The chocolate lava cake is absolutely to die for! The chocolate brownie pie is also good, but a little sweet for my liking. The twice baked apple was a no-go for me, way too sweet and just not enough texture. The environment was nice though and service was fairly quick. Definitely will be back to try some new desserts!

Horrible Service. My bartender who is apparently the owner was slow, didn’t notice us for 15 minutes and made a face when we said we are leaving. Overpriced and dead environment.

I came randomly for dessert and drinks while on vacation in Houston but ended up just having drinks. I usually prefer to sit at the bar if I don’t plan to eat a meal. The 2 male bartenders who were working at the time provided great drinks and great service. I was with my boyfriend and another couple and we all agreed that these bartenders were definitely an asset to this establishment. The drinks were also great… in case I didn’t mention that earlier.

When I went to the middle spoon recently, I ordered both the chocolate lava cake and the twice baked apple. Saying that the chocolate lava cake is amazing is an understatement. The cake was moist and baked to perfection and the chocolate oozed out of the middle. I would definitely go back for this dessert. On the other hand, twice baked apple disappointed me. The textures, in my opinion, did not go well together and it just tasted average. The service was also unprofessional and dissatisfying. I’m giving the middle spoon 3 stars because I was impressed with the chocolate lava cake, but completely disappointed with the twice baked apple and the service.

2.5 stars. Was excited to try this place. Deserts and drinks? Yes, please! Went there with some girlfriends last night. Décor is nice and modern. Music being played in background(aka not loud) was a nice mix. We were there Sunday night and place was NOT busy. Two other groups there besides us. Now, my drinks were good but nothing special. Considering the price($ 10 – 13) they were very small. One of the drinks I got($ 10) was maybe the size of a shot and a half. I was good and my fave out of the ones I tried but it was TINY. My friend had mixed snack plate and«seasoned» popcorn was spicy. I’m sorry, but seasoned and spicy are two different things. Tomato soup was spicy as well. Good(according to my friend) but spicy. I had chocolate torte and it was good and exactly what I wanted, dense and very chocolaty(and probably 3000 calories lol). Overall a cute place but overpriced for what it is.

Friendly staff and relaxing environment. I ordered the chocolate torte and the carrot cake(~$ 10 each). The torte was heavy and dense, opposite of my expectation. It resembles more of fudge to me based upon the clumped layers. Handmade raspberry sauce added a nice touch to the torte. The carrot cake was pretty tasty! Not as sweet as the torte though. Would go back again and try a cocktail.

Terrible, awful service. Took 55 min to get water to the table and the place was not busy. Drinks were watery and tasteless. Carrot cake was good, but very pricey for the portion size. Will not be back

I came here after dinner with friends for some desserts. I was really expecting something really good since prices for the desserts were pricey, but this visit did not meet my expectations. I ended up getting a cocktail — Aphrodite’s Weakness and the chocolate lava cake. The drink was really sweet, and I generally like sweet drinks, but this was too sugary sweet, and I didn’t like the aroma with it. Not sure why, but the waitress says this was one of the most popular drinks here. The chocolate lava cake was soft, and I like the chocolate center oozing out of it, but that’s probably the only interesting thing about it. It tasted good, but after a few bites, I kind of got tired of it. Overall, I think both choices were ok, but it’s not something that wowed me that I would come back again soon for. Higher prices for average food isn’t always a favorite with me. The waitresses are extremely friendly and talkative though. The place had a nice contemporary design, and I was surprised to see that it has a lot of customers in the evening. I guess i didn’t expect them to have so much customers.

Sugar Land, Texas is quickly becoming a destination for Houstonians looking for new and interesting restaurants and bars. Newest edition and hitting the scene with urban splender is Middlespoon Desserterie and Bar in the Sugar Land Town center, right next to the Flying Saucer. A light menu of sandwiches, salads and soups is what I came in for, but was treated to so much more!!! Hand crafted drinks made with fresh ingredients, quality liquor and plenty of time invested in making each drink. Atmosphere is clean, fun and laid back with lots of class. The Beef stew was delicious, potatoes and carrots were cooked perfect! Chocolate Lava Cake was amazing. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Can’t wait to come back.

