I found myself suddenly free on a Friday afternoon and decided that I desperately needed a mani/​pedi. Winter has not been kind to my hands and feet and I could definitely use a little bit of pampering. I hopped on Unilocal and found a place nearby work — Ava Salon popped up and showed positive reviews and a convenient location (right across the street from the Trader Joe’s plaza). In my excitement, I forgot to call ahead.
The ladies here are absolutely wonderful. From the second I walked through the door, I felt welcome and cared for. They took me in immediately as a walk in and made sure I was comfortable. To start — I was wearing the worst possible outfit for a pedicure — jeans and boots. The ladies here offered me a change of clothes so that I could properly enjoy the foot bath and massage. They are very meticulous and took their time shaping my nails and making my cuticles look the best that they’ve looked in a long time.
I’m a little boring when it comes to nails — I just want things clean. I opted for a gel french manicure and the ladies here did a great job! They always asked for my opinion and were quick to make adjustments to make sure that I was happy. It’s been five days and it still looks great!

I found this Salon just walking one day. I stopped in for a haircut and Ava did a great job. I recently moved from TX and left my regular barber behind. Since then i was having to resort to the great clips/​sport clips option. I would get a different person each time, and have to wait to get butchered. I am happy to have found this place and have been back many times now. The haircut is only $ 10 and can add a shampoo massage for $ 5.

Came to this place for a pedicure. They used clean sanitized tools and the people are friendly. However, the pedicure was «ok» nothing special. She didn’t do a great nail polish job. You can see where she didn’t paint the whole nail. Another thing is this place needs a desperate facelift. I was really debating on leaving when I was waiting because the pedi chairs and sink faucets are filthy. Wires are exposed from the wall. Didn’t seem very clean. In fact, it’s cluttered. I won’t be coming back to this place.

Great prices, great service and very sweet. Tina did an amazing job on my acrylic nails. Xoxo also they give our delicious snacks like wasabi peas ;) Yummmm

This salon is the very embodiment of hair salon horror stories. Avoid it at all costs. (For the record, the total cost for a cut and a perm was $ 75 including tip, but I will not come here again even if I was paid the same amount.) I specifically asked for Tina when I made my appointment, but no one at the salon speaks English, and the woman that was appointed to me was extremely ambiguous about her name, so I am still not sure who utterly destroyed my hair. I brought photos of the front, side, and back views of the style that I wanted, but pseudo-​Tina proceeded to dump scalding hot water on my face, cut my forehead with a comb, and gave me a head full of very tight curls straight from the 60s. Do not go to Ava Salon. You have been warned.

I’m writing this review on behalf of my fiancée. He goes here to get their men’s haircut, and refuses to go anywhere else, because they do such a great job. He usually goes in the mornings, and there is never a wait. The price is right too, only $ 10. Lynn and Tina are wonderful, they are very accurate and professional. Hidden gem for men’s haircuts as far as my fiancée is concerned!

These ladies are so fun! Came in during a Sunday afternoon (around lunch time) and was helped immediately. I wanted an A-​line cut and to change my hair color to a red-​velvet tone.
Instead of just going at your hair like most places do, this place asks you questions and are very conservative with your haircut. For example, when I say I want ½″ trim, most places cut my hair 1″ sometimes more…
This place cut a small amount and asked if it was good enough or if I wanted more. I love that they do that! If only all places were careful… would’ve saved me from so many bad haircuts…

This place is great value for money. Pedicures are $ 20 and also include a paraffin wax in that price! It was done perfectly and my feet are loving it. Also the shampoo, blow dry were awesome. The ppl that work here are very thorough and sincere in their job. They don’t have the grumble-​and-​gossip-​in-​foreign-​language situation that most Asian places have. Ppl here are very friendly which makes a big difference for a relaxing place like a salon.

Second time coming here and I have to say that I’ll be coming here more often for my hair. The staff are really nice and welcoming. There customer service is the best compared to other salons I’ve been too.

Ava Salon and Spa offers first class customer service. This was my first time with them and I was very impressed with the quality of the service and care they offer.
Tina did a great job in styling my frizzy hair into natural loose curls.
I highly recommend this place to everyone.

I’ve lived in the area for about a year and have paid $ 60+ for a couple of disappointing haircuts since I moved here. Not the case at Ava — I paid $ 25 for the best haircut I’ve had in a long time.
I called to make an appointment and Tina fit me in the same morning. She was a good listener when I described what I was looking for, then included a fantastic scalp massage with my shampoo. She did a thorough job cutting, blow drying, and straightening my hair, and asked for my input throughout. It was also nice that she didn’t push any products on me.
I was very happy with my finished haircut and will definitely be back. This place is a hidden treasure!

My first visit to a hair salon in 7 years and I’m sure the picture shows what a difference it made.

