Health Tune-up

Health Tune-​Up has done great things with my lower back pain and sciatica! Also working with a number of insurance plans that include acupuncture benefits is a great plus!

I highly recommend Health Tune-​Up as a viable treatment for back pain. [No more pills!]
Dr. Xia was very patient with me and listened to the problems I was having with neck, shoulder and back pain. She recommended a steady regimen of acupuncture and acupressure treatments over the course of a couple of months.
All of the acupressure therapists at her practice are very professional and always ask what is my preferred pressure level before each session. They are also very good at what they do and understand the problem spots that need the most attention.
As I was suffering from chronic muscular pains, it took several sessions, but I am happy with the progress I have made with her help. My neck, shoulder and back pains are minimal to none after over a dozen sessions.
To top it off, I came in for my back treatment after a 100 km bike ride on the weekend and explained the pain in my legs. She recommended a few sessions of treatment for my legs, which helped me recover very quickly. I think I’ll be planning a visit before and after long bike rides from now on.

I recently had my 3^rd appointment with Dr. Xia. I was referred here by a co-​working but kept putting off making an appointment. My shoulder/​arm/​wrist pain got so bad that I was having difficulty sleeping and kept my husband up whining about how much pain I was in. I realized the pain wasn’t going to get better on its own and I was too young to be in this amount of pain. I made the call the next day. The front desk was very friendly and accommodating and was able to get me in the same day. My first appointment included an assessment from the doc and then had a very painful (but very much needed) massage. Following this was an acupuncture session with the doctor. Don’t worry, you can’t feel the needles at all! Or at the most, it was only an instant of a prick. I don’t know about others, but it makes the area feel very warm-​I was told this was from acupuncture increasing circulation. Regardless of your beliefs on acupuncture or Chinese medicine, I highly recommend this practice as a alternative or even primary approach to pain management. The staff here are very caring and each treatment leaves me feeling better. It can be life changing as just a week ago I was having trouble sleeping and near tears from just the weight of my own arm and shoulder and having difficulty holding things for long periods of time.

Dr Xia and her staff is very professional. Their services are excellent and they really value their client. I like how they have half hour massage and half hour acupuncture session which is perfect for my tense muscles. I have been going here for few months and it has proven to be beneficial already for my pain. Awesome job!

Extremely professional clinical service, traditional bed side manners that have been lost in western medicine. I truly enjoyed my experience here. If you are looking for a long term solution to your health issues, instead of the «quick fix» that doesn’t really last try Health Tune-​up.

My right shoulder has gradually got worse over time, very painful; I spend all day in front of a computer moving a mouse about with my arm stuck out at more or less the same angle. I’m sure that this is the cause of my pain. I started my treatment with both Dr Sun and Dr Xia, I can tell you after 3 treatments, my shoulder has improved a lot! I also got treated with my back pain. I have lived in China for 9 years. On and off I have been going to acupuncture for various pains. I can tell you that they are really good at what they are doing.
The clinic is very clean, nice ambient, the massage is very good too and I fall asleep all the time. Highly recommended.

I have been a patient at Dr. Xia’s clinic for many years. My chronic lower back stiffness and soreness is treated with deep pressure massage and acupuncture to the point of being pain-​free whenever I have flare-​ups, usually the result of sitting too long on flights or working around the yard with heavy lifting. I have had frozen shoulder treated a few times with great success, too. Her flexible scheduling is especially convenient for people with busy schedules. She accepts insurance and takes care of the paperwork and filing, too.
The rooms at the clinic are spotless, immaculate and comfortable.
Lastly, if you are afraid of needles, don’t let this be a deterrent to trying Chinese medicine. The needles are very very fine, much thinner than the needles used for getting shots and drawing blood and most of the time I never even feel them. If I do feel them it is a very gentle stinging sensation (I hesitate to use the word «stinging» because it is in no way painful and more like a tickling sensation) that does not persist and nothing even remotely close to drawing blood or getting a vaccination. Don’t be intimidated by the thought of needles. You will find that it is not a concern compared to the benefit of the treatment.