This place is definitely a charm. We ordered the chocolate lava cake and it was absolutely delicious! The cake was very moist and the chocolate sauce was amazing!!! The atmosphere had a very nice vibe with plenty of seating and the staff is super friendly! We also found out that they serve food along with a variety of desserts and alcohol(even dessert drinks) We will definitely be going back there again.

I have to say, the prices for their desserts were extremely unappealing at first glance, the same could also be said for their cocktails. Makes you think, why would I need to come to such an elegantly decorated place for dessert and drinks when I can just buy some ice cream and wine at Krogers? My first time here was on a late Saturday night, around midnight actually. I was surprised by the fact that a dessert place would stay open this late. But they double as a full bar, and serve regular food as well, so I guess it made sense. Too bad it hasn’t gained much popularity because the place was completely empty when me and my friends arrived. Drinks, dessert samplers, and some regular foods were ordered as we celebrated a birthday. Nothing was very out of the ordinary besides the fact that they told us everything they serve on the menu was made from scratch(even their whipped cream). And then we were served with the Molten Lava Chocolate Cake… The cake literally erupted in my mouth. It was BYFAR the fluffiest, lightest cake I’ve ever had. Not only was it fresh-out-of-the-oven warm, but the chocolate in the center oozed out with an incredible gooeyness that melts your tongue right on the spot. The warm taste of the cake mixed in with the liquid chocolate, which was the perfect amount of sweetness, clashed gently with the ice cold vanilla ice cream served along with it, sending shivers through my body… wait, what was I going to Krogers for again???

On a Tuesday at noon, there was no wait & we were able to choose from a number of tables to sit at. Unfortunately, the $ 10 lunch special was not written down anywhere, so the waitress had to recite it to us & we had to try and memorize what she said. The 3 course $ 10 lunch special consisted of(1) soup or salad +(2) entrée +(3) dessert. Today’s entrée options were a pulled pork sandwich or 2 different quiches. The dessert options were brownie w/ice cream, baked apple, or lemon pavlova. The pulled pork sandwich(lunch special portion) was loaded with meat, which was nice! The bun: meat ratio was a little too heavy on the bun, but the flavor was good. It was literally just pulled pork + a bun. No other ingredients. I got the kale salad — it was OK. I probably would try something else next time. We shared the brownie w/ice cream — it was tasty. The brownie could have been just a touch more moist, but otherwise it was delicious. My friend had the tomato soup, and she really liked it. Service was attentive & good.

Stuffed from dinner at home, my family wanted deserts so we made the drive to Sugar Land to try this place out. We ordered: choc lava cake(2⁄5), was prob the only thing I somewhat enjoyed but barely. baked apple with 1 very tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream(1⁄5) I did not like this ATALL. The apples tasted extra sour. It was not worth my calorie intake at all and my $ 9! carrot cake with a very tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream(1⁄5) — cake itself was way too sweet and the slice was more like a sliver not slice. For $ 10, I was expecting a bigger piece than that. Service was extra slow. Tea took a good 20 minutes to come out. Waitress was extra nice though. Interior was very nice, loved the décor. Felt very intimate. Price was too high for the servings here. Over all we didn’t like anything we ordered. And won’t be coming back.

I thought this was just a dessert bar. I was wrong. It’s a full on café with drinks, food and dessert. Since we thought it was only dessert, we came after lunch. The waitress recommended the chocolate lava cake, which came with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream and some fruits on top. The portion was generous, but it was also $ 10 for the dessert. I thought it was a little thick and too sweet… We will come back to try other stuff and I will update my review then.

Decided to check this place out on a saturday night around midnight. It was pretty empty. We ordered the french mojito(3⁄5). We had the savory plate, which was basically a variety of cheese/bread/meat/nuts(3⁄5). We also tried their roasted garlic and cauliflower soup(1⁄5), and the lava cake(2⁄5), nothing very special about, it was ok. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the food however took awhile even though the place was pretty much empty. Assuming this place is pretty new, i’m sure there’s just some kinks they need to work out.

