ATP Gun Shop & Range

OK, I firmly believe in giving a business a second or even third chance.
But this place is done, I will never come near your store ever again!
After being cut in line by 2, then 3 separate groups of customers and skipped over by the 2 (I repeat 2) cashiers working the range cashier while literally making eye contact with them the entire time… I was then told that they would have to inspect my .223 ammo which was already loaded in magazines «because they weren’t sure if it would pierce through the back stop»… Then told I wasn’t able to use my own ammunition «but we have some on sale that you can buy if you still want to shoot».
I promise that I will tell this story every time I’m even near a conversation where the word «gun» is uttered.
I will never be back!

Good selection of handguns. Staff is helpful. Handgun range is AOK. Handgun purchase gets some range passes. I may get annual membership. If you shoot more than 25x per year you save. Good deal even without the extra perks. ATP stands by what they sell. Exchanged malfunctioning holster with no hassle. I would give 5 stars if range distance was displayed like at PSA.

This is a decent place for target shooting. I’ve been here twice now and each time I’ve had an ok experience. I will concur with some of the other reviews on their personal view of the personalities working here. A little politeness and customer service goes a long way. I mainly come here to utilize the shooting range. On my last trip, I spent a few minutes walking around the store and checking out many of their shot guns and other equipment for sale in the store. I found that their prices are much higher than other stores such as Palmetto Armory. I’ll continue to come back and use the shooting range as it seems pretty decent.

Everyone here is pretty much a dick. Well, not everyone but maybe 8 out of 10 people. Now, unless you like to be belittled and talked down to, this is the place for you.

The guy who answered the phone was totally unhelpful and rude.

ATP is a combination one stop shop for firearms. They have the best indoors shooting range in the low country. This store has training class for canceled carry as well as for woman, and specific firearms careers. ATP holds community events circled around firearms and citizens 2^nd amendment rights. They carry a nice range of ammunition, holsters, and assesories. Unfortunately ATP falls short on listed firearms prices. A day ago I stopped by ATP to look at a small Mini revolver. I was shocked to see a price on the item for $ 354.00. I have found the exact same item purchased online For A low of $ 227.00 to a high of $ 254.00 shipped and delivered to a certified dealer in Goose Creek, SC. I have purchased 3 firearms from ATP in the past 6 years. At one time they were competitive, but in the last few years they have become $ 50.00 to $ 150.00 over what you can purchase many firearms for, including shipping and license dealer fees. I give ATP 3 stars for being a well rounded one stop firearms, and shooting sport location, while at the same time becoming a very overpriced firearms dealer.

My sister and I went in for ladies night and were disappointed. We both want to shoot for self defense and based on the ads we heard we expected to actually be taught. You watch a 5 minute video, watch someone load a gun and then they set you loose in the range to load and get started. There are two women walking about but not actually instructing. I didn’t do too bad for handling on my own, but would have felt much more comfortable with one on one instruction and loading and unloading a dummy gun or ammo before almost crapping myself in the range. The first shot was clearly someone who had shot before and I didn’t even have the first bullet loaded. It’s a great concept but actual instruction would have been helpful! I plan on going to a private range with an instructor so I get it right on target.

Recently purchased some firearms from them. I was completely dissatisfied with the customer service. Not very friendly nor were they very helpful. Considering they are one of the only gun shops around, they can probably get away with this, however if there was a better alternative remotely close I would suggest it. Two stars because they have a decent selection.

ATP has been the gun store that my husband and I most frequent. Their customer service has been awesome almost every time we have been there. The BEST selling value of the store is a young man named Zach. He has always taken his time speaking with us about guns. He has even gone as far as letting us shoot his guns so we could get a better understanding of the gun we may want to buy. He is very upbeat and knowledgable. There are other guys who have been very helpful as well, but Zach has consistently been the guy that we like speaking with. My husband and I have bought three guns there over the past year and we plan to buy a few more down the road and we will definitely be buying them from ATP. They are a little pricey, but they have a life time warranty on their guns and between that and the customer service it is worth it. They have been very helpful to my husband and myself and we recommend that if you are in the process of buying a gun, go to ATP.

