The Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort has been an important part of the Sunny Isles Beach landscape since 1968. Throughout the years, our hotel has catered to a steady crowd of VIPs, including famous entertainers like, Sammie Davis Jr., Tina Turner, The Platters, Jimi Hendrix and many others. Today, families from all over the world make our resort their home away from home when choosing Miami as their vacation destination. Our beautiful oceanfront location combined with a wide range of wonderful services and amenities, continues to bring guests to our property every year.

We have gone through extensive interior and exterior renovations to help provide more modern amenities for our guests, while still preserving the nostalgia of the Newport’s distinguished history. From the valet area and lobby, to the restaurant, guestrooms and pool deck, the redesign has never compromised any of the hotel’s unique architectural characteristics.

Great efforts have been given to revitalizing the Newport’s legacy of being a carefree, fun and exciting travel destination. Part of the Newport’s preservation efforts focused on a joint collaboration with the City of Sunny Isles to restore the landmark fishing pier located on the beach behind the hotel. The owners of the Newport generously donated two million dollars to the city for this project to ensure that our guests could have access to the pier free of charge.

History

Established in 1967.

As the city of Sunny Isles celebrates its 10th Anniversary of incorporation, the rapidly changing landscape has evolved from a sleepy sandbar to #1 Travel Hotspot. New real estate, restaurants and stores have brought an added and appealing dimension to the quality of life here.

On the scene from the beginning, The Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort once attracted a steady crowd of more than 600 VIPS nightly, including famous entertainers such as Sammie Davis Jr., Tina Turner, The Platters and Jimi Hendrix and others.

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the hotel is undergoing extensive interior and exterior renovations that will provide more modern amenities for guests while preserving the nostalgia of the Newport’s distinguished history.

From the restaurant, rooms and pool, 50 percent of the redesign’s inspiration is matched by 50 percent of the hotel’s preservation. Great detail is being given to reviving the carefree, smart and fun way to travel characteristic of years past.

I was so happy to come on Unilocal and see that this hotel had horrible reviews because it’s been a nightmare working with them.
Someone who works here told me that I send my PDF’s upside down. :/​To which I replied, «How old are you?»
This also from the same person who deletes all my emails because he thinks they’re «SPAM» …Get the fuck over yourself, no one wants to hack into your computer.
This hotel is a nightmare. Just Don’t.

I called every line at 6am for about 35 minutes for a fork and knife. I was told «no «once I got though to the front desk. I find it strange I have a microwave to heat up my food but you are unwilling to bring utensils. On top of it, I am a guest, I am seasoned in the hospitality business and the answer is always yes. Not to mention the tiles on the balcony are cracking and you feel like your going to fall through balcony. In conclusion, this is not a place I would recommend to anyone.

Vile and disgusting hotel. Rude staff. Dirty rooms, smells like the inside of the Devils asshole in the lobby and not much better in the rooms. Would highly recommend avoiding it!

Place was decent. A little dated considering the price of the rooms but I’m assuming it’s b/​c it’s in «Miami»…sort of. Staff seemed friendly enough but BEWARE there is a $ 250 deposit on the room plus payment of the FULL amount up front. Also, don’t try to split the room with 2 cards because you’ll get double charged on BOTH cards! It was a mess! Beach bar was nice and so was the private beach in the front of the hotel. We had a «partial pool/​beach view» room and it was surely that. Very nice but half of the view was the rooftop of the other building. Also, the hotel is right on the highway. Pretty tight squeeze but nice overall for a quick little getaway.

I came to a wedding here today and I can honestly say I had an amazing time. The waiters were on point tonight, supper attentive to all of the guest. The apps were great, and the drinks were amazing. The entrée was good as well as the cake. They did everything they could to keep us entertained. I honestly thought i was going to be a little disappointed, but it was beyond what I imagined. Our bartender mario went above and beyond to keep us satisfied. Thank you guys for a great time.

We’ll be writing a more in depth review of this place, but just had to get this out as soon as possible. AVIOD THIS PLACE. We had $ 300 stolen from our safe. Worse customer service. Rooms are low quality. Tear it down already.

I received a good deal on «BookIt​.com», so my experience is based on that deal.
Upon arrival for check-​in, the front desk clerk was awesome! Everything took about 5 minutes and I was on my way up to the room.
Room: Super clean. I had a King Suite, so the room came with a ‘living room’ with a pullout couch bed and the normal bedroom towards the back. Very spacious.
Furniture was pretty ‘used’, but that didn’t bother me. The bed was comfy and the pillows were nice as well.
Bathroom: VERY tiny. Only one person at a time in there. (Two ladies trying to use the bathroom in the morning to get ready is impossible… unless you REALLY know each other well.)
Bar in the lobby: The bartender was funny, helpful, and honest. I had two glasses of champagne and we chit-​chatted about anything and everything. She really seemed to care about what I had to say. :)
Here’s the only downside, which I keep hearing is normal for hotels like this: the parking situation.
It’s $ 20 self parking or $ 25 valet — per day. The self-​parking means you have to park across the street (and cross the busy road.) I did just that and it wasn’t a problem, but I’m sure for some (like if it was raining or if you’re elderly) the valet would be the way to go.
Overall, it was easy to find and the hotel pleased me for the short amount of time I spent in it. I’d recommend this place if you were in the area.