I came here on Saturday night around midnight with other two friends. It was only us and two other table and surprisingly the drink(only one of us order a cocktail) and food took forever to come out. I hate to give two stars but the food was mediocre. However, the staffs were friendly. Savory plate(3⁄5) Roasted garlic and cauliflower soup(1⁄5) — It tasted like baby food. Chocolate lava cake(2⁄5)

Came by after seeing it on our way to blu lounge there were about 2 other tables when we got there at 1 am. The ambience of this place is really nice and cute for dating. Food wise not so much… The wait for our items took so long I have no idea if it was because it was later in the night. garlic cauliflower 1⁄5 it tasted like baby food purée and had a bad after taste. Brownie dessert 2⁄5 nothing special just chocolate with ice cream Chef special 2⁄5 so original seriously I could of done better at home it was just a simple cheese plate. Not anything fancy Overall I was very disappointed in the food the drinks were good and the ambience was great waitress was nice.

Walked into this place for some dessert after eating lunch at ruggles. The owner was there at the front ready to greet us and welcome us to the restaurant. Walking to my table I noticed the grand arrangement of the restaurant, bar, and booth. I really liked the appearance of the place. This was our first time coming to this place so we asked the waiter for her favorite item. She recommended the chocolate lava cake which came with ice cream. It was simply delicious and amazinggggg!!! If your looking for a full meal I wouldn’t recommend this place cause it was kind if pricey. But the prices for dessert were still kind of expensive but definitely worth it to me.

The Middle Spoon Desserterie and Bar is the most recent addition to Town Square and it fills that void for a good bakery. Plus they’re open late(for suburbia) so that’s sweetens the deal. Pun intended :) I did some digging and as it turns out, The Middle Spoon is a Canadian franchise and this is their first foray into America. How perfect that they landed in Sugar Land amiright? As we were walking in, a gentlemen was standing outside serving samples of their chocolate torte. A rich cake with raspberry sauce and whipped cream. Delish! Not sure what his role is; however, based on his knowledge of the establishment and his demeanor I would say he is either the owner or the manager. Either way, super sweet man. Once seated, we took in the ambiance. Casual with a midtown or uptown flare. Very classy, very cozy. There are tables in the center area, booths on the right, and couches on either side of the bar where you can choose to sit on the stools there. Our waiter Mario was hilarious. Loved his sass! He was not pushy despite us taking forever to order. I will say that this place is still hasn’t fully figured out their flow; however, I am hoping that will fix itself as they settle into a groove and become fully established considering nothing was egregious. I went with two friends and we each ordered our own dessert. I will say that the portions are large enough to share. Each of us felt overly full once we basically licked our plates clean. Everything is made in house from their desserts to syrups at the bar. The Chocolate Brownie Pie was our least favorite; however, that is not saying much since it was still delicious. They replaced the traditional pie crust with brownie and then include a chocolate pudding as the filling. My friend was not feeling the fruit on the side so had it replaced with one of their ice-creams. Genius call. This dessert gets a 4/5, only because the pudding had a strange texture. Their Chocolate Lava Cake is their best seller and for good reason. The mini-dark chocolate cake is filled with a rich chocolate syrup and comes with ice-cream on the side. I love when hot and cold play on my tongue together, especially when it come to dessert. 5⁄5! I ordered the Cardamom Carrot Cake. Normally, I do not like carrot cake– it’s usually dry or cloyingly sweet. They do things right! Just enough sweetness, warming ginger adds depth, and the velvety cream cheese frosting has notes of cardamom and citrus. On the side, it came with a lemon sorbet. You know sorbet is going to be good when you can see the lemon zest. Another 5⁄5! We hope to return soon for more dessert and some of the food from the menu.

I love the idea of The Middle Spoon. It’s combining the idea of a dessert and cocktail bar in one. 2 of my favorite things in one place? Yes, please. The craft cocktails are delicious! I had the Wise Guy and my boyfriend had the New York sour. I love that all their juices are made and squeezed in house. Their desserts are things like chocolate lava cake and New York cheesecake. I didn’t try one this time around, but other customers did and they looked tasty. The décor of Middle Spoon was gorgeous! It felt posh and modern. This leads me to why I docked the bar one star. It looks like a hip, upscale midtown bar that’s going through an identity crisis because of the little kids running around. I understand the bar is catering to the Sugar Land population, which is family-oriented. I’m interested to see how they’ll grow and I’ll be back for sure.