Very complete shop. Tons of selection for guns and accessories.
They probably have around 100 pistols for sale, which is a great selection.
The gun range is a little cramped. You can swap the rental guns free, but the bill will add up with ammo and other rentals.
The $ 1 hearing protection and $ 1 glasses rental is clearly nickel and diming customers, as is this target holder that if shot, then you have to buy this holder for $ 9!!! What a rip-​off.

My only complaint is that the range uses an old fashioned cable and pulley target suspension system. This results in the target carrier wobbling about so if you are practicing slow precision shooting, you have to wait for it to settle down thus wasting range time. Aside from that I had a good experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. I ended up purchasing a new pistol via their lay-​away plan and will of course be back. By the way’ their prices are very reasonable.

My wife and I bought two revolvers from this store. We were helped by Ed, and he was very helpful and knowledgeable about firearms. He helped us purchase what we needed, after we explained how the guns would be used. I will shop there again, and I would recommend it to others.
We took our 4 month old with us, and the staff (not just Ed) were very playful with my son. It was safe for children, and it was not the first time I had been in the store, so I knew what to expect. I wouldn’t have taken him had I not known what to expect as far as the environment for children.

ATP is an great location to look at and potentially purchase hand guns, long arms, holsters ammo and a variety of other related items. There was a very unique approach from the sales team to the customers, in that there were the incredibly helpful staffers and the very impatient staffer. Fortunately, I was on the more favorable portion of that divide and the woman who helped my friend and I was just top notch. Very informed, had great ideas and was far from being a pushy salesperson. But I was witnessing another scenario developing at the counter. Two older women who were clearly looking for answers on some basic questions, were being completely ignored. After some time, a young salesman approached, addressed them but I felt was short in responses, disinterested in assisting and clearly was not wanting to be dealing with these ladies. Rather than pass them off to possibly the wonderful lady that was helping us, he just remained aloof at best.
When I went to get a lane on the range, the chaos was apparent. From who was next to take a lane, lane assignments, confusing credit/​debit cards among customers and selling ammo boxes that were not full, it was a mess. I can not fault the young man working that area, yes he could have checked the bullet count, but overwhelmed is a kind way of verbalizing what he and other staffers were dealing with in this area of the store. There was just not enough man power to handle the level of rentals of guns-​ear and eye protection, answering phones and all the above mentioned.
When I got my lane, a guy in the next stall to my left was shooting a .45 or a magnum, i wasn’t looking closely but it was a hand cannon. The popping of the discharge was like a nail being driven into my forehead and I have very good ear protection and really bad hearing, the range is not well insulated from sound reverberation. To make matters worse, he was with 3 young adults that were jumping around, yelling, Youtubing, the situation was becoming very uncomfortable, I was less focusing on my target and sending lead down range at it and more conscience of a possible stray bullet from a very inexperienced gun user, heading our way. The range master was allowing this to occur, in part because he had his own issues with the 2 ladies I mentioned before, now on the range and clueless. I feel he should have warned these people, or just flat out asked them to leave. Shell casings were everywhere and I kept the remainder of my ammo and made a hasty charge for the exit door.

YiKeS! After reading the first review of this place I was tempted to downgrade a star– but to be fair, my interaction with the staff was pretty basic and minimal.
We went to spew lead on their back wall and help break in my newest CCW, not engage in any classes. (unauthorized, captive audience preachin’ would have ticked me off too — on either spectrum of the political thought)
The range was well ventilated and air conditioned. (I’ve experienced some stifling hot pots before when they get crowded) and the lanes handled quite a crowd for a Monday am. (How the hell can so many go plunkin’ on a Monday am? — My desk job commitment really sucks folks).
The cashier had a bit of a self-​obsessed tude, but hey, he gets to walk a store all day wit-​a BA gun hanging on his hip. Guess that perk has worked its way to his head somewhat.
I’d go again, but target a different clerk. (no pun intended)

Wow the class here took me to some Pat Buchanan/​Rush Limbaugh hate filled place. The instructor spewed racist, homophobic, and sexist hate for almost NINE whole hours through the class. Dude, all I wanted was to get a weapons permit to keep my family safe. No one should be subjected to such hate filled views. You are an idiot and ATP lost a customer for life. If after reading this you still continue to support this business, shame on you.