Booked this hotel through Groupon Oceanfront One Bedroom Suite for my boyfriends birthday. Total came out to $ 300 for 2 nights. Sounded like a good deal especially right by the beach … I knew it was too good to be true.
Self parking across the street was $ 20/​day. The hotel is the smallest one on the block and looks old. Out of curiosity my bf asked one of the front desk employees how old the hotel was, and he told us it used to be a Holiday Inn when it first opened in the 80s O_​o We get to our room which was pretty decent for the 2 of us. We had a king size bed, a couch, fridge, microwave, safe and a small sink. The edges of the doors were rusted, and when we started up our «jetted bathtub» for a nice romantic bubble bath, our mood was instantly killed by the brown dirt that was floating all over the water coming from the jets… Gross! The most disappointing part, for me at least, was the so-​called «ocean-​view». Our room was on the second floor, yes it was in front of the ocean but we had people literally walking right in front of our balcony. I could’ve reached over and touched someone’s head because of how close we were, and our view was mostly of a children’s playground. My bf’s complaint was that the tv took forever to turn on and we only had like 15 channels lol.
However, what made our stay enjoyable and relaxing was the gorgeous pier they have and the food at the tiki bar. Plus we stayed during a weekend when it wasn’t extremely hot and it was nice and breezy, so we didn’t use the pool or get in the water by the beach but the pool area was very nice and we had beach chairs for free. We also had a lot of different places right across the street so the only time we drove was to go to aventura mall. They also had cute little birds in the lobby and a big gorgeous Christmas tree.
We still enjoyed our stay of course and made the best out of it but we were expecting better. At least they had good food lol, but we won’t be staying here again.

I think the main selling point of this place is the private beach behind the hotel. The beach is small, but looks very beautiful. It is also located near the Newport Municipal Fishing pier. The hotel is not as good as the beach. My room was OK. The WIFI was good, but not great. The two television sets in the room were old. I was not able to hook up my iPad or iPhone (via HDMI) to it. There was not enough electrical outlets. However, the view from my balcony was amazing. The shower worked fine. The room was clean. The AC worked fine. I really like their breakfast buffet, some rooms come with a breakfast buffet. This hotel charges a lot of extra fees (10 dollars for failure to return the pool card), so be careful. Make sure you get a reciept after you return your room key. Customer service was friendly. There are plenty of places to eat around the hotel.

Great hotel/​resort. The staff was friendly attentive and accommodating. The hotel was a little old but it was in a great area and the beach was its backside. It was beautiful. It also had 4 restaurants, a spa, and beautiful swimming pool. I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here as part of a time share program and this is what we experienced:
PROS:
–within walking distance from many chain And non chain restaurants
–free beach chairs (umbrellas $ 15, cabanas $ 35)
–comfy beds
–near aventura ($ 7 — $ 8 über) which has great shopping and restaurants that are more main stream
–non crowded beach and pool area
CONS:
–only getting 1 beach towel a person… not a deal breaker, just inconvenient since they are small anyways. And if you lose the pool card, they charge you $ 10. I have never stayed at a hotel that assesses fees for pool towels.
–we rented a car through the hotel and were told we could pick it up at 8am. When we went downstairs we were told the guy wouldn’t be there until 9am or after.
–constant smell of marijuana on our floor. Not sure if it was coming from guests or the workers doing renovations on the floor, but lord all mighty… everyone told me to get used to it because it’s «Miami» but I found this disgusting.
— the «free shuttle» to the aventura… beware! We got left at the mall after waiting for a hour because the hotel kept telling us the shuttle was coming. It never came. We had to über back.
Overall, would I return? Not unless it was free. It wasn’t a horrible stay but also not a place I would tell people to come visit.

