a person who spent approximately 30 minutes laying out EVERY piece of stone, gravel, dust to measure what was left and he came to the conclusion that they had actually given me the right amount, even though after all his measurements, it was still not the amount I had ordered. His explanation was that they sell their measurements calculating ½ «space between each stone. I asked him so I’m paying for space when I order a certain square footage? and his reply was «yes»…At $ 15/​sf, this is outrageous. He said that this is how their suppliers calculate the amount they receive. I happen to have the name of the supplier on the container that that stones had been delivered in and I called the supplier and asked them this question and they replied that this is absolutely untrue!!! so, be aware that this is how they rip you off.

Wanting to build an outdoors bread oven, I visited today the Sunnyvale location. It’s a huge yard full of building materials and busy forklifts, clearly not fitted for the casual buyer.
However, they had time to stop and check if I needed help and then taking me to the heaps of firebrick I was looking for. Very, very friendly people!
In the end, I wanted to buy one brick of several sizes so that I can decide at home which will work better, so I took them to the office. The gentleman at the counter looked at me and decided to treat these brick as free samples and sent me my way.
Will I go back and buy from them the materials I need for my project? Absolutely!!! Do I recommend them to anyone who needs building materials for their needs? Absolutely!!!
It felt good to be their customer!

After we visited several rockeries and had some really bad and rude experiences (DON“T go to Garden Supply in Los Altos!!! it was horrible) we walked in here and were helped by Brad.
He knew what he was talking about he gave great advise and was just overall a really nice guy. They have a gazillion different kinds of stone and we were helped quickly and professionally. Don’t bother going anywhere else, if you need rock, natural stone for your yard this is the place to be!

1^st know that this place is more for the contractors & workers.
You will get dirty, wear something that you don’t care about also NO open shoes. This is no place for kids or pets. One tracktor moving the wrong way and it could be all over.

This is a great place for all things rock. Yes, they have/​had a small showroom. This is a rock place and it’s dirty!
Yes, it is a tough place but they do have truck scales to count your load. And they do have all kinds/​shapes/​sizes of rocks. And all things to put together rock walls, floors, patios outdoor fireplaces, rocks for mail boxes, rocks for stone walls, etc. etc. etc. If you are not a contractor or worker do not show up 1^st thing in the morning or around 3PM that is when contractors and workers will be there. They will be busy and you will not get much help. The reguarls come first! Oh they have pre made benches slab but very heavy. Overall it is a good source for all this rock inculding the faux rock. Some HD/​Lowes/​OSH get some of their stuff from here. So if you see something that you like @ a Hardware store buy one and take it to PBM’s showroom in MTV (very close to Costco/in&out/BBB/REI/bb/michaels)
