Swing FIT

I randomly found Ben by searching for PGA Golf instructors in the Valley. I chose Ben based on his teaching philosphy that was posted on the Angeles National website. In any event, I’m so glad I found him. I had my first golf lesson with him a couple of weeks ago. I’ve dabbled in golf before, never really got good at it so decided on getting some lessons. I took an hour lesson from Ben and he was fantastic. What I liked most about him is his style… very laid back, he watches you, observes, he’s patient, and then he assesses what you’re doing and teaches you in a way where it doesn’t feel like he’s trying to force you into doing something. I’ve had lessons before where an instructor tries to correct your swing and then it completely screws you up and you’re worse off then you were before. Ben’s style is really mental… you feel what you’re doing and the way he teaches you is that the swing just sort of naturally corrects and happens. Honestly, I was shocked at how good I was hitting the balls! Golf is one of those games when you’re doing good, you love it and when you’re doing bad, you want to throw the clubs across the course! On this particular day, I was loving golf! And Ben is such a cool guy, I seriously even swung and hit him right in the shin, I felt so bad!!! But he was so gracious about it — I’m sure he probably wanted to scream! I’ve already scheduled my next lesson and will continue!

Being the stereotypical Korean, I decided to pick up golf last year and I tried a couple of different instructors before I found Ben, and here’s how he is different:
1. He incorporates the mental approach of golf into his lessons, rather than just pointing out how to change my swing. What I mean is that he gets you to be in the right mindset before hitting the ball, which has helped me a lot on the times I would get frustrated.
2. He’s all about teaching a natural, fluid swing and not trying force it, rather than trying to kill the ball like I tend to do. This actually helps with not just accuracy but also distance.
3. He teaches useful drills to help your swing, that you can practice both at home or at the range.
4. The way he teaches is very simple and easy to understand. You only think about 1 or 2 things as you try your swing, instead of the list of 10 different things that just overwhelms most beginners.
5. He’s really laid back, which I think helped me take in everything he was saying. Sometimes I don’t know how he keeps his patience with me when I make the same mistakes over and over.
6. I was CONVINCED that I was pushing some of my shots because I need to adjust my clubs. He could have easily charged me a ton of money to make adjustments and get new shafts, but instead he looked at my swing and showed me that it was the carpenter, not the tools. I’m grateful that he taught me the root of the problem, rather than trying to accommodate for a flawed swing.
7. I frequently email him about different problems I run across during a round (how to hit on an uneven lie, etc) and he’s always willing to give really helpful advice. Not many instructors would go out of their way to do that.
8. Grass range! So much better than hitting off mats.
Personal story: Before meeting Ben, I knew I was casting the club but previous instructors had all told me it was because I wasn’t whipping my hands/​wrist fast enough, which really introduced a lot more errors and inconsistency when I tried that. When Ben explained it to me, I didn’t really get it at first until I kept practicing the drill he taught me and then a few days later, it made complete sense. Now I understand how to release the club properly and effortlessly every time and that alone was worth the lesson!
I can’t recommend Ben enough. If you’re having trouble with your swing or need club adjustments, you should definitely check him out!

I had the opportunity to spend some time with Ben on a couple driver and 3 wood shaft installs and he is phenomenal. He took the time to properly measure and evaluate the length, weight and frequency of the shafts going into the 3 wood and driver, measured the overall swingweights for each club, and took ball flight and feel preferences into consideration when deciding which adjustments to make. He was extremely careful and precise with an outstanding attention to detail. Apart from his talents, he’s also a very nice guy. Excellent experience all around and will definitely recommend Ben to others!

Ben is patient, kind, and with full of compassion to an average golfer like myself, with keen eyes for details. He watched my swing, measured it with his new device, and outfitted me with a new driver. I won my tournament last weekend and cannot be happier!!!

I am a beginner and I feel very lucky to have Ben as my instructor. I found him through Unilocal and looked up his profile on PGA’s website. It turns out that Ben is the only PGA instructor in Sunland. Ben is always patient and he explains each step clearly. He has his own teaching method, and a way of assessment. He is very experienced and knows what he is doing. When I was practicing putting one day, he asked me to putt in a direction that looked ridiculous to me. But he is the pro, what can I say? So I followed his instruction and did exactly what he asked me to do, the ball went in!
I recommend 30-​minute lessons, because one-​hour lessons will make me feel tired and hard to concentrate.

Golf clubs are like cars: once in a while you need to get them serviced. While golf clubs don’t have fluids that need to be topped off they do have grips that need changing, lies that need to be checked and lofts crying out for adjustment. Like a good garage, Ben has all the equipment necessary to diagnose your clubs problems and the know how to do what needs to be done quickly and professionally. Better yet Swing Fit is located at a driving range so instead of eating stale donuts and watching a television locked on CNN you get to hit golf balls while you wait.

I highly recommend using Swing Fit. It is very helpful to use their technology to analyze your swing and find a shaft that works for your game. Ben is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The practice facility at Angeles National is beautiful, making this a very enjoyable way to improve your game. I had been putting off buying a new shaft for my driver but I’m so glad I used Swing Fit to find the perfect one for me. Really great service.

I learned of Swing Fit through a referral from my golf coach. He sends all of his students there for club work — for a reason! I was referred to Ben specifically. Ben is a touring pro which is a great perk, but he is also extremely knowledgeable about clubs, the golf swing and mechanics, and the engineering of golf clubs for maximum performance. On top of that, Ben is patient, generous and great at what he does! He built me a custom set, ordered each head separately, and really took the time to build my set perfect for my swing. I have increased accuracy, and gained over 30 yards of distance off of my driver changes alone! What separates Ben is he takes the time to really work on the process and he does things right. He has character, and if you don’t like something he did, he’ll fix with no questions asked to make you happy. I had Ben build some clubs for me. I was referred to Ben by a friend of mine so I thought I’d give it a shot. I had him spine and flo all my shafts and put on new grips. I got to watch them while they were finishing up the last of my clubs. They really do a thorough job. And all their work is guaranteed. They offer a discount if you get 12 or more clubs worked on.
