Good Samaritan Hospital

Let me first say the medical care was standard that we received from Good Sam. The issue I have have had and remind you to consider is how they have managed or better yet mismanaged the billing for service. It has now been over a year that I have been billed for full service from the ER Physicians. My daughter went in for emergency treatment on 10÷14÷14. The in network service was paid by insurance on 10÷27÷14. For all of 2015, and early 2016, I have been billed by DBA Good Samaritan Emergency Room Physicians for the full 281.00, A BILL FOR WHICH THEY HAD ALREADY BEEN. PAID THROUGH INSURANCE! spent hours upon hours on the phone with Good Sam billing andEMA Recovery, their collection agency to resolve this issue. I am uncertain, if this is someway to collect more money from those who do not dispute. After a year, it gas finally been acknowledged that they were paid. However this January I continue to be billed as if in arrears. When I called GS to question the bill again, I was told they were just paid in Jan 2016. I asked them to look as they were paid on time 10÷27÷14. The woman agreed and said she would email EMA. When I asked for a copy, she stated she could not. I just today received another bill so issue Is still not resolved. For the short assistance they were in 2014, the stress, time and trouble since are, not worth it. It should not be this difficult to rectify a billing issue within their own system. Many hospitals have this issue however are much quicker to resolve when it is an error. The dress from waiting for weak response times and continued reporting on my credit report is disturbing !

I only give it 1 star because there no spot for 0 I went to work today and became so light headed I had to be transported by Ambulance they were going to put me in the hall but they had to do an EKG and I guess they didn’t want to have my chest exposed. The Doctor came in sat down and in a nasty voice said «what do you want me to do for you today I explained I ve been sick for 1 month and can’t stand or sit up to long I’ve been having test in Orange county but I work in Rockland and so ended up there because I’m sick. after he asked me 4 more times what I wanted him to do about it I asked for a blood test because I’m sick. He stood up listened to my lungs then stated I will only do the minimum blood test on you I won’t run any other test because you’ve had them, I told him I had not got the MRI results, though they request them but he never did. I asked him for a sip of water because my mouth was so dry. he looked at me like I wanted him to cut off his arm. He then told me again that he was ordering an IV because I was dehydrated and the minumin blood test only I did at some time tell him that I’m a nurse and to tell you the truth would treat myself if I could but I’m sick. The teck came in to draw my blood I asked him what blood test were ordered I had already decided not to allow them to puncture my skin he said the minimum blood test metabolic panel only I guess they only do the minimum of anything. I called my Husband and told him to come get me as I don’t want to put anybody out if they don’t want to treat me i’ll leave but not AMA as my insurance won’t cover it. I informed the nurse I didn’t want the IV and I’ll go to my primary doc for the blood. The doc then came back with a sympathetic look on his face I was too sick still am to fight with him. I explained that I thought I was sick and need more the the minimum test at least a lyme disease test and that I drank tons of water yesterday so I’m not dehydrated. He then said I’ll discharge you with a diagnosis of dizziness I accepted it but I’m not dizzy I’m lightheaded there’s a big difference I’m 56 years old I have a hole in my heart I could be having mini stroke, heart attack, but I only ranked for the minimum test. I have great insurance??? I guess they don’t like to make money. I’m going to my primary doc on Monday if I make it that long. I will never go to an ER again I’ll have to be dead and have no say and pray it doesn’t happen in Rockland co. Oh forgot after I told him I was leaving he asked me if I drank anything I said no I don’t have a cup, guess they wanted me to drink it out of the sink too. His name is Dr Pabo.

This is a review of the ER at good Sam. Terrible. I only gave two stars because the staff was at least friendly. I just brought my 98 year old grandmother there this morning, as i was told to do by her primary care physician, who also works at Good Sam. They did not bring a wheelchair for her and, when they brought us to her room, it hadn’t been cleaned! There was vomit (I assume, since it was at the head of the bed) on the sheet, and the food tray and garbage were still there from the previous patient. The orderly had us WAIT right outside the room while he cleaned it. Yes, they left my 98-​great old grandmother to stand while he cleaned the room. (I find a seat in the hall and put her in it). I explained to everyone that her doctor told us to have him paged when we arrived. They all refused to page him since the protocol is have hey first see an er nurse, and then the ER doctor, and then that er doctor can call her doctor, even though her doctor was there. Two hours after arriving, my uncle was able to get someone to actually page the doctor. Sigh I get that they were busy, but no excuse not to take proper care of a patient.

I am currently sitting in the emergency room with my mother for more than an hour. They are not busy and no one has come near us and I have been to the nurses station 4 times. Why build a beautiful emergency area with no one to stock it. Oh and there are empty rooms and we are in the hallway.

My dad had open heart surgery here. He spent a week in the ICU and then a few more days in the Step Down ICU rooms before they released him. My dad saw a cardiologist, cardiac surgeon, physical therapist, dietician, GI, urologist and had about a handful of nurses. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I suppose the proof is in the pudding! My dad went into the emergency Friday and had a quintuple bypass Monday. Our family was very nervous and the nurses let is call the ICU any time 24×7. Visitor hours were 12−7pm. My dad recovered slowly but well. He has much to thank to all the staff at Good Sam. He walked out of there a new man!

Good Sam has come a long way!!! I’m impressed at the recent improvements made. The ER is more organized and compartmentalized in a way that makes any ER visit more efficient. The staff is friendly too.
I was there to visit a friend who just had a baby and of course I was hungry… (I have an appetite similar to someone with a tape worm) and I went into the Lafayette Café on the first floor. They have great food!
Actually, the hospital food is good too. My friend was eating some gourmet lunch — well deserved after giving birth. The place is up to par and the nurses and doctors have a great bedside manner.
Looking forward to lunch there tomorrow. Oh, and seeing my girl and baby Harper!

Sadly I have been in many emergency rooms. Tis one is better than Nyack and not as good as most in the city. When it mattered they were there for me and took care of what they had to. When it was less urgent times… It took forever… Their attitude was poor… But then again thatis the case with any ER I have been to in the last 15 years.

Writing this due to exceptionally poor experiences with my family.
Too much time spent waiting for doctors that never show and nurses that are useless. Even a simple request for a drink of water went unanswered until the patient went to a faucet and started drinking from a cupped hand.
In an emergency cardiac situation, this isn’t care to complain about, this is care that kills patients. I’ll echo the other review, complaints to the patient advocate are useless and a waste of time.

Emergency dept is dirty and disorganized. I was there for a simple broken finger and saw Dr. Brian Blaufeux. Not only I was misdiagnosed with nerve damage in the finger but my fracture was not addressed. Please safe yourself some time and go to another facility. If you want to file a complaint to Patient Advocate do not waist your time, that department is useless.
