Fort Bend County Library

This is one of the older libraries in the system, I think (at least, from the dedication plaque and the look of the building). It’s also a bit smaller, but it was quite popular. I was trying to find a study spot on a weekday afternoon, and every spot except for one study hutch was taken. Not wanting to be that awkward person who wants to share a table, I opted for the study hutch.
Basically, the library is fairly quiet despite being busy, and it has a cute, brightly decorated kids’ area and an after-​school program for kids (which is awesome!). As far as studying goes, though, I’ll probably take it to a different spot since I found it too crowded and the building smaller than others in the system. Ironically, I didn’t actually look at any of the books while I was there… only enough to verify that yes, they do have books there.
Oh, and the free Wifi did work, which enabled me to do my homework. They also have public access computers available.

Always comfortable and relatively quiet. Plenty of internet access and electrical outlets for my laptop. I come here sometimes to do my homework. I recommend this branch

Sorry — Seats are way too low and not adjustable, odd timings, they tried to charge me for a book that was dirty and told me it was my responsibility to go through the book before checking it out to let them know that it was not clean. The restrooms are uncleanly. The staff is not that helpful except one black lady (SO SWEET). I had to answer a phone call and the old white lady (short hair with glasses) came up to me and rudely told me not to use it and that it messes with their wireless and then huffed off. You barely get computer time (1 hour) while other locations allow 4 – 8 hours. The only pro besides the lady I mentioned being sweet is that it is convenient.

Bring headphones. Librarians do not know how to be quiet.
Too many distractions. Kids running all over the place.
Too crowded and noisy.
2 stars for the free wifi.
Wish they had better hours.
They close at 5 most days, 9pm at the latest.
Wish they at least stayed open until midnight.

I was expecting a quiet library with plenty of table space and study rooms. however, I experienced the exact opposite. There are 2 rows of seating and I avoided the children’s area so I could study in peace and quiet. When I arrived around 11 am, all of the tables were taken, and the study rooms have a 2 hour time limit.
My hour at the adult side of the library consisted of children banging on walls, talking, crying, and poking at books. Not the tranquil study atmosphere I was hoping for. The study tables are smack in the middle of the library, in between all the rows of books so there is a lot of traffic and distractions while trying to study.
Time to hunt for another study area!

Located in a quiet location.
I drove around the area and got lost one time and found my way walking into the library.
The librarian was friendly in greeting me, and I recall the place being spacious, quiet, clean, and a great environment for kids.

This library is kind of small and when I went, there really wasn’t any open seating. In all fairness, I went in during finals week and I don’t really go that much to have something to compare to. As I go more often though, I’ll probably put in a second review.

Nothing like having a library with great customer service right next door! I never get disappointed here. We make weekly trips to the library (me and the boys) and my kids enjoy it eveytime! They are able to play on the computers, play with puzzles, and read books!
They have pajama night on Thursday nights and thats fun for kids.

Take advantage of the wifi if you have a laptop or mobile device. Often, the computer lab can be full of people checking facebook rather than actual purposeful library stuff. The staff was really courteous and helpful though when I was trying to find a particular book.

There are lots of outlets at the table for laptops and it is pretty quiet most of the time. You can even eat/​drink while you study even though they have signs that tell you not to. I’m a rebel. Come at me librarians.

It’s everything I’d want in a library. Spacious, quiet and convenient. The books are organized very well and I like that the adult section is on one side while the children’s section is on the other side.
The only thing I wish is that they carried more copies of the ‘popular’ books. About to be on a wait list of 500+ people so that I can read Fifty Shades of Grey.lol. I’ll be lucky if I get it by early next year! I guess I shouldn’t complain since it’s a library and it’s free. But hey, first world problems.

Such a nice place to study or get away. Everything about this place feels like a home away from home.

What is better than being able to rent books for free? Nothing! This Sugar Land branch makes it very easy to do just that. They have a fairly large selection at the library itself, however, what makes it even better is that all the Fort Bend libraries are networked. This means that if this library doesn’t have one and another library in Fort Bend does, you can request it from this location.
Furthermore, this location has a decent amount of computers and everything else you’d expect in a library: a few study rooms, plenty of tables, a kids section, magazines, and more. The staff here is very friendly and more than happy to help you find a book. Also, if you don’t want to waste time finding a particular book at the library, you can log on to their online database and request a book or have a book placed on hold.
Overall, I like to come here whenever I have time. They have a wide selection and an even larger selection online. Why spend money to buy a book when you can check one out for free from the library? If you’re a bookworm, this place is sure to satisfy your book cravings.

This is my favorite library in Southwest Houston, located in Sugar Land’s Sugar Mill neighborhood.
There are plentiful of computers, study rooms, and the ambience is comfortable. They rent out meeting rooms for free as well.
The only thing is that this library doesn’t have too many books. But it’s a library where I can feel comfortable in.
My favorite library in the west part of Houston has to be also another Fort Bend branch, this one in Katy across Cinco Ranch High School. There, the library is bigger, has more books, a law library, and a pond outside with waterfalls. Talk about finding inner peace (outdoors)! Plus there’s more food goodies near Katy’s library than Sugar Land’s — such as the Marini’s Oringinal Empanada House.
