Waxing Poetic jewelry, charms, objects, candles, housewares, and general amusements come to you from Carpinteria, California, by way of designer Patti Pagliei Simpson, her intimate coterie of friends and family (sisters in particular): like-​minded artists, dreamers, adventurers, and raconteurs. We make things we love, and hope you like them too.

Our jewelry is fabricated by an incredible batch of Balinese craftspersons, truly part of our extended ‘family’. These incredible people devote themselves and their lives to beauty, both in action and intent. Somehow we were blessed to have them join forces with us.

The concept for the store is simple, and true to the brand: Make every purchase a one of a kind treasure with a range of customization and gift services. Customers can turn our silver jewelry and personal objects into the heirlooms of tomorrow, by combining pieces from our full range of iconic and exclusive boutique designs, which come wrapped in our signature packaging.

History

Established in 2012.

Waxing Poetic came into being, as one might expect, by assembly, experiment, love, tradition, and chance. And sisters. Specifically, Patti and Lizanne. But first, some backstory… Patti was the arty one in Joe and Rita Pagliei’s brood of four wonderful children: a beauty, a beloved son, a slightly risky and sometimes impulsive artist (guess who?), and a brilliant, holds-​it-​altogether voice of reason (Lizanne).

In 2002, in tandem with a variety of other projects, they decided to take a risk, collect some friends, pray, and make a go of it. Waxing Poetic is the ever-​evolving result of that process.

Now, a popular destination for tourists headed up the coast and locals looking for something special, Summerland is comprised of antique shops, wine tasting rooms, beachy burger shacks, café’s and boutiques. Waxing Poetic found its niche in the building that was historically the original Summerland Post Office.

Business Owner

Patti Pagliei Simpson is Waxing Poetic’s founder, CEO, and Creative Director. To some of us, she is also our daughter, sister, wife, mother, heroine, boss, mentor, and beloved friend.

A Bachelors in Fine Art led her to develop a distinctive design sense, one that has informed the inventive artistry and craftsmanship in the Waxing Poetic collections.

Patti fully believes in the heart-​as-​map school of life navigation. Patti likes things that matter more than things that just amuse — but she isn’t averse to the two ideas in the same place. Patti likes heirlooms and old photographs, music and memory-​making, letters and listening, art, sacred objects and adventure, and good wine and delicious food and sharing all of it, all the time, in any way she can. She also likes (and wishes for more plan-​less) long wonderful days with her entrepreneurial husband John, adorable pointer Georgia, and the newest reason to create lasting designs… her daughter Lulu.
