Marenas Beach Resort

My wife and I visited Marenas for our honeymoon and we have never been treated so poorly by hotel staff. The Manager argued with me when I told her our service for lunch took over an hour and I had to bring over a waitress to confirm. They began to talk about me in Spanish and when I began to speak in Spanish they were terrified. We had no hot water in the room — and they never came to check it. We ate breakfast and lunch at the resort restaurant and the food was terrible. The eggs tasted like bland garbage and the Cuban sandwich was a joke. I talked to the residents of the place who own condos and they hate it, too. They all shop at Publix across the street and no one buys any food or drink at the resort. The hotel was also dirty and the fountain in the front is growing mold. They have a limit on how many towels you use and charge $ 3.81 for a bottle of water. So bring your piggy bank!

Worst experience in Miami ever!
My Valentine’s Day Weekend was ruined because of this terrible place. I never want to post reviews on places but I feel so unhappy that this is the only thing I can do to feel better, the least I can do is prevent this experience from happening to anyone else.
1) When I got back to my room from brunch my shopping bag with a $ 500 dress was gone. Never have I heard of room service stealing/​throwing out a shopping bag in my life! Due to that happening, I had nothing to wear on Valentine’s Day. My boyfriends shopping bags were safe and sound though. I called the manager and she took 2 hours to get back with me. Manager Said, whoever cleaned the room is off and left the resort already. Had no record of who cleaned the room, no justice or closure what so ever…
2) Valet Took 40 mins every single time to get our vehicle, so we ended up paying for über instead ! Ridiculous they weren’t even busy. We even called 30 minutes ahead from the room just to go downstairs to stand and wait for our car (no waiting seats).
3) Super far from south beach where all the action is. Took 45 mins to get to restaurants/​bars.
4) In room dining sucked, took hours to get food, and they forgot things we ordered and still tried to charge us for it. Dirty Plates were left out in the halls. Room service/​valet barely spoke English. Hard to communicate !!! So annoying !
5) gym is small and packed limited rusty machines
6) construction was our view off the balcony
Complete unsatisfactory. Never staying there again. Don’t stay there !!!

Do not stay here!!! They will charge you last minute fees when you arrive to check in. They charge 27.00**** a day for valet and 20.00** a day resort fee. I know about paying fees at hotels but this hotel is NOT worth it. The rooms are microscopic and don’t bother asking for a microwave or anything extra. We stayed here for my bday and we paid 300 $ for dinner at a nice restaurant but couldn’t finish the food there. We thought there would be no problems because hotels have microwaves, we thought WRONG! They told us they would not microwave our food and that we could not get one in our room. They made us waste our food just because they want u to buy their expensive food instead.
I will never come back here again. You might think you are getting a deal online but wait until you actually arrive and have to pay 60 $ more a day.
The hotel is also VERY DIRTY. They have old food and trash sitting outside of almost every door because nobody ever comes to clean. The pool is so small that it’s more like a jacuzzi. There is also the worst customer service I have ever received. For these prices you might as well stay somewhere nice. It’s like having to pay hundreds of dollars a night to get treated bad.

The Marenas Resort looked like an outstanding place online to stay. My first impression was that the in the images of the hotel I had found online were not the same in person. The hotel in the pictures presented to be somewhat secluded from others. But there were in fact 2 larger towers extremely close to the hotel. Pulling into the hotel was eye opening. We had driven up a spiral driveway with well kept beautiful grounds and a very welcoming valet. Normally I’m not a fan of being forced to use valet, but there was no parking lot. Checking in was a very fast and welcoming process. Since it was our first stay the hotel had upgraded us to a suite with no extra charge.
The suite was very beautiful inside. All decently sized rooms. We had a full kitchen, living room, Full sized bathroom and bedroom with a king size bed. The balcony was off the living room and enough to fit 3 – 4 people comfortably.
The down side to the room was there were a couple light bulbs out, the sliding door to the balcony had to be muscled open and the housekeeping was horrible. Housekeeping didn’t come till about 3:00pm. Every day we had to ask for towels because they would take the old ones but forget to leave new ones and we had found the bathroom trash on the kitchen counter another day.
The restaurant in the hotel was pretty decent. The wait staff was great and the menu had some great selections. The prices in the restaurant were very reasonable. The only down side is that from the website the restaurant looks like it’s a separate area when in fact it is right in the main lobby.
The pool seemed to be loaded with sand each day because it was right on the beach. The beach staff was great offering towels, beach chairs and umbrellas. The beach was very well kept and always being maintained. The one down side was the beach would be shady by 2−3p and so would the pool area. If your spending the day on that beach I recommend getting out early to get the best pick of beach chairs. The bar staff at the beach complaining the entire time about how hot and slow the day was. As she was making our drinks the bartender had been talking to the waiter at the bar about the pimple he had on his face. After paying $ 30 dollars for 2 Pina Coladas we had noticed later that the drinks were only supposed to be $ 8 a drink.
Overall the experience of the resort was «Ok». The next time I visit it will be at a different resort.

