Sullivans Island Summer Fish Fry

Held on the same grounds as the Winter Oyster Roast, this summer fund-​raiser is a great deal. Unlike the more popular Oyster Roast, where the oysters are AYCE, this is a styro container filled full of lightly breaded, fried fish, cole slaw and hush puppies. Have a look
. Also unlike the Oyster Roast, this event doesn’t cost the equivalent of a nice night out. For $ 5, you get loads of food. The beers are cold and only a couple of bucks a piece. The fish was very good, the cole slaw was decent and the puppies were a little burnt (you can overlook the extra time in the fryer at this price.) Definitely a different vibe than the Oyster Roast.
T-​shirts and hats for the event are available. And as a bonus, I was able to pick up a surplus 2010 Oyster Roast sweatshirt at a fire sale price (pun intended).
They did get a nice turnout, but people weren’t having a problem finding seating.
The band that was playing was really pretty bad.
Toss in that this is for a worthy cause, and you can’t go wrong.
