Sunnyside Inn Bed & Breakfast

We enjoyed out stay at the Inn. Don and Karen were great with providing a «Locals» point of view. The place is very nice and well maintained. far superior to a cookie cutter hotel.

Friendly owners, good breakfast, very good location (a Starbucks inside of a Safeway is a 5 minute walk. The bathroom was very clean in our room and the bed was very comfortable. Billy the dog can be seen in the yard over and he’s very friendly.

We stayed here in November 2012. It is a wonderful home. Large comfortable rooms, the beds are amazing and the breakfast was tasty. They have done an outstanding job of making a warm inviting space.

I just returned home from a surprise birthday weekend with my mom. We stayed 3 nights and had an absolutely fabulous time! Our room had a private entrance, which was very convenient and gave us the freedom to come and go as we pleased without bothering other guests. Every night we watched movies from the collection they had available and shared a bottle of wine from the local wineries that we were able to tour throughout the area. Breakfast was delicious, the first morning it was just the two of us and we had a great time getting to know Don (the owner) and hearing how he and his wife came to enjoy life in Sunnyside. The next two mornings we sat and got to know other guests and hear their stories and made new friends. The kitchen is stocked with anything you would need, popcorn helped us enjoy the movies each night! Don also helped us find local shops, restaurants and gave us wonderful tips on wine tasting/​vineyards. Thank You for making my birthday weekend full of fun, new friends and comfort… I will be back for sure!

Anniversary trip to Sunnyside this weekend was made extra special by this cute b&b. The owners are super nice and made sure to accommodate our every need. Having food allergies & being at someone else’s mercy for breakfast can be scary. The owners were quick to ask about any allergies, and made sure I was well fed! Awesome!
The room was perfect. Quiet & relaxing. The spa tub as others have mentioned is great. Just what you need on a weekend away. Now, off to explore the wineries in the area.

I’ve been meaning to write this review since last summer, so better late than never, right?
I highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a quaint, restful stop. The inn is very clean, the rooms are huge, clean, and cozy with very nice updated flatscreen tvs, the bathrooms are wonderful (full jacuzzi tub?! Yes please), and the owners are wonderful people. They were very warm and welcoming, and made my boyfriend and I feel right at home. You’ll have full access to the kitchen, so if you want popcorn or a midnight snack of ice cream, you can help yourself.
The breakfast is wonderful. We had the best coffee, fresh fruit, and blueberry pancakes! So so good, and much better quality than having to go pay extra for it at some diner.
The location isn’t bad either. My boyfriend and I like to walk, so we ended up walking to the local brewery for dinner. I realize that’s probably a stretch for many, so rest assured that everything is within a 3 – 5 minute drive if you’re looking to go out to eat.
Make sure to stop in at this B&B! It’s well worth your time and money and I have recommended it to all my friends.

Had a really hard time trying to figure out where to stay before exploring the Yakima Valley /​Red Mountain wine scene as many places require a two night stay on the weekend, were booked up, or were a bit pricey (over $ 200/​night). So, we stumbled upon this inn and gave it a try. The people who took the reservation and checked us in were very nice, so hopefully this review doesn’t come off as offensive in any way. I am just trying to provide some more information that I would’ve wanted to know prior to deciding to stay there.
1) Location– Sunnyside wasn’t the best place to stay, as other reviewers suggest. The faint smell of manure was ever-​present, there weren’t really any places to eat other than Snipes Brewery (which was meh!), and there was absolutely nothing to do on a weekend night. Most things were closed at 7−8pm.
2) The Inn itself– Definitely a bit more rough around the edges than I expected and not exactly worth $ 120 /​night. It is on the corner close to «downtown»… I was worried about noise from cars/​stereos but fortunately that wasn’t an issue. The place has several different entrances and little areas which was a bit confusing. The décor reminded me of my hometown in rural Ohio — very country bumpkin and fairly dated, though the room itself had some nice additions and updates including the jacuzzi tub. The biggest complaint is that the «downstairs» rooms are in fact in the basement and receive little light. The boyfriend woke up in the middle of the night thinking we were in a dungeon. Also, being downstairs meant that you could hear everytime a person moved upstairs. From the squeaking floors, to conversations, to the incredibly loud running of water and jacuzzi jets (Seriously, it sounded like an airplane engine!), it made it really difficult to just relax and enjoy some peace and quiet. I did appreciate the board game and movie selection, however.
3) Breakfast — We actually opted out of breakfast because it is only served between 815 – 845 am. Seeing as though we were on vacation and looking to be lazy, waking up and getting ready for breakfast by 830 wasn’t ideal. True, we aren’t the typical B&B patrons (i.e. we are under age 50) but still I wish I would’ve known this or I would’ve spent the same amount for a regular hotel without breakfast.
So there you have it, a little more information than what is provided on the website. I think the moral of the story is that B&Bs aren’t the best place for a 20-​something couple to stay for a romantic getaway.

Had a great stay. Very reasonable prices for the rooms, and you get a lot for your money. The owners are very personable and are good cooks. Lots of seating outside and very nice patio in case you want to eat out there. There are DVDs and tapes in case you want to watch one in your room. Comfy beds, nice homey décor. Loved it!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Karen room. Both Don and Karen were very welcoming, interesting and great cooks! Don’s homegrown tomatoes were delicious. The room was quite comfortable and despite the hot weather stayed cool. It was fun to enjoy ice cream and cookies in the evening. Even though the town was not that eye-​catching, the Fiesta Market was a visit into the local culture. Sunnyside is close to wineries and should we return to the Washington wine area, we will revisit this wonderful B&B!

We stayed here the weekend after my birthdayto go and explore the wineries. The place itself was lovely. The room was huge and beautiful, very cozy. The bathroom was huge and had a nice sized hot tub. It was nice and cozy, and although there was another couple there we couldn’t even tell, it felt like our own oasis. The young woman who was running it made yummy breakfasts in the morning and provided good conversation. Also, they had these delicious cookies and ice cream that we ate while watching one of their many movies in our cozy room. The only down side, which I know that they can’t control, is the area directly there does not have a lot going on, and is very smelly (cow manure), otherwise I would HIGHLY recommend this place…

We have stayed here 3 times now, in 3 different rooms. Each time, we have amazing breakfasts, good room experiences, and the Vliegers (who own the place) are lovely. For what you can spend on a hotel room in this area, I highly recommend you check out Sunnyside, because you’ll be surprised how much you’ll get for your money here.
All but one room has double sized jacuzzi tubs. They also have free wifi. Sunnyside (the city) is not the mecca of culture, but there are several eating spots walking distance or a short drive.

Was nice. Biggest tub ever! and the hot water was sooo hot. Avoid the roadhouse down the street though and go to the taco truck!!!
