Now Veritas Steak & Seafood… renovated bar, will go back during HH, and the atmosphere was very nice during lunch. They still have my Crab & Avocado Salad and it is still very good! Thank you Rios Family

THIS PLACE IS CLOSED! Overnight, they are revamping it as Veritas. Quickie remodel is going on, but I hear they are opening in days. Heard via another restaurant mgr. friend that the owners had a falling out with those running this local, so they pulled the plug on their deal and decided for another incarnation to try and lure burned Sugar Land diners back. Let’s hope it gets better!

This review is on Post Oak Grill’s Happy Hour.
I came here after work with a large group of coworkers. We actually arrived before they opened but they were nice enough to let us sit in the bar area and relax on the couches. The waiter/​bartender put a large table together for us which was nice and we all got to sit together easily.
The HH was nice, they offer $ 4 glasses of house wine, and discounted bottles as well. They also offer some cocktail specials and beer. There are also select appetizers on the happy hour menu that are half off.
I had the popcorn chicken and ate half of it before I realized they didn’t give me any chipotle sauce! Once I was able to get some they had more flavor, but otherwise they weren’t much to write home about. I was also able to try the duck egg rolls and some of the calamari. We ordered a side dish that was not from the HH menu — the truffle mac and cheese which was excellent and I definitely recommend it!
I wasn’t blown out of the water by this place, it was a nice place for hh, but like I said, not much to write home about.

Hate to do this, but the filet was way over cooked. If a filet costs $ 36 it better be cooked the way I want it.
Service was good enough. No complaints there. Lobster bisque was AWESOME. The rest, I could have done better at Outback Steakhouse for half the price.

Vibe of a giant dark cigar humidor.
Neither the food or service was impressive. The price however was grand for the presentation and quality.
Crabcakes — salty, mushy canned food texture.
Tuna Salad sandwich — Worse than anything on the Jason’s deli menu. At twice the cost.

They «Had» a great happy hour specials until they change the menu! Not sure why they change the happy hour menu! Please bring back the Raspberry Martini’s and BBQ Quesadillas!!! Change is not always good!

The worst service that I have ever received at a restaurant! We were hosting our company Christmas dinner for a party of 12 there, so I went in 4 days early to make sure all was in order. I met personally with the manager, who assured me he would make sure that we were taken care of, and even promised to set aside some wine that I wanted. Come the event, no manager and the wine requested was sold out. This was only the beginning of the great service fiasco. We only has 1 waiter for the first hour (for a party of 12!). We ended up pouring our own wine, and had to wait for all the other drinks. The main course was delivered ½ hour after we had finished the salads! My meal came 5 minutes after all the other meals.
Just horribly incompetent service for the entire night, ruing the «Christmas cheer» at the dinner table.
This place can make good food… but who wants to wait forever to see it arrive at the table?! I’m not going to waste my time and money here again!

Came here for a business lunch recently and I was just not impressed. Upon entrance, the furnishings, the view of the lake and the professional presentation of the staff gives the impression that things can only get better but that was not the case for us. The service was extremely slow for our group of 10. After promptly placing our order, it took a very long time for our entrees to come out. The food was just OK. I really did not enjoy my crab cake sand which, there was just too much breading on top of the fact that it was on a bun. I mean if you make a crab cake sand which, the crab cake should be full of crab and not filler. I could tell my colleagues were not impressed, no one raved about their food and since our Manager picked the place, no one wanted to openly express their disappointment, but it was obvious.

Now this review compares Post oak to it’s competitors Felmmings, capital Grille, Perry’s and so on…
Ambiance 5 — the ambiance compared to the others is really nice and more private with a great view of the lake (best thing here)
Food 2 — the menu has a nice variety of choices but is priced a Little higher then its competitors. I had the Cajun ribeye which was quite salty. On that note All the people I was with also said their food was salty. I was told the steak would be blackened but it was not very crusted. my wife had the truffle Mac & cheese as a side and she didn’t like that all. My mashed potatoes were nothing to rave about.
Service 3 — service was average, my water stayed full, but it seems for a table with 12 people they didn’t give out enough bread. Also I was a little upset when the waiter told me he was too busy to split our checks, so in a formal restaurant with a few hundred dollar bill I was sitting with a pen calculating the split.
Overall with the other choices in houston, id rather go somewhere else

Great place in Sugarland. Want to have dinner by the water? No prob! very nice ambiance. Excellent wine selection. The entrees are quite large and they include grilled veggies, unlike most steak houses. Most places you have to purchase the veggies on the side.
I just wish they had bananas foster!

