The service at this store is horrible, the people are rude and not willing to step up and help find products is the unorganized mess.

Second visit. Second fabric purchase. To make a really crazy creative encouraging sewing project.
Once you are inside this newish and nice mega strip mall. be mindful of aimless shoppers and drivers crossing here and there. Pack your polite.
This Joann’s for my two visits really helpful but not too intrusive retail staff. It’s like everyone that works here really likes fabric! (even the sewing machine reps !)

Especially of note the staff in the fabric cutting station provided lots of practical help; and were fast and efficient.

The only weird thing about the second experience was with for all the different yards of fabric we purchased, they didn’t put it in a bag… they just handed to us. The cashier was delightful otherwise.

Zero stars, just got done and terrible service. I walked right out. The lady at the area where they cut fabric should re-​evaluate why she has a job at this store. Glad we have Michaels and Hobby Lobby. This place was not worth coming to.

So I came into this Joann’s to purchase vases for my school. I ended up returning them because we decided not to use them. At the counter, they gave me a hard time trying to return them because apparently they were a past season item; the sku wasn’t in the system (and on the day of purchase the associate asked a manager if it was okay to sell it and gave like a «dummy sku» for it. I was NEVER told I couldn’t return them because they were a past season item. If I wasn’t allowed to return it, they could have at least written it on my receipt). Well they refused to return it and I told them «Oh well I was never told I couldn’t return them and no where on the receipt does it say that these vases could not be returned». She continued to argue with me and said «Yes it says it on the back» and showed it to me and the policy states «holiday/​seasonal/​discontinued can not be returned for a refund» which I totally understand. However, no where on the receipt does it state that this particular vase is a seasonal item and I couldn’t return it. I kept pressing that issue and the associate and manager just refused to listen and kept saying that the policy states it. But again, how is a customer to know if the item they would like to return cannot be returned because it is a seasonal item. I could’ve had 20 items on that receipt so how would I have known that these two vases are not able to be returned. Overall, they were rude, condescending, and shouldn’t be working with customers.

Train your freaking employees. They are walking around like a chicken with their heads cut off. No one knows how to do anything in this place.

This is our go to place, better selection and prices than the other draft supply stores. The staff in the fabric department are very helpful. Usually a coupon online for a discount too.

Took our daughter in for, what we thought would be, a fun summer sewing class. Picked them up a few hours later and she was crying while painstakingly removing the stitching she had done. The ogre teacher — Linda — had insulted her for not following instructions and told her she had hearing and listening problems. She doesn’t if course. I guess with it being hard to find jobs torturing small animals, Linda has decided to make Joann’s her personal Guantanamo Bay. I hope you read this Linda. You should not interact with other humans. Way to ruin a hobby for my daughter!

You don’t want me sewing so why did I come here. No DNA indicates that I should shop here, doctors orders are to stay off the broken foot, router down, can’t blog, this is my solution to boredom. No greeting card is mailed out that does not make someone smile, combine a great photograph, pop in mail — thus the reason for the review. I did not need more ink or fabric or paper but this place is clean, staff were helpful, whipped out the phone and got a 40% off on a regular item and 15% off the rest of the items.
Check out line was long and I heard the funniest conversation with a mother and her 7 year old discuss how many beers his dad drinks, mother wants child to know dad drinks other things, child says he drinks alot of beers, revive Art Linkletter?

Worst customer service EVER! Their fabric department personnel are so rude. They totally ignore a whole line of people waiting for 2 members to acknowledge us!!! Ridiculous!!!

Came here cause I needed fabric for a custom outfit I needed right away. They had a lot of fabric, but it seems a lot of colors (and fabric style) I wanted was already wiped clean (still made due with what I could find though). Customer service wise it was ⁵⁰⁄₅₀. I know nothing about patterns, cloth, what have you so when I asked for help deciding what type of fabric I needed for a certain parts of my outfit, I was assisted. But when it came time to cutting, it seemed like I asked for the worst thing ever to have performed.
I just asked for help/​clarify reading the instructions my seamstress gave to me for the fabric and one of the ladies didn’t seem to care and seemed annoyed I had too much fabric to cut. In the end I ended up with too much of a certain fabric (which wasn’t the right type I needed. hope it works out though).
*Shrugs* other than that, I’am glad this store exists, but if my seamstress does a good job *fingers crossed*, I may try another Jo-​ann location.

