Absolutely the best ever. Everyone in the office is so kind to all the animals, it is such a great environment to bring your pets to. When my beloved dog died several years ago, Dr. Knox was so compassionate and knowledgeable, i couldn’t have gotten through it without her. Pam and the girls that work up front are awesome too. I have just moved back to Sugar Land and I can’t wait to take my cats here!

Dr. George Woodley (owner) and Dr. Helen Knox have cared for my family’s dogs & cats for over 20 years! I highly recommend their expert care and you can trust them to be honest and compassionate, they are pet owners & animal people too!
I have a special needs cat, the kitten of a feral mama cat, who was born with a heart condition. Dr. Woodley has provided excellent care for him since I rescued him and has helped me care for him as best as I can (he takes heart medication daily).
***For the negative reviewers — — - it is always the owner’s responsibility to raise their pet canine properly and socialize them so that they will not behave aggressively around other people or when they are brought to the vet! There are no bad dogs, only bad owners! Spay or neuter your pet, train them, and socialize them (doggy day care, dog park, walking) — they deserve a happy life!***

We y originally went to this vet with my three small dogs because of all of the reviews it got on Unilocal and Internet. When I walked in I was greeted very friendly by the front desk, they were knowledgeable of questions that I asked and then I went in the back and that with the doctor. I have a brand-​new puppy that’s about three months old sweetest can be, he’s a terrier boxer something next, he was so glad I could not believe it just confused about what was going on and why so many people were touching him, the doctor went to pick my puppy up underneath his arms just to look at his body, and my dog, Oliver, was staring at him like why are you touching me. LoL like I said he is a puppy but he does not have the puppy teeth that hurt you when unit that you so when the doctor started grabbing his arms Oliver turned his head to the side and miffed at his hand, not biting just playing with him, he’s a baby. The doctor, I don’t remember his name he was an older man then raised his hand and smacked my dog in the face, I absolutely could not believe it. I do not hit my God anything I tell him no, or don’t bite, and tap him on his butt if that. I will never go back to the doctor again and I am filing a complaint.

I am currently caring for 7 cats (3 of which are mine), and I highly recommend Dr. Helen Knox as far as felines go. As someone else said, she doesn’t sugar coat it for you, but honestly I prefer it that way. When I’m taking a potentially sick cat to the vet I don’t want to deal with beating around the bush. She’s also very realistic about treatment options, and will straightforwardly tell you what is reasonable and what is not. However, I would not recommend Dr. Woodley for cats. I have taken a couple of mine to him and he a) didn’t really ever tell me what he thought was wrong, nor did he seem to know what he was doing, and b) he ALWAYS suggested a very expensive injection of some sort, most of which didn’t help at all. I took a foster kitten in to see him in an emergency as she was having very bad diarrhea, and he simply administered a shot without telling me what he thought was wrong with her, and he barely even touched her. A week later her diarrhea was even worse, and I finally resorted to homemade chicken and rice, which stopped the issue the very next day. Once, (for another cat), he even asked me «if I loved my cat enough» to pay for a $ 100 shot. Of course I would, if I knew that it would actually help, but I’ve always hated it when vets say that kind of thing. It’s extremely rude and manipulative. Perhaps he knows more about and is better with dogs, but cats don’t seem to be his forte. So if you do have a cat and are looking for quality care and reasonable prices, Dr. Helen Knox is excellent! She clearly loves and cares for cats very much, and always treats them with care and a gentle touch. A+!

Do not use for grooming services! Horrible job.

I am an overbearing doggie Mom of a wonderful 3 year old pit-​mix who has had health issues from the day I found him at 6 wks old. I drive from the midtown area to see Dr. Woodley/​Dr. Knox for every little issues; although they won’t sugar coat things for you, they have always taken the time out to give you their honest opinion and offer various solutions if possible. Also, I noticed the comment above said their prices are high but in reality they are extremely reasonable, not just for the area but for a vet clinic in general. I have recommended several of my friends and every single one of them has been very happy with their services. I love my dog and wouldn’t take him anywhere else and highly recommend this place to anyone.

My family have been patrons of Dr. George Woodley (owner) and Dr. Helen Knox since the early 1990’s. They always provide honest, caring and quick service. The Vets are two very different individuals with a common bond of loving animals.
Dr. Woodley is a respect community leader. He has seen Sugar Land grow up and he always seeks to help out neighborhood kids in giving them a job they can be proud of. After years of bringing our animals to Dr. Woodley (as with most his staff) he offered me a job which I kept for 5 ½ years. He treats his employees like family and is one of the few vets who offered insurance, IRA’s, and discounted services to employees. To his clients, he is the quintessential good olé’ boy, who is always going and always funny. He does all the surgeries at the clinic and makes sure he does them, quickly as to speed up recovery time.
Dr. Knox is one of the most respected Vets in the area, always being called on to consult in other clinics veterinary cases. She works the best with unruly cats. My Lucky being one of them (she doesn’t even hiss at Dr. Knox anymore). She is a brutally honest person who has no tolerance for not following instruction… and she lets you know it. some people are offended by that, but I think its one of her best qualities. She tells you what you need to hear, not what would be the best to hear in your interest, because she is out to help your pet first and then you in the process.
The rest of the staff are very friendly. Kim, the office manager, can often be seen helping the doctors. Pam is a fixture at the front desk and always has a way to brighten your day. The groomers, Pat and Tammy, are seldom seen, but you know when you get your pet back from grooming that they’ve truly cared for your pet.
This clinic is full service, meaning the offer vet services, surgery, x-​rays, grooming, day stays and boarding. It is one of the most affordable places in town. In my opinion they have their prices to low for the quality of service and care they provide your pet as well as you!