My first restaurant for Houston Restaurant Week!
Went with 5 people and had an early dinner reservation. From the moment we were seated and presented with the restaurant week menu, I felt like our waiter had on an ‘it doesn’t matter’ attitude. That day we didn’t want to drink wine, who makes it a rule to have wine at expensive restaurants anyway? The waiter didn’t even bother to remove the wine menu from the table. When ordering soup, if the menu says ‘soup de jour’ don’t you think its requirement to tell the patrons what type of soup it is? I had to ask him what soup was the soup of the day. The whole attitude was just bad.
The food was okay. The soup was chicken tortilla, nothing special. My main course was salmon with risotto. The salmon was pretty good, I liked it but the risotto was undercooked. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed the main entrée. My brother got the filet, it was just okay… I’ve had plenty of steaks in my time and this was nothing special. It’s not okay for patrons to rejoice that their meal was good at an upscale restaurant, its a requirement! Tres leches for dessert, the cake wasn’t bad, the portion was big, I would order this again.
Why I docked so many stars? Because, if I were to go to a nice upscale restaurant, I expect a certain standard, regardless if it was restaurant week or not. I think restaurant week helps promote and advertise restaurants as well as becomes a good cause for charity. If waiters here think that they are going to get shafted by restaurant week and put up a ‘who cares’ attitude then you bet you are going to get a crappy tip. Its a vicious cycle.
I would not recommend this restaurant for restaurant week.

The atmosphere was nice. There was live music (piano) but the area we were in also had music playing over the speaker… and I wished they had turned the speaker off.
The breads, especially biscuits (with green scallion and ham/​bacon), were good. For first course I had the caesar salad and it was good too. Next was surf & turf…4 oz filet mignon and two grilled shrimp with some sliced potatoes, carrots, and asparagus. I liked the seasonings in the filet but not the texture. The shrimp were disappointing. For dessert, tiramisu was just ok, tres leches was a little bit better.

It’s probably my fault for not looking on Unilocal to see if I should even eat at this restaurant, but GEEZE. what is going on?!!
The only reason why I was compel to come here in the first place was because of the DARN billboard sign (POST OAK GRILL) at the 610 Westheimer exit. I see that billboard at least 4 – 5 times a week. Yes, I know I should check out the original Post Oak grill instead of trying a new branch, but this was a lot closer to home and my stomach was crying for food.
The place was pretty clean. it better be for being a new restaurant. When we walked over to our table, I saw my waiter’s face dropped. I guess it’s because he’s not used to seeing people under the age of 29. (I am of age but I look like I’m still in middle school). BF and I decided to order the crispy calamari and shrimp served with roasted tomato sauce & chipotle remoulade. The dish came out really OILY. But I did enjoy the sauteed red onions and bell peppers on top of the dish. I ordered the SHRIMP, CRAB & AVOCADO SALAD… Sounded good right? OMG not even close. it came out kinda watery and so was the taste. I think I ate like 6 pieces of the avocado because it was the only thing that was edible.
BF ordered a lobster ravioli with wild mushrooms, bianco sauce, caramelized onions & blackened chicken. It sounded amazing too! What can go wrong with LOBSTER? Apparently it can! The ravioli was REALLY al dente. almost raw. BF couldn’t even finish the meal! I think the server checked on us once… when we were about to get the check.
Yeah…I don’t think I will return here anytime soon.

Very beautiful restaurant and atmosphere. They even have a table in the wine cellar for private parties.
I had the Field and Stream (petite fillet and crab cake with shrimp) which was very good. Hubby said the ribeye was just ok.
The white chocolate mousse cake was not ok. It had a weird syrup drizzled over it, which mixed with the different flavors. I love white chocolate but didn’t even finish this one.

Even though I made reservations last minute, they gave us a booth facing the man-​made lake that’s behind the restaurant. Not beautiful to look at when it’s still light outside but once the sun started setting, the lights were nice.
I wanted to take my mom out to celebrate her birthday and ended up choosing this place. You dont have to valet (do they even have valet?) since there is a pretty big parking lot in the front. We came at 6pm and by the time we left around 8, the place was packed.
I’m guessing they listened to Melissa M.‘s review since we got more than enough bread to start with. There was a plate of bread w/​pâté on it and then came by later with a bread basket. Not complaining since I do love bread and my favorite out of those would be the cheddar and bacon biscuits. I ended up eating too much of those little things. A glass of wine and some salad later, my entrée of salmon came. Salmon was okaybut the risotto that came with it was… not.
I got to try some of my mom’s chicken alex and I wanted to trade dishes with her but managed to refrain myself.
Bread pudding for dessert was delicious. Warm and topped with vanilla icecream. I’m thinkful that I have such a generous mother who let me eat more than half of her «birthday cake».
We were taken really good care of and our waitress did such a good job my mom even told me to tip her more. As we were leaving the restaurant, one of the little girls standing behind the counter even ran infront of us to open the door. Scared me a little but a nice touch nonetheless!