Before I came to Dr. Xia’s office, I already heard many good words from my friends.
As a Chinese, I thought acupuncture is cool but may not be that fast to cure your pain. Until few weeks ago.
I had frozen shoulder on my left shoulder. It’s been several month starting from limited mobility moving my left arm up straight. It was a little pain but not sever. After my trip to Europe, it went from bad to worst. I couldn’t move my left arm much not just pulling upwards but other directions as well. I feel sever pain when I try to toss a tennis ball. I finally decided to give a try at Health Tune-​up.
Dr. Xia checked my shoulder carefully and recommended to give me acupuncture with after massage. The massage was not enjoyable because of my stiff muscles. I felt pain after the massage. Then Dr. Xia gave me acupuncture on my left shoulder for 30 min. It was very comfortable and relaxing.
After the first treatment, I was told to come next day to have second treatment.
The second day I came in, it was about the same routine. I can feel my stiff muscles getting soften and the acupuncture was pleasant.
The miracle happened on the third day.
I was able to move my left arm with no pain except the minor limitation from several month ago. Wow, I was so surprised and impressed. I felt like 95% healed.
After keep exercising what Dr. Xia taught me in the office. my shoulder is 100% recovered. I can now do pushups and pull ups!

You may do tune-​ups to your car every year. Why not yourself? Your body is way more important than your car.

I have been going to this place for 4+ years now and find the experience to be very calming. They are on top of the schedules and make sure that you get a timely reminder and are also very flexible with rearranging the appointments if needed. I have been going to Dr. Xia for over 10 years now, and let’s say there’s a reason that I’ve been loyal to her office for a decade. I started going for tune ups while playing sports during high school and college, whether it’s pulled muscles, sprained ankles and even a hairline fracture, she’s always managed to reduce the pain and speed up my recovery! Everyone is always professional, the atmosphere is calm and serene, and for any acupuncture skeptics, it doesn’t hurt a bit! With Dr. Xia anyway, I wouldn’t trust any one else for it!
Now let’s talk about the messages and facials! They are just absolutely amazing, I feel like a brand new person after every session. With just a couple facial appoints at Dr. Xia my skin tone evened out, all my breakouts disappeared and pores greatly minimized. As for the messages, I sometimes go for muscle soreness/​pains, and other times just if I needed some true relaxation. No matter what the purpose I go for is, I can guarantee that I never leave disappointed!

When I lived in sunnyvale I was going here for massages. Oh boy let me tell you… I want to move back JUST for this place. The rooms and location is SOOO clean and nice. A very well taken care of place. The acupuncture and massages were ALWAYS amazing and they helped me with my back problems. Also the ladies here are so sweet and polite. They remember your name every single time. I would HIGHLY reccomend this for anyone. !!

Went to this place for the first time. This place is clean and Dr. Xia is professional. Because I’m new to this place, I didn’t want to start all the service she recommend, so I only had massage for the first time. If I like the service, then I’ll will go again. But the service was a little disappointed. The person who massage was not Dr. Xia. I had my head down so I don’t know who this lady was, but she was very quick. It seems to me that she wants to rush through the service, even she pushed my head out of the pillow and I had to adjust myself during the process. Didn’t enjoy at all.

I have been using Dr. Xia’s services since her office was on Knickerbocker Drive in Mountain View… over 10 years ago.
I walk out of each treatment feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. She has helped me overcome sore muscles, carpal tunnel, migraine headaches, back pain. The acupuncture and Chinese medicine treatments really work. I have referred colleagues and friends, and their ailments were treated with success.
Dr. Xia assesses your ailments and defines effective treatment plans. I have not been disappointed in all these years.

Okay, so before I begin my review I must admit that I am an acupuncture virgin.
I’ve never had acupuncture done on my body before I went to Regina Xia at Health Tune-​up. I was a bit scared at the beginning but growing tired of the stiff muscles due to computer work all day long, I gathered the courage to try it out.
Wow!!! Although I have been here only once, I know from my first experience itself that Regina and her staff seem like thorough professionals and know what they’re doing. The first time, the doc (Regina) spends a few minutes in consultation which includes finding out about your health, medical history etc… and then she gives a little introduction on Chinese medicine. I told her that I am a software engineer and spend 8+ hours typing away, slouching on a chair! C’mon you know it! We all slouch! She examined my upper back and just by mildly touching it, she could tell that my upper back was stiff!
After the consultation, a massage therapist massaged my upper body with focus on my upper back and shoulders.
Regina later came back and inserted a few pins on my back. I FELT NOTHING! wow! it was pain free. After that I lay under the heat lamp with the needles in my back for about 10 minutes or so.
My body was a bit sore but not for long.
BTW, she accepts certain health insurance. You may want to check before going or alternatively, they can find out for you.
I plan on going again and making it a regular thing.
