I was surprised the other day when my son pointed out a new store where the Goodwill used to be. I have visited another CHKD(Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters) Thrift Stores before, and I was happy to see it taking over that spot. According to their website, «The CHKD Thrift Stores are a project of the Norfolk City Union of The King’s Daughters, the founding organization of CHKD. The first CHKD Thrift Store opened in 1986 in Norfolk on Little Creek Road. CHKD Thrift Stores have expanded to include 28 locations throughout Hampton Roads and Richmond, including Elizabeth City and Kitty Hawk, NC»( ). I went inside today for a quick walkthrough and noticed a few differences compared to Goodwill. CHKD seems to have a larger selection of clothes and each item has a price tag. Most tags were posted as $ 2.99 or $ 3.99 The store appeared very tidy and less cluttered. They do carry the same things such as furniture, household items, books, shoes, etc. Those are located around the perimeter. *Military Mondays 20% off *Texting Tuesdays – Text KIDS to 71441 for 25% off *Senior Citizens Thursdays 20% off *You are allowed to take in only 3 items into the changing room. *You can donate items right at the store or you can call them for pick up.(757) 622-KIDS I do like that CHKD Thrift Stores brings in more than $ 2.5 million to CHKD in a single year, and that goes right into our community. I will definitely shop here instead of Goodwill.
