Description

Specialties

We offer a small preschool and an after school program for school age children (kinder enrollment through 6th grade). We also offer a full day summer camp for school age kids. We provide caring responsible adult involvement (with an average of one adult per 12 kids). Our focus is on nature and outdoor education. Our summer camp program includes weekly field trips that are fun and educational — and the kids have time to be kids! We are licensed by the State of California (198 010 557 and 198 010 558). And our preschool is part of the Los Angeles Universal Preschool program.

History

Established in 2004.

We are a small privately owned child development center. I am the owner and director and have lived in the area since 1995. When my daughter was 5, I looked around for childcare and after school care. I couldn’t find anything that was a good fit for what I wanted for her. When I was a kid, we spent our days in the back yard digging, looking for rocks, watching birds, catching bugs. things like that. We live in an amazing area and I wanted her to be able to learn about it and have time to be a kid. I did not want every second of every minute scheduled for her. So I opened Time to Explore. I bring my knowledge and love of the natural world to our kids. And in turn they share it with others and pass it on!

We are licensed by the State of California (198 010 557 and 198 010 558). While we lease space from Chapel of the Hills Church, we are not part of the church.

Meet the Business Owner

Ramie C.

Business Owner

My early background is in management and «problem solving» in a large corporation. Running my own business is a tremendous challenge with amazing rewards. I have a BA in Sociology and a Site Supervisor Permit issued by the California Credentialing office (with 28 units of child development), I also have 29 units of natural sciences (including units in geology, oceanography, biology and astronomy). I have been a docent/naturalist for Los Angeles County since 1994 (and a board member of the Eaton Nature Center Associates since 1996). I am active in the community as a member of the PTA (Sunland PTA and Verdugo PTSA President), Park Advisory Board (secretary and President), and community stakeholder. As a business, we try to participate in every community event (festivals, school carnivals, expos, community meetings, local parks, etc). It’s important to me to be actively involved with the children and families in our community.
