This is actually a nice & safe park. Though, I have to say that in the Sunnyvale parks I see a trend with these older«O.G’s» trying to claim there turf or trying to «run things». Get past that & all is well. The park is next to a school house so there are plenty of «kiddies» running around so it’s excellent for the family outing & picnic crowd. It does have a play ground for kids, which is some what new. When, I was growing up this particular park was known where the grown ups go to barbecue & no place to play. That has changed. Playground intact kids around, gangsters scowl«I’m down»

We came here to scout out potential places to hold a surprise birthday party for my sister. It’s a small park but it has character. There are 2 tables with grills that are first-come-first-served and both were nicely shaded by trees. We didn’t want to wake up super early though in order to claim a table so we considered the other 3 tables that can be reserved with Sunnyvale city. Picnic area 3 had a gorgeous tree by it so it was our top choice because we had a piñata for my sister. We ended up going with a different venue, but I think this park would be a great option for family gatherings and celebrations. :)

The city has made various improvements to Murphy Park, including updating the park building(it’s currently the newest one in Sunnyvale as of 2014⁄2015) and re-landscaping the area around the playground. The park building is home to the Kindergarten Prep city pre-school and the Sunnyvale Lawn Bowling Club. My kids enjoy the gated playground area(good for ages 2 – 4) and we’ve rented out the firepit for a reasonable price. The park is well-kept and there are less homeless folks there now(as opposed to 2012), many evenings families will be BBQing or playing volleyball, or hosting parties. We’re grateful for this little spot in our part of town — 4 stars!

I take my son to this little park often every afternoon. Too many Chinese kids is the prior factor.

I like this park because it is close to home and has a relatively large grass area without trees to get in the way of flying helicopters, Frisbee’s or footballs. However, that is about it that is nice about this park. It has a small playground which will not entertain anyone over 4 years old. It has a few BBQ pits and benches. Standard! Other than the proximity to home factor there are much more beautiful parks in Sunnyvale I would much rather go to.

This is a great little park in Sunnyvale! It has a great playground enclosure for little kids. My niece really enjoys the slide and the swing. I’ve been finding that most of the kids brought to the play area are around 3 – 5 years old with most parents being very mindful. The playground boasts sunny/shady spots in the late morning. The park is also well shaded with some sunny spots, the lawn area being very generous. Beyond the play area and lawn, there is also an spot for horseshoes(bring your own!) and adjacent to the park is a bocce ball area. Very small, with only three reservable picnic tables, it is great place to host a small barbecue! It’s not too overcrowded and the people passing through are always friendly. I haven’t encountered too many homeless.

This is actually a nice little park in Sunnyvale close to downtown. Just ignore homeless who stare at you from their little corner of the park and grumble at you when you say«how ya doin?» It’s okay, just minus two stars for unfriendly homeless people and the semi-sleezy neighborhood.

Those nights when I’m stressed out, can’t think straight, and have no desire to get drunk(yes that really happens sometimes) and am too lazy to drive anywhere I come here. Surrounded by trees, under the stars, I meditate — on the swings. There is nothing like a good swing to release a ton of endorphins and make all right with the world again. Dimly lit and quiet sans for the occasional car it’s a great little evening spot to relax. During daylight it still serves as a nice small park with several picnic tables and lots of grassy space to throw down a blanket. The playground area is extremely small so it doesn’t get too loud or crowded, but its likely not the best place to bring several kiddos. The traffic is also heavier during the day so there is a lot of traffic noise. Still a great spot for an impromptu picnic. peace, love, and good booze ~ chase
