Description

Specialties

We teach sewing lessons to adults and children. Individuals can learn in a small setting how to use their sewing machines. We also teach serger classes and specialty sewing classes. In addition to our sewing classes, we carry fabrics; knits, quilting cottons, and other fabrics. We have sewing notions and patterns. We sell the Silhouette Cameo, a fabric, paper, and vinyl cutting machine and offer the supplies and classes for this wonderful machine!

History

Established in 2003.

In 1990 I had my fashion design degree in hand and set out to promote the art of home sewing. Along the way I’ve also been an elementary school teacher. In 1999 when I had my first daughter I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom and so retired from school teaching. I was teaching sewing nights and weekends at a local fabric store-and my business grew. I was teaching out of my home (now with 2 children) and my life was a little crazy, hence the name «Sewin’Asylum». When my oldest started kindergarten, I moved the business out of the house and into an office/studio. 5 years later I opened a retail store and the retail shop has been thriving for almost 4 years. While my main focus is instruction, I do offer fabric, patterns, and notions.
