Waste Management is trying to have me sign a 3 year contract that automatically renews just to add a $ 10 lock to my commercial trash bin account.
If we could only give zero stars! All these negative Unilocal reviews are correct and they don’t seem to care if the reviews are posted.
The customer service here is terrible.
I only wish to secure our trash bin and now am forced to renegotiate a contract that’s not due for over a year!
The only offer to me is to sign a 12 month contract which is shorter than what I currently have, in order to secure my trash bin that is being used by other people for dumping.
Looking for a new company and will cancel our contract for sure now! What a poor way to handle your customers!

The worst lying company ever! They break contracts for no reason! They should be put out of business!

Zeroooooooo rating! Most deceitful, scheming, and unethical company that I ever dealt with in my whole entire life! I thought I was the only one going insane with this company! Every single negative review mentioned here is TRUE. Thank you everyone for posting them! This company should be SHUT DOWN and investigated for fraud.
NEVER trust any quote they give you over the phone! It is always misleading. It is always a lie! Forget customer service! They are horrible!!! They either «don’t know anything» or «cannot do anything.» Waste Management does a stellar job only by robbing your money and wasting your time on the phone.

Can I give 0 stars? I’m not one to write about negative stuff. I prefer to reward the positive and forget the negative. But this one deserves a negative comment.
I was a commercial account of waste management for many years.
I eventually realized I was being way over charged for the service. I paid $ 322 a month. I was offered some crappy reduction if I signed for several more years. I tried to cancel my service. I could not cancel because I needed to give a ³⁄₆ months written notice or the contract automatically renews. So I was stuck another year paying almost double what I need to pay.
9 months later, I send my cancellation notice by certified mail to ensure receipt. I immediately received contact from someone who’s job was to keep me. I was offered service at $ 160 a month. I was paying $ 322!
I found Athen services who was slightly higher by $ 20 but I did not care. I was so fed up, I was willing to pay more to be rid of these people. In my process of finding a new company, I learned that Waste Management has a monopoly in the area. So perhaps that is who they offer terrible customer service.
My service was canceled 8÷31÷14. On 9÷8÷14 they withdrew my $ 322 and said this is common practice. They said I would receive a refund. On 10÷28÷14 I called to see where my refund was. I was told it would take 6 – 10 weeks for the check to arrive. 10 weeks for a check to arrive!!! I asked them why they did not automatically credit my account since they auto debited my account. I was told my bank information was erased once I closed my account. I said that was not true since you debited my account after I canceled service. I said I want my account debited. He said he can’t because a check was mailed. I said you can cancel the check and credit the account that you debited. It was on and on…
So after telling me all the things that could not happen, he said it can be credited. My bank account info must have shown up by a miracle!
We’ll see if it shows on my account this week. Long story short, do not get into a contract with these people. They will make it so difficult to get out of, charge more then what is standard, take $ after your contract is up and cause needless aggravation and headache. Find another trash hauler!

Waste Management still provides dumpster bins for our two 8-​unit apartment buildings in North Hollywood despite my hatred for this company because I CAN’T contractually get out of it. You need to CAREFULLY read the contract and follow directions in order to attempt to get out of doing business with them. I have been unsuccessful in my attempts. They will rape and screw you in the meantime.
After my mother died in 2007, I took over as manager of our small family apartment business. Waste Management contacted me and pestered me to sign a new contract in exchange for a 1-​year price guarantee. I foolishly signed the new contract, which was actually an unbreakable 2-​year contract. This effing scum company hiked up the monthly bills by almost TRIPLE the initial rate after the 1-​year lock! They have a sneaky automatic 2-​year renewal in the fine print, too. If you fail to send them written cancellation notice no more than six months prior to the end of the contract, but no less than three months prior to the end of the contract, the contract will automatically renew and you will be screwed for another two years. The contract also says that even when the contract is over, that you HAVE to submit competing bids from other companies and give them the chance to match those bids before you will be allowed to not renew with them.
The representative in our area, Mark V., was amazingly snarky and arrogant when I spoke to him on the phone. Our contract is coming to an end shortly and I have written twice, called three times, emailed him, and repeatedly asked this dude to submit his best, most competitive written estimate for ongoing service. He has failed to do this. He’s playing a little game to force me to bother some other company, like Crown, to come out and quote me on service and THEN he’ll say, «Okay, we’ll match that price so you have to sign a new contract with us.» Oh, he is also claiming that he will only give me a 1-​year contract going forward. This will force me to have to remember to submit a written cancellation letter annually in the oh-​so-​important three-​month window and go through the process of seeking bids from other companies again. I’ll have to do this every year? What a pain in my butt (and a waste of time for the other companies who I’m going to have to ask to come out and quote me for service). Waste Management is playing a game of chicken with their current customers hoping that a certain percentage of them will forget to mail cancellation letters to them during the cancellation window. This simple mistake causes customers’ current accounts to go into automatic renewal status and allows Waste Management to crank up the billing to whatever they want. What a scam.
By the way, I also strongly recommend that apartment and business owners not sign up for autopay billing with Waste Management. I suspect that many large companies don’t have good oversight on something like their dumpster contract and they have no idea that their contract is in automatic renewal status and that they are being charged way, way too much for ongoing trash pick-​up service.
I can’t tell you how much I hate Waste Management. I do think that some consumer protection agency or the government should step to regulate this unethical company. I strongly recommend that you avoid this company if you need trash dumpster service for your apartment building or business.

guys, i wish my complain was about costumer service, its not.
much worse, simply its SCAM SCAM SCAM please be aware, read the whole contract
they will do anything to nail you, just read the other reviews, waste management its company that should be close down by the state, its not even a joke.

What a headache working with this company! Never again!
