Bill Allen – State Farm Insurance Agent

It’s not their fault I get a static shock whenever I come to their office and walk out of the door (bzzzzzzt) :p it just happens !
Robin Ota has the warmest welcome and it hasn’t changed over the years I’ve been with Statefarm! She’s attentive, calm (very important !), knows her work very well, and is really friendly. She’s probably one of the reasons I stayed with Statefarm all these years. She is on top of things — renters insurance, I have moved several times and she has faxed the damn thing to several places. My daughter recently got her car and needed it insured… Easy peasy. We got my car and her car into a multi-​car plan.
The office is small but cozy. There’s not so much to do there anyway. Bring your IDs and zoom, zoom. New grad HS students with 3.0+ GPAs get special discounts :)
Calling the office if they don’t answer — that’s because she may be talking to clients. I’ve seen it. They do not pick up the phone when they have people in the office. They call back promptly though. I’m sure I have spoken with Bill on the phone before but not as often as Robin. They are both very personable and nice.
My Statefarm agents — like a good neighbor — really !

I had a State Farm agent based in Huntington Beach for years after moving to the Bay Area and thought it was time to get a more local agent. Good reviews on Unilocal so I gave Bill Allen a try. As other mention, Bill Allen isn’t real — you only deal with his office manager Robin. She’s very nice but I am not pleased with this office and I suppose State Farm in general. Since switching, my rates have literally DOUBLED. I was paying around $ 83/​month for years and that was including renters insurance. All of the sudden my rates start creeping ($ 90, $ 100, $ 112 which I assumed were due to address changes and mileage recording — which by the way they never asked for in all the years I’ve been with State Farm until now) and now the letter I got in the mail today — $ 159.99!!! Are you joking? I’m finding insurance elsewhere ASAP and will be calling Bill, I mean, Robin first thing Monday morning. Ridiculous!

I have dreaded every letter from Bill Allen the last year. I have not once actually spoken to Bill Allen, instead always talking to Robin. Even when I’ve tried to talked to Bill, I am re-​routed. I do not like not being able to talk to the person I’m actually contracted to work with.
When I first signed up, I didn’t set up an auto-​pay, as I wasn’t quite settled with a credit card and bank account. Because of this I had to pay 2 months worth. That was fine, except then I set up my auto pay. The second month, I was charged! I called and Robin spent quite a while understanding my problem. Finally she agreed with me and promised to update. The next month, no change, still paying despite having already paid 3 months worth. Called Robin again. This time she took forever to remember my problem, which irked me that they didn’t note it somewhere.
Finally they fixed the problem. Then I was hit with a fee for changing my policy. The way that they ‘fixed’ the problem actually cost me money. It took another 5 months to get that fee reversed.
Add to that they are very unresponsive, particularly through email. Even calling them took several tries.
I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I’m not sure why there are so many raving reviews here. I’ve had renter’s insurance with this agent for a year in Sunnyvale, CA. No claims however I have tried on multiple occasions to get in touch with my insurance agent with no success. I have other property and would have liked to consolidate to one insurance company, no response. I now have a question regarding storage coverage, again, no response. I sent an email through the State Farm website, and left a voicemail. How does an agent do business if he doesn’t respond to client inquiries to give him more business?

I’ve been a highly satisfied customer with State Farm for over 2 years now since Robin Ota at this location helped me transfer my insurance from a different provider to State farm.
I have had the most pleasant experience working with Robin — she is very helpful, proactive, courteous and insists on the highest standards of customer satisfaction. Be it transfer of renter’s insurance, looking to save money through discounts or increasing coverage — they are always ready to help and in the most pleasant way with minimal effort on your part.

I have to add my kudos for this office! I’ve been with Robin & Bill since I started auto insurance at 16. Since then I’ve had renter’s insurance, homeowner’s insurance, and my spouse’s auto policy with them. Robin (who is the main contact), is always sure to get me the best discount (multi-​line, good driver, etc…) and is prompt in responding when I have a question. Twice, she’s even called to remind me that I missed the payment deadline on my bill. That’s good service! I’m sure it’s not the cheapest insurance I could get, but it’s WAY worth it to know that someone is looking out for me. Plus Robin is super personable and easy to work with!

First, I want to say Statefarm is really a good company and I have insurance products with them for more than 4 yrs (@ Arizona and Nevada)
Robin is very helpful and always gets back to you on time.
But I do have complaints about how they charged me.
1. I bought a house and switched both my auto insurance in May.
So the quotes are based on my new residence address. After I realized that I can’t move in till June and it costs less if park both my cars at old address (which I have to cause I still live there), I requested a refund of $ 10. This $ 10 is the one month premium difference between two addresses. Robin says she’ll do it in May and didn’t get it done until I called again then she finally did it. She even said $ 10 is really not that much. Which I don’t agree because every bucks is hard earned and is precious in today’s economy crisis.
2. Because of previous complaint, I started collecting quotes again and I switched all my insurances to a different company with better premium charges. I called Robin and and requested the refund of remaining balance. It was exactly one month after the coverage started. So I expect to get ~83% (⁵⁄₆ = 5 remaining months/​full 6 months premium) of my auto insurance money back. But no, the checks are only 72% of my 6 months premium. I made several calls to get my money (~$ 66) back. Robin’s explanation is she didn’t process the refund, it’s their head quarters.
In short, Robin is very helpful but may be too busy to handle the CORRECT refund requests. You better check your bills and refund checks more closely. Since I will have my money back, I gave Robin 4 stars.

Been going here for over 5 years now for all sorts of coverage — car, renters’ and personal article. Robin has been terrific to work with. She responds quickly to email and always answers the phone. I hope she manages to take some vacation :)

We just moved over to Bill Allen and State Farm after receiving HORRIBLE customer service from our previous agents at Farmer’s. I called to get a quote and Robin had a quote for me in no time. I was able to get it all done over the phone and in one day I was insured! No hassle and I didn’t even have to go in to the office. I called at another time with a question and got the answering machine but Bill responded to me within ½ hour and was very courteous. He promised me an answer the following day and sure enough I had my answer the very next day! I highly recommend this office.

I’ve been using State Farm insurance for my car and renter’s insurance for many years at this location, and have always had courteous fast service from my agent Bill Allen and Robin. Both of them are very friendly and will give you the coverage you need.
I had to make a claim for a stolen bicycle (renter’s insurance), and the claim and check to reimburse me were done in 1 – 2 weeks at the most. Very much recommend them… am reviewing them now as I had to cancel my plans since I’m moving to Canada (which was very easy to do).