I’ve read great things about this hotel. I will be traveling from Cali in December for a Hear game. I just booked a standard ocean view room. For those that have stayed, would you recommend getting a suite instead?
The only reason I didn’t book a suite was because there were no more ocean view suites. I’m worried about the standard room being too small.

Stayed overnight as this hotel was the Preferred Hotel of our event venue. I had an ocean front suite. Very European in its style and it came with everything you would need for a home away from home vacation: fully equipped kitchenette, iron, hair dryer even a stacked washer dryer. The view from the 24^th floor was fabulous. Had breakfast on the balcony, enjoying the view of the beach and ocean. Management and staff were pleasant and accommodating. Our meeting room was set up as arranged with a generous Continental breakfast. No issues. Although I live close by in Fort Lauderdale, I’ll be back when friends and family visit.

Came here for a Labor Day getaway with the hubby. Felt good right from the start — as soon as we walked in, saw the front desk staff kind of clustered and talking among themselves. However, as soon as they saw us walk in, they broke apart, and Andre started the check-​in process. Super friendly and welcoming, asking us where we were from, chatting a bit, and then told us to call if we needed anything, since he would be there until 11pm. I’m not used to anyone making conversation while checking into a hotel/​resort, so this was a pleasant surprise.
The lobby in itself looks warm and inviting — dark wood furniture, orange pillows and seat cushions to give a pop of color. Further in there is a dining area. Three elevators which happen to come up pretty fast — no impatient waiting as you jab at the up button.
As soon as we walked into our room, I loved what I saw. We had a suite, and it felt like a small apartment/​condo. I could see myself getting really cozy here, even if for a few days only. Have a balcony access, and the view was sort of good — to the side was the beach, but directly in front of us was the leveled off building that used to be there. Basically one big lot. Small living room, but had a coffee table, two chairs, and a two seater couch. Not the most comfortable couch to sit on, didn’t have any neck support, but it sufficed if you were only watching a show here and there. A TV in the living room and bedroom, but small. Again, good enough for some brief TV watching. I doubt anyone stays inside all day/​night when the beach is right outside!
Had a washer/​dryer, and while it was noisy, it got our clothes clean! Gave us a mini Tide wash/​packet every day. The sliding door broke off its track, but it didn’t hinder the washer/​dryer from functioning.
Hands down, my favorite aspect was the kitchen! We really got our use out of it! Looked so modern, with a large microwave built into the upper cabinets, large double door steel fridge, black counter top, double sinks, stove/​oven. Even had a Keurig machine and an assortment of pods: decaf French roast, breakfast blend, one green tea, fog chaser.
They ALMOST had everything one would need: stove/​baking tray, collander, glass cups, mugs, plates, bowls (small and large versions of each), an impressive knife set, forks, spoons, knives, several spatulas, slotted spoon, ladle, two pots, small Palmolive soap, a sponge. I wish they had some pans (would make cooking eggs a bit easier) and oven mitts. We were using our towels to take food out of the oven. The kitchen alone made me feel as if I were home. Liked the bar chairs/​bar table attached over the counter top.
Bathroom was very spacious. I could do a full blown workout in there! I wish they had double sinks, because it somehow feels more romantic if we could wash up for the night together. Standard shower, but had a sitting section attached to it, which helps if someone is either elderly or injured. The shower head was larger than normal and would often spray the bathroom floor if you didn’t get inside quickly enough. Oddly enough, the water pressure wasn’t strong. Bathroom seemed a bit simple in design/​décor, and very bland (beige and gray) colors but modern and elegant with the quality floor and shower tiles.
King sized bed, but cheap/​weak mattress. Sunk in so I always woke up with a sore lower back. Pillows were pathetic. Felt like they just gave a pillow case to sleep on! A night stand on each side with a lamp, an alarm clock, overhead lights on each side of the bed that could be dimmed to our preference. Plenty of drawers to store clothes in, both in the living room and bedroom, kind of like mix of a closet/​wall unit. Had a safe to store your stuff.
Central air condition for the unit, and it worked wonderfully! Was always nice and cold, sometimes too cold but wouldn’t have it any other way in the heat/​humidity. We even got to use the His/​her robes they hang in the bathroom!
Cleaning staff did a good job. But one time we called for extra toilet paper on the one day we didn’t have someone clean our room since my husband felt sick, and it took them nearly 3 hours to bring it to us, when they said someone would be right up. It was OK since we didn’t need it ASAP, but found it odd that it took so long for something so simple. Either way, very personable staff.
Would love to go back if I come to this part of FL!
****Have a daily resort fee, of about $ 20 – 30 bucks a day — they factor this in for towel service on the beach, which is kind of pricey for something so simple and that we didn’t even utilize. It would have been more, if valet parking was included (somewhere around the $ 50 – 60 range, I believe).