Had the most amazing experience at Ava today with Tina. I got in around 10:30 and left around 12pm so happy with my results! I got my hair highlighted one year ago (dark brown base, and light brown highlights). Because I waited so long, my hair has been looking blonde and extremely light and unhealthy. I wanted to go a little darker this time with some dark red highlights, and I wanted to get rid of the blonde streaks completely. Tina was able to effortlessly give me dark red highlights (not too crazy, like I mentioned being worried about) but still very noticeable. She also did a second progress where she covered the blonde streaks near the bottom of my hair with dark brown color, so it looked closer to my roots and very natural. At the end, because it was a holiday weekend, she even styled my hair! She gave me natural, light curls that stayed through the course of the day, which is insane for my hair because it usually is so thin it can’t hold curls. I was so happy with the way my hair came about and was touched with how amazing Tina’s service was.
Tina was extremely conversational, sweet and professional throughout the process. Moreover, her prices are extremely reasonable compared to most, if not all of the salons in the area. Her daughter brought water, because it was a hot day, and they were extremely accommodating with the amount of time my sister and I both spent deciding between various colors for our highlights.
Forget those pricey, fancy salons you’re used to going to because you’re scared if you don’t go there, your hair might get damaged. Absolutely not the case — Tina at Ava will make you forget all your worries and leave you an extremely happy customer. Can’t wait to be back!

Went here on a Wednesday evening. Called ahead to book 2 appts. for mani/​pedi at 5:30pm. We didn’t leave until 7:30 because one lady was going back and forth between doing my nails and my friend’s since the other lady was coloring someone’s hair. They are not the cleanest location as I saw them washing bowls for hair dye in the pedicure sink where people put their feet. Some of the towels they used had holes in them as well. The shellac color selection has room for improvement along with the brushes they use to paint your nails, which had bristles going in different directions. I chose this location based off of previous reviews thinking I would be satisfied with the quality of service and the end results, but I was wrong. This was the worst shellac manicure I have ever had.

Sport Spa Pedicure included a sugar and paraffin wax exfoliation and hot stone massage for $ 25. It was okay, but not the best I’ve received. The pedicure was fine — my toenails looked quite cleaned up and the coats were even, smooth, and there wasn’t any mess left over on my skin at all.
I did get a manicure with no polish ($ 10). The finish was okay, but my nails aren’t as well-​shaped as I would have liked.
All in all it was adequate and the price was okay. Not sure if I would come back since I would usually prefer to do my own nails but nothing to complain about.

I recently had a bad hair salon experience at Planet Beauty, the hair stylist chopped off my hair in a way where the layers were extremely choppy. My friend suggested for me to come here! I was very skeptical and very worried because I did not want to waste anymore money, but after my visit, I have no regrets and it was well worth the trip!
Tina was my hair stylist, she is a very sweet woman who really knows how to listen to what look you are trying to achieve. I asked to have my roots touched up, my color to be restored, highlights, and to somehow fix my horrible choppy hair. All I had to do was show her a picture of what I wanted and watch TV. It was beautiful.
She truly knows what she’s doing and she gives the best scalp massages when she’s washing your hair!
When I saw my hair’s results after the color and trim, I was surprised and way more than happy! She was able to give me the color tones I wanted and also make my layers flow! Her prices are also incredible! So reasonable compared to Planet Beauty and other salons I have visited. I normally only write reviews on places that have poor service, but Tina changed my bad experience into a great experience so I want to write this for her!
Tina, you most definitely have a loyal and returning customer! Thank you again!

Five stars for the pedicure. There are many options for pedicures and I went for the basic package for $ 20, which included paraffin wax exfoliation treatment and hot stone massage. My friend and I enjoyed this extra pampering. I also noticed that they had sterile pedicure sets for each person so I didn’t have to worry about hygiene.
It was easy to get an appointment. I called around 11 to schedule an appointment around noon. The Salon conveniently has a parking lot in the back.
I definitely will be returning and bringing my friends along in the future.

I’m still trying to find my go-​to hair salon in this area. I dropped into this place with no appointment, and one of the appointments was a no-​show, so the lady slipped me in to get my haircut.
I keep an A-​line cut, so the hairstylist concentrated on the back, cutting, layering and buzzing. Then she blended the front so there was a gradual slant, and then took an iron to my hair to straighten it out and leave a bit of an inward curve at the ends. She commented that I have a lot of hair and my hair is coarse, which I guess… is a compliment? I’m not sure.
I would have liked the front section of my hair to be left longer because I like a more dramatic A-​line, but my hair still looks good. I got compliments on it and it still looks edgy. I’d also like to add that the lady who got her hair done before me walked away with amazing-​looking hair! Wavy, bouncy, and gorgeous.
Unfortunately their credit card machine was broken, so they could only take cash. I feel really bad because I only had $ 16 cash on me and it was a $ 20 haircut. She still took my $ 16, which is so kind of them. I’m not 100% sold on making this my go-​to salon, but I definitely will be coming back… and paying some extra tip to make up for it!