We stayed here for 3 nights as a family with an infant. The accommodations provided were sufficient to sleep and watch a little TV, but it wasn’t a room you felt comfortable lounging in.
The check-​in was extremely slow, despite having 4 people working the front desk, it took 45 minutes to get our room keys. The hotel charges a $ 20 resort fee per room per night. Self parking is available across the street for $ 20 per night, and valet parking is available for $ 25 per night.
Our room was on the 3rd floor, so needless to say our view consisted of a parking lot. Rooms on this floor do not have balconies. We were placed across from the ice machine, which was extremely loud and busy all hours of the night.
The actual room consisted of a king size bed, a couch, a desk, a dresser and a TV. We had a small sink and counter which was allocated as a kitchenette, a microwave and a fridge. The couch was located behind a half-​wall divider, so you couldn’t see the TV from there. The mattress was OK, but the pillows were a disaster, flat and very small.
I called ahead to request a crib and when we got to the room it wasn’t there. So I had to go downstairs and ask for a crib. Once it arrived, the sheets used weren’t safe for the baby. They just took a flat sheet and tucked it under the mattress. To be safe, you should always use a properly sized fitted sheet for a baby mattress, otherwise you risk it bunching up, which could result in suffocation if the baby is unable to turn himself around.
The housekeeping was inconsistent from day to day. Sometimes we would get hand towels, other days we wouldn’t. I know the linens weren’t changed because our baby spit up on the sheet while doing tummy time, and later that night that same sheet was still there.
The pool was overcrowded. I would have liked to take my son swimming there, but there just wasn’t a quite corner to splash in. Even at 6pm or 7pm after the sun has already gone away, the pool was still crowded. You have towel cards, so one towel per person. I really dislike when hotels act like towel police and threaten you with a fine if you don’t return the correct amount. No one wants to steal your towels.
We didn’t try to eat on premises. There are plenty of great restaurants in the plazas across the street, Cuban, american, Asian, lots of choices. In the end, when you add the resort fee and the parking fee in addition to the cost of the room, I think the cost exceeds the quality provided. I will stay elsewhere next time.

I’ve now been to the Newport Beachside Resort several times over the years and it’s always been an adequate stay. This last time I was on the 9th floor in a traditional one bedroom suite. The room included two 42″ flat screens, a king sized bed, wet bar, safe, mini fridge, bathroom with jetted tub, and a few of both the city and ocean.
The room was clean and maid service ample in the afternoon hours. The hotel itself is always very busy which can lead to long lines to check-​in and out. There are lots of people that speak different languages at the hotel. It’s a popular international destination.
The best thing about the hotel is the location. Situated along Collins Avenue, the beach is right next to the back of the hotel. There was trash on the beach though. Cigarette butts, beer cans, plastic bottles. Ignorant people don’t seem to care how they tarnish nature. The pool is a decent size. There’s also a baby look for the little ones.
There’s an exit ramp that takes you over the causeway and over into Miami Beach. Parking or valet is expensive, $ 20/​day to self park or $ 25/​day for valet. This seems to be customary in Miami.
We had numerous problems with our room key. They didn’t work so we had to get them reset numerous times. Aside from that hassle, I don’t really a complaint. The water pressure in the tub was pretty bad but that’s really all there was that’s negative.
Others here have spoken about the décor of some rooms and I can attest to that. I’ve been in a room or two here before where the décor was a few decades in the past. The room I stayed in this time was fantastic though. If they can model all rooms as they did this one, the hotel will be fantastic for everyone.

Arrived at 2:30pm to valet employees with zero initiative to help us. Went inside to be told that check in wasn’t until 4pm. Ok, no big deal, the bellhop offered to hold our luggage somewhere until we got a room & we went to the pool. The pool was crowded (holiday weekend) and kind of dirty, but I assume that was because of the overcrowding and guests eating and drinking in the pool.
Waited in a line that was as long as the lobby for 30 min., got to the desk at 3:50pm to be told that my room still wasn’t ready.
A little annoyed now, we went to dinner. Got back to the hotel at 5:30pm and waited in another long line, for an hour this time. When I tried to retrieve my phone charger from my luggage which was all in another room, there were women with attitudes who didn’t want to let me touch my stuff. They told me everything was being moved, even though I could see my belongings in front of me.
when we got to the desk the supervisor was very nice and upgraded our room for free. Which was awesome.
The room was nice. Beautiful views. Everything seemed clean. No complaints.
There was a scam wake up call that many guests warned about, asking for a credit card number. Which is sketchy.
All in all, I wouldn’t go back. I appreciated the upgrade. The bellhops were the friendliest and most helpful employees