I came here to visit a friend. I have never been fond of the idea of hometown getaways — but that changed after this past weekend.
There seemed to be a lot of families in this place but i have to say that the room layout is ideal for couples looking for an intimate weekend. I can’t say exactly what it was but something about this beach view suite felt sexy.
The bedroom has a full wall window with a view of the ocean — this is my absolute favorite thing about this place and it should be a requirement for any ocean front resort! The glass didn’t seem to have any sort of tint but who cares, leave the curtains open, live a little. I also really liked the bathroom, maybe because it’s got enough space to play twister in it. There is this «seat» at the end of the tub, i’m assuming for geezers, but youngsters could find a good use for this — lay a towel on it, obviously. It was also the nicest smelling bathroom i’ve ever been in and i couldn’t figure out where the hell it was coming from. Everything in this room was just the right height… they even had 2 peep holes — good selling point for those with kids or the «shawties» so they can avoid that stranger danger. There is also a decked out modern kichenette which was really nice.
The parking situation could be rough. Overnight valet is about $ 30 so aim for a package with complimentary valet service. The only other option is public metered parking which is about ¼ mile north of the hotel and goes for about $ 2 an hour. The pool area is pretty small but there is plenty of water and space for sunbathing on the beach. The hotel overall is really clean and housekeeping is fairly quick.
It isn’t south beach, but really as a miamian — who cares?

I just checked out of the hotel so want to give a quick rundown. I normally stay at the Diplomat Resort and Spa but thought I try this one out since another colleague was staying there. I was there for 2 nights.
The room is nice but a bit small. Clean. Modern.
The bathroom is too big. They could cut that in half and add more square footage to the room.
There are 2 lights over the bed. One worked one did not. By the second night, the other one went out.
TV is a bit small.
Pool is small compared to how massive this hotel is. But hotel is right on beach which is nice.
Fitness center is basic. Not that nice.
Staff is friendly.
Valet park at $ 27/​per night. No self park.
Located in good walking distance of basic restaurants, convenient stores, etc.
I would recommend and stay again if the Diplomat Resort and Spa was not available as the rooms are a little more dated but roomier and better pools (plural) and fitness center.

Such a great hotel ! In our backyard :) we stayed here this past weekend for Father’s Day! Booked a room ocean view, and once we arrived the front desk upgraded us to a beautiful suite ocean view! They were extremely accommodating. Super nice and friendly! Maria Angelica was adorable!, the only thing is that they charge us $ 4 per bottle of water ! Little bit much! But I guess this a tourist place. Also, you must hire more people in your beach ! Great guys! Good servers ! But food takes forever and not done the way we asked. Otherwise! Very good experience coming back again!!!

Worst experience of my life. To add insult to injury, the manager offered to bring me back to make up for my disaster of a vacation, then never followed through despite emails promising that they would make it right:
1. Valet parked then lost my car with luggage still in the trunk. Waited two hours in our stamp-​sized room and couldn’t even open the balcony sliding doors that were jammed.
2. Once in our bathing suits, laughed as we passed the bathtub that doubled as the «resort» pool loaded with about 50 sardines… er, screaming kids. Asked for drinks and sandwiches, and were told they would be delivered to our lounge chairs… waited… waited… Walked back to the bar and was told it closed while we were waiting. Oops.
3. Went inside for dinner. After pizza and margaritas delivered, waiter disappeared never to return. Asked the maitre de for a second round (small pizza) and she came to the table with the receipt to make sure we knew we already ate our dinner…
4. Went up to stamp room for a shower only to find scalding hot water. Call for help. Repairman came after midnight. We took a nap while he worked for an hour… He was unsuccessful. We had to wait until mid-​morning the next day to take showers.
5. At breakfast, server came to our table and said loudly and embarrassingly that our rate does not include breakfast. I said, charge our room! I asked for water, and he brought us one glass, I guess to share.
There are several more points that I could type, but suffice it to say that this is no resort. A resort should have a real pool, excellent service, rooms nicer than Best Western, and a spa or tennis courts or a golf course. The beach does not a resort make. I was told by the manager that there are nicer rooms for those who pay more than the $ 350 a night I paid through
and that she would bring me back free of charge to stay in one. Yeah… thanks. That never happened and I plan to write even more great reviews like this every place I know until the skin on my thumb wears down to the bone. Sure I’m sad, angry and disappointed, but I also think people need to know the truth. Marenas Beach «Resort» HAHAHAHA (sorry) will be bulldozed within 10 years as real resorts are built around it. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Marenas Resort is a hidden gem of Sunny Isles. This is more of a condo-​type hotel. So if you are looking for a family getaway, this is the resort to go to. It has a friendly atmosphere, and the units have a full-​sized kitchen and living room. To top it all, a great ocean

