I have been visiting Evans Farms since I moved to Suffolk three years ago. When I need a quick stop for local produce, I visit Mr. Evans. The small farm stand located inside –carries just a few local veggies and fruits– as well as additional produce from the neighboring southern states. The main attraction in the spring is pick-your-own strawberries. Mr. Evans’ strawberries are the best: juicy, ripe, and sweet. Quieter than other busy places, Evans Farms has plenty of space to pick. If you stop in, you can pick up a full bucket of fresh strawberries for $ 12.00, or you can pick-your-own strawberries for $ 2.00/pound. Letting your kids pick is a real treat. I will say that the crop this year is a bit small. Usually they have big, red strawberries bursting with flavor. I think the early crop and weather made smaller strawberries. However, they still look and taste delicious. Mr. Evans is always there at the store; he starts his day at 10:00. There are a couple of items including beautiful handcrafted knives and local peanuts. During the fall, pumpkins are also available. Check them out!