A GIANT SCAM !!!
Disgusting customer service, seriously disgusting. No one should EVER go to this hotel. There’s no organization in this hotel, no one knows what they are doing or they have an attitude about doing minimal work.
ARRIVAL:
I came here for a family reunion, decided to stay 3 nights 4 days. Upon arriving the concierge were all lined up at the desks. We stood in front of them (the only guests in front of all four of them) and NONE of them bothered to help us let alone look up at us. It’s one thing if your busy at the moment at tell us you’ll be with us in a moment but it was if a wall was between us. It’s disrespectful. We are then told we need to give a $ 800 security deposit that will be returned 10 days AFTER checkout. Seems fishy.
ROOMS
Cleanliness must not be a top priority in this hotel. Come into our room (3hours after it was suppose to be made) there was hair in the tub, gum in wastebasket, only one ratty towel per person and one King bed despite us Having three people in a room. The Maids don’t start cleaning until late and they move the speed of the slug to do MINIMAL work. Within a day the bed was ruined by the air vent dripping on the bed. We went to the front desk they said they would fix it – two days nothing changed. Finally they gave us a room change.
ELEVATORS
Three TINY elevators that are super slow. One got jammed for an hour with a person inside. You can walk to the 12th floor faster then ride to the 6th floor.
HOTEL SHOP
This sells tiny snacks, Starbucks coffee, food. Says it be open by 7 am, line around the corner at 7:30 in the morning people waiting to get a cup of coffee without dining in. Bottle of water $ 4 bottle of juice $ 6 really??? There’s a cvs down the block.
BREAKFAST
Hot coffee? Non existent. Somewhat good food, prices above normal range (expected).
BEACH
Be prepared to be charged an arm and leg for an umbrella and even cushions for your chair. You get one flimsy towel in exchange for ur towel key. If towel key or room key is lost u pay $ 20 for a new one. We got 1 hut two umbrellas and 2 cushions came to $ 80. There are hotels that don’t charge for these things and this place charges you for literally everything. The customer service is disgusting ! When I told the beach crew they made a mistake with the amount of Cushions he laughed in my face, which he quickly stopped when I asked for the manager.
WIFI
Free and doesn’t work
There is a line wrapped around the lobby when it comes time for check in. The maids take their time, it was 8pm and they still were doing rooms. Simply unacceptable. It feels like a hotel where all the workers were randomly selected to do their job.
Giant waste of money. Go somewhere else !

Great hotel. Rooms were modern and clean. Comfy beds. Choice of free movies. .
However the customer service let it down. Let me start saying I rent this hotel and i paid in full almost $ 600.00 for the weekend. The African American guy on the front desk rolled his eyes when we asked him how something worked. I told him i had my confirmation number and he told me he need to hold $ 300.00 in my card cuz my room was not pay in full, He didn’t make us feel welcome at all it looks like he was mad cuz we were checking in around 11:00 PM. I demanded to speak to the manager which was the bigger mistake ever his name is Giovanni if you ever see someone on the front desk with a name tag Giovanni please wait for someone else to assist you, After a long chat back and forward finally I got my room. My first day of my b-​day weekend was not as great as I planted.
Second day at the hotel we asked for breakfast in bed and after that we when to the pool and we ordered drinks and food, I asked the pool attendant to added the tap to our my room, The manager had called the room 5 times, send the security and cancel my hotel keys cuz he need to speak with me regarding to a $ 140.00 tap that I added to my room on my second day at the hotel. Giovanni make me felt harass, we got into a huge argued on the front desk everybody else was looking he never apologized for nothing at all. It’s the worst service I’ve ever had. Never will be back

Didn’t stay here but attended the spa. Spa was well maintained. Good service and timely.
We went out to the beach tiki huts and enjoyed the view. We got served coconut shrimp and hummus, which was delicious, but for the large amount of hummus given, only a few pieces of pita and cucumber. Weak sauce in my opinion, but didn’t affect my overall experience.
This is a historic hotel that has been around for decades. No, it’s not a new high-​rise on the ocean, but do we really need another one of those anyways? I thought this place was classy and clean, and I enjoyed my time here.

People who work nice and friendly. The area in great and service even better than in Trump hotel where I stay last year .The swimming pool warm even in cold weather and large. Sylvia the girl who work at concierge desk can help you almost with anything. Room is clean and has jacuzzi décor look like 80th that I like. The spa Seven seas is awesome I will recommended these hotel to all my friends it’s nice and affordable

Caution: I never stayed here. I was trying to book a room here when traveling to Florida and had to call twice due to Expedia issues. Both times I called I was «Fourth In line» the last time I called I waited over an hour to speak to someone (please see my screenshot) but never actually did. The first time I waited a long time, more than 35 minutes but less than 45, and the second time became absurd. Normally, I would get bored and hang up but I wanted the screenshot for my review. The first call the person answering was very rude –even by Miami standards.
There are far too many hotels in South Florida to put up with this. It is cheap in comparison, but I guess they save by not paying someone to answer their phones?
I have been looking at Unilocal while waiting to be answered and see that terrible phone customer service may just be the tip of the iceberg.
I don’t typically write bad reviews (I’m sure it makes me a bad Unilocal person), I usually take the passive aggressive approach and just don’t go back to a bad place that my little one-​man boycott will teach them a thing or two –but hopefully I save you some headache.