Vine con muchas expectativas por el precio pero sinceramente creo conseguir mejores cosas por estos valores. Estuve en un apartamento de un dormitorio. Es demasiado chico y está equipado muy mal con cosas viejas y rotas. La vista es privilegiada. Lo que tiene muy bueno el Resort es el valet parking y el servicio de playa. La pileta es pequeñísima.

Love this hotel! Great service, clean rooms, great views and located on the beach. This is my 3^rd time staying here in the past 9 months and it gets better each time. Nice breakfast buffet and quality meal for dinner.

The moment you drive up your greeted with Palm trees & aquatic waterfalls. Valet & check in was pleasant & fast. I was kindly upgraded to a suite.
Our room has an amazing view to both the bay & ocean. The suite is spacious with a full kitchen, living room, & bathroom.
The beach attendant was friendly. Towels & chairs are provided.
The bar guy got lost & never came with a menu. We waited at the bar & there was no bartender to be found. Other guests were complaining. Tg eye had been waiting for their burger over 45 minutes.
The outside bar/​food attendants need more employees. Its a shame that such an upscale hotel has slow poor service.

Thia is one of the worst hotels ive ever stayed. The hallways stink and rooms are dirty. They charge $ 30 for parking and $ 25 for resort fee, but the pool is absolutely disgusting with garbage floating and people throwing stuff at each other… No respect to families. Most times there is no beach towel available. If you are with your family or partner, stay away from Marenas.

My best friend, her husband and 3 kids came on a visit to Florida last week and had her jewelry stolen at this hotel! Only to see that the manager in charge at night never even empathized with her for her horrible experience, citing that the hotel will not be responsible if items were not left in the safe and that she was «free to call the police to get a police report», the actual manager never even called her or her husband to apologize for what happened.
The evening supervisor was absolutely rude and unhelpful, the least expected was for him to empathize with his guests and show care if nothing else. The way I witnessed my friends being treated made me feel I would never stay at this hotel myself nor would I ever recommend it to any of my friends or relatives who come to Miami.

NEVER come here!!! This is the most filthy, nasty, unprofessional hotel I have ever been at! False advertising to the max! For our first experience to Florida we are baffled by the lack of customer service this hotel provides!
First off we got to our «luxurious» room it was grossly nasty carpets with food on the floor, painting chipped everywhere, & no sheets on the pullout.
Second we called for towels so we cAn start our day and over a period of an hour in a half, 3 calls later AND me going downstairs is when we got them. They kept saying over the phone yes mam right away. Downstairs the ladies act like they are not concerned with anything! The front desk manager is unavailable so I leave her a message to contact me right away! You would think somebody paying almost a thousand dollars to stay in this shitty place would be Able to speak with manager right away.
There are roaches flying in the hotel and the staff refuses to do ANYTHING about it!!! O I guess the food on the carpet floor is a little snack for their 6 legged friends!
O and lastly the afternoon before we leave the front desk manager VICTORIA finally decides to do her dAmn job and call us back… only to LAUGH and tell us our complaints weren’t that big and that this is the tropics so yes indeed they hAve roaches! She advised me without me even asking for it that she would not compensate or she could not do anything!
Never have I known a person with the title manager not to be able to fix problems or provide solutions! You will be in for a rude awakening if you stay here!!! It’s deceiving and all the way wrong! HORRIBLE HoRRiBLE!