Hey not bad.
My family and I went here on a Sunday as a lunch brunch and I have to say I enjoyed it. Great service, great location, and some pretty good food. The food is a bit pricy, but it is not bad at all.
The desserts are made there and thats what really impressed me and I really enjoyed my Tres Leches. This place in terms of food really has a bit of everything and I really appreciate that. However it seemed a little boring. I don’t think the place knows what it is really going for, the music made it seemed classy, the prices showed it being classy, but the name «Grill» does not sound classy to me at all.
I don’t know if what I am saying makes sense, but if your in the area, this is a good place for lunch. Or if you happen to be like me and coming out of the hospital across the street, well… this place is straight ahead.

Fantastic food, great service, attentive staff, and a wonderful atmosphere. It’s refreshing to know there are still establishments out there that actually TRY to earn your business rather than just expect it.
If you’re unhappy with something here, ask the staff for a remedy; they’ll do everything in reason to accommodate your request.

I came here an hour and a half before closing one night to have a few drinks with a friend. I didn’t get to try any of there food, just the drinks. The place just opened not too long ago so everything inside was nice and clean. The bar is located to the right once you enter and, on the night I went, there was a guy playing some jazz music on the keyboard. There are a few tables near the bar that provide some privacy or you can sit at the bar and enjoy your drinks there.
The bartender I had made the drinks perfectly. Her name was Jana so if you get the chance to check out the bar, see to it that she is your bartender. There was also another bartender working that night that had made some killer drinks. His name was Andrew so definitely try to get one of the two to be your bartender. The price of drinks were reasonable and what you’d find at other places.
Overall, this seems to be a good place to come on a date and enjoy a fancy meal or just enjoy a couple drinks at the bar with some friends. The restaurant just opened so everything is clean inside and in pristine condition. I’d come again although, there was nothing about Post Oak that I can say blew me away. If anything, I’d just come for some drinks because the bartenders made some good drinks.

I’m so disappointed. We went here for Sunday lunch and were really disappointed in our food. Post Oak Grill is a high end restaurant. In the evening they have valet. There is a private wine room, well trained servers, white table cloth service, etc… It’s the type of place you’d possibly have a nice evening out or even go for a special occasion. This new location looks out onto the lake behind Whole Foods.
We walked in and were seated right away. The room was less than 25% full. For some unknown reason they sat us as far from the windows that overlook the lake as possible, and we actually ended up right next to the place where the servers came out of the kitchen and where they also input all their orders. Because of the table we were seated at, we didn’t have a nice view of the lake, but more importantly, we had the servers all hovering behind us and had to listen to their chatting throughout our meal. This would have been solved if they just take advantage of the good view tables first… Oh wait, they did. As soon as we were seated, every group that came in after us got a great table by the windows. I just didn’t think we had to ask for a better table.
Ok, so the table wasn’t what caused me to give them 2 stars, it was the food. First, you start with some bread at the table. They give you exactly the same number of pieces of bread as people at the table. When there are just two of us there, it seems a little silly. It wasn’t some fancy bread, it was just sliced baguette. Anyway, I understand not wanting to waste excess, but maybe stick 4 pieces in the basket? Crazy. I know.
Then we ordered lunch. My husband ordered the club sandwich ($ 13.95) and I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich ($ 11.75). Both of them specified that they came with «crispy potatoes». When you think of crispy potatoes, what do you think of? Well, they were french fries. They should have labeled them the same thing Ore Ida does, since they obviously came straight from the bag. They were totally Sysco frozen fries. My chicken sandwich was boring and very small. The grilled onions were served on the side and there were very few. They try and fill the small plate by putting huge pieces of watermelon on it. If you take the melon away, you wonder what you are paying for. My husband had the club sandwich was not as good as even Café Express. The bread was soggy, the mayo was straight from the Hellman’s jar, and the cheese was slices of cheddar and swiss. There was absolutely nothing special about our food. One might argue that we got what we ordered, and yes, we did. But at an establishment such as the Post Oak Grill, I expect more. Maybe throw a few herbs in the mayo? Maybe make some fries from scratch?
Our service was very good. The waitress and manager were on top of things for sure, but I came to eat a satisfying lunch and ended up for what I think of as lunch I could have packed myself to bring to work. For the price, it isn’t even close to worth it.
Save your money and go across the parking lot to Azuma. Their kitchen is slow, but their food is spot on.