Being a total pleb when it comes to sewing, I went here with a list of requirements from a seamstress. After a while of pacing the aisles, I proudly discovered exactly what I needed, fleece, 2 zippers, elastic and batting and strode up to the counter where I waited patiently for my number (chest puffed out a little, cause hey, I’ve never been in those aisles before!)
My experience in this place is normally very pleasant, staff is lovely, friendly, you can always find someone, and, until today, I’d have given this place 5 stars without even thinking about it. Today, however, I used the material counter for the first time — and, I met some rude and hostile lady called Cheri. Who had no time for me. No patience for me and who’s customer service was anywhere BUT in JoAnns today!!!
When my number was called, I asked Cheri if she could cut me a meter of batting. She said no (not politely or friendly either). She said she worked in yards only, to which I replied that a meter, was 1.093 yards. She again said ‘no’ (rudely) and said ‘figure it out’, I said ‘figure what out?’ and she said, tell me exactly what you need — me, being from the UK, thought I HAD done just that.
I needed a freakin’ meter of material.
She said ‘my brain doesn’t work like that’.
Ok but YOU are the one paid to do the work, don’t tell ME to figure it out. I told you that a meter was just a bit shy of 1 and a tenth yards and you got aggressive and hostile!!!
Well, if I didn’t leave that place deflated and feeling like an idiot.
Go to a different JoAnns to get material cut, that or ask for someone else — especially if you are new to sewing or get sent with a shopping list by a seamstress. RUDE.

Superbly well stocked store for any and all sewing or craft needs with few extras.
My shopping needs were mostly for craft items but I did browse the sewing section for possible future projects. The store is large and aisles are somewhat vaguely marked so I had to do a little searching for exactly what I wanted. Once I learned the layout finding items was a breeze.
There are products for every type craft imaginable. Knitting, cross-​stitch, scrap booking, appliqué, home décor, kids’ crafts and doll clothes, various paint items and even bird houses and other wooden crafts can be found here. If you are interested in or do any of the above mentioned hobbies, then you should check this place out.
The sewing department has everything from machines of all types to a good variety of fabrics and accessories. There were lots of seasonal fabrics and children’s character themes. The pattern selection is of a moderate size but has decent variations of sizes and styles. Fabrics can be purchased in the yardage needed and are priced as such.
There were employees sewing in the area and I did see signs stating that lessons are offered for anyone interested in learning sewing.
Prices are inexpensive to moderate depending on what you are purchasing. They had some seasonal sales as well as clearance markdowns. The employees were helpful and friendly. There was a minor stall in the cashier line but the problem was quickly solved and other cashiers assisted to make sure the line moved efficiently. They apologized for the wait and showed good customer service skills.
When I find myself in need of a craft item or decide to do some sewing for whatever reason I’ll come back and look here first. I’m very glad I stopped in.

This is really only for the sewing machine department, as the rest of it is ok. Jo-​Ann as a whole is nothing special, but it’s nice how often they send you coupons.
First of all, it’s really annoying that this seems to be the only location in Houston that carries more than 1 serger or embroidery model. It’s a pain in the butt to drive from central Houston through the 610 and 59 traffic, but I guess that’s more of a corporate issue. It’s extra annoying when nobody tells you on either of the 2 trips you took that the very expensive machine you’re looking to buy is non refundable, not even as they’re about to have you fill out the paperwork to buy it. It’s not even listed as being excluded on the website. When I’m about to drop $ 500 on something that’s not really a common purchase (like a car, everyone knows you can’t return that), I appreciate people being upfront about the return policy without having to ask. It’s a good thing I didn’t make any assumptions.
The customer service was also hit or miss for me. The first time I went to inquire about their sergers, the two younger employees were very helpful. Obviously they were trying to sell me the more expensive one, but they were good about asking my specific needs and telling me why model b was better than model a for me. They weren’t being pushy about it either. Today, the only employee in that section, an older lady, barely even greeted me and looked really annoyed at being interrupted from her embroidery project. When you work in retail, it’s really important to smile and be affable or nobody is going to want to buy from you. Clearly, she doesn’t understand that.

So I’m really not sure why someone would come here. I came looking for a special type of paint that only hobby stores carry (and according to the product’s distributor, Jo-Ann’s carries), and it turns out they didn’t have it. The people were friendly enough, but not particularly helpful compared to the other craft stores I went to. Overall my impression was that most of the stuff you could get here you can get online for cheaper. Of course that goes for most hobby/​craft stores.

They have a great selection, but they could really use a little help in terms of customer service. I went in with a supply list for one of their classes. I needed help looking for some of the items since I am not familiar with this store. Unfortunately, I could not find anyone to help me properly. Anytime I asked someone for the location of something, they’d just give me a vague idea of where it’s located and immediately walk away. This happened about 3 times. It would have been nice if someone would have walked me over and showed me where the item (s) I was looking for were located. The store wasn’t even that busy! They just didn’t seem interested in helping.
On the other hand, my cashier was awesome and friendly.

Much cleaner, spacious, and better selection than the Weslayan store. Obviously, it’s a bigger facility and can accommodate more. Would probably be worth the drive for me.
The cutting table staff was very friendly and happy to help troubleshoot how to make something without a pattern.
