I have worn glasses since grammar school so I know a lot about these optical shops. I have been to some good places and a few very good places but I have settled on HC Deuchler because they are a GREAT place. Here is why.
I have a very strong prescription and even a slight differential between what the doctor ordered and what gets put in the frame has a large effect on my vision. My old MD used to write scripts that went down to small fractions of a diopter and the good folks at HC Deuchler easily filled it perfectly.
The owner, Jim, is connected to lens manufacturers so much so that when they have a cutting edge product, they bring it to him to test it, knowing that his careful and precise installation and adjustment procedures guarantee the right feedback for future development or sale to the general public. I benefitted from this relationship when I tested a new Hoya lens with «digital» lens curvature — giving me the best vision I had ever had. A few years later, when I had a new script, Jim was working with Zeiss and their digital progressive lenses. I ordered them and the improvement was, surprisingly, even better. With my eye sight, that’s really important (probably true for most of you too!).

We stopped in to look at children’s frames. They have a large selection and found the salesperson to be extremely helpful and friendly. Although we didn’t find exactly what we were looking for, we will definitely return the next time we are shopping for frames.