Lets start with the pros:
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The fitness center was one if the best I have had the pleasure of using during travel with cardio, as well as comprehensive nautilus set up, and free weights. The beach was absolutely beautiful with chairs set up under umbrellas.
The cons:
Let me say we booked a good rate through
. They did not tell me that it would actually be $ 100 more with the $ 20 resort fee and $ 27 valet parking, since there is no other parking option! How can they charge that much when it is mandatory! (Between that and parking during the day we paid $ 60 s day to park) Also our bathroom, while beautiful, had most of the fixtures coming out of the walls including the toilet paper holder and a glass shelf in the shower. The staff addressed it with temporary measures but weren’t able to fix it during our stay. The pool was nice but needed some missing tiles replaced.
All in all I probably wouldn’t stay here again based on the full price After the charges I mentioned above.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!
I have already stayed here two times and now planning my next mini vacation here again. This staff is very nice and accommodating, if you have any special request they will do their best to fulfill it. This hotel is mini resort which I like (crowds not my thing). The bar is nice place to get a drink, and the restaurant has good food. My favorite part about this hotel is the view, and when you want to relax you can go lay out on the beach where chairs and towels are provided for staying guest (which an attendant will carry and put out for you). They have a wait staff on the beach that will attend to your needs such as drinks and food orders. When I stayed the first time I had the classic room, small but for me it was ok. The second time I booked the one bedroom suite, I am now spoiled. Full kitchen, washer and dryer, sitting area, and bedroom. Plenty of room for a few people to stay comfortable especially since the sofa will turn into a bed. Only thing is overnight parking is expensive, other than that everything is Great!!!
Small tips:
— You can take the bus down to SOBE just for a few bucks, instead of taking a taxi for about $ 30
— Liquor store is basically across the street from the hotel, so if you like to drink like I do I would advise you stop by there.

Stayed here recently with my fiancé for 4 nights. Got a great buy 3 nights, get one free deal featured on the site that came with some free mojitos, breakfast etc etc. We were actually able to get upgraded to a ocean view suite through a business deal we worked out — which was great as we had heard the rooms were fairly small. It was a 700 sw. ft room — plenty of space, nice balcony looking out at the ocean and the bay.
It was really a mini apartment with a fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher — all of the amenities are modern and sleek. The bed was ok, firm, but ok. The bathroom lighting wasn’t the best — in order to have enough light you had to have the overhead fan on (which sounded like a 747 jet engine). All in all the room was great for what we needed it for.
The hotel is nice, clean, modern. The pool is a bit small and actually didn’t get too much sun as the building itself blocked most of it. BUT, there is beach access right off of the pool which made a lot of this stay worth the money. Pool/​Beachside help were the best part of the service staff — they would get anything and everything you needed — insisting you do not get up. The location is perfect, private, not too many people around, but just enough so you don’t feel to secluded.
The wait staff inside weren’t the best — broken english (expected in Miami), but terrible «bedside manner». There was one bartender, Debra «Debbie» who made amazing drinks and was the nicest person there — even hooked us up from time to time stating that they overcharged on their booze so would give us a free drink for every 2 we purchased.
Numerous times we called down to room service to request extra towels, hair dryer (ours broke), new iron (ours sucked) and rarely were our requests met in a timely manner (if at all).
The pool bar food was OK, quesadilla was good, thats about it. La Caracol, the restaurant inside, which claims to be «fine dining» and upscale — was NOT. The service was terrible — we only ate there on the last night as we had spent so much at places like Prime 112, Bourbon Steak and Michys — so we just went with simple sandwiches — they were horrible, the service was horrible … and we were LITERALLY the only people dining in there on that night.
I’d recommend Marenas as a nice place to hit up the beach (other than South Beach) to enjoy some RR, it’s right near the Aventura Mall — service sucks so if you can live with that you’re fine. The best parts of the staff were certainly the pool/​beach staff, debra the bartender, Luis the bellhop and the Valet guys. Everyone else, even the concierge was not helpful — nor did they even seem to care to help.
Marena’s, you have a nice establishment, you could clean more from time to time and if you hired staff that valued customer service you might start getting some better ratings.

Stayed here while on business in the area. I’m not extremely familiar with the Miami area but my general understanding is expect to pay a lot of money for everything, especially on the beach.
Room was in ok shape — I would say nice but could have been a little cleaner. There was dirt on the floor and the place looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in a while. One of the towels in the bathroom had a bit of something on it but I digress.
In the morning got the breakfast buffet which was somewhere around $ 17-​$ 19 and I honestly didn’t find the buffet that fantastic.
Overall nice place for a decent price (for the night) and would potentially stay there again.
