Merrifield Garden and Design

My elderly parents live in Natick and Merrifield Garden and Design is their gardening company. I am the one who coordinates with the owner, Katie, when I am in town checking in on my parents. I am also the one who handles the billing. We’ve had no problems at all in 7 years. I knew immediately upon meeting her that her company would take good care of my parents when I’m away. Katie goes above and beyond to provide the services to best fit your needs and after you see what they do, you will be very pleased with their rates. Customer service is important to my Dad and he has been very pleased as he chats with her crew while they are there working. All are experienced and professional. You can’t go wrong with this company.

.This landscaping company is not competent and charges 50% more than most in the area. I had them install 3 arborvitaes in an existing garden bed. The bed is adjacent to stone wall and patio, so there was some pulverized concrete and stones in the area, which were used as the base of the hardscape. Rather than removing this material, they just added some compost and planted in this material, which is absolutely not suited for plant growth and sustainment.
Also they took 2 wheel barrow’s full of left over concrete and rocks and dumped in on top of my nice bed, which was ready for mulching and planting. In fact, they ruined the whole grade of the bed and had material overflowing over the stone wall into my grass. It was a disaster! Katie acted like she was doing me a huge favor by fixing the horrible mess she had made.
She never removed the 3 arborvitaes, to take out the concrete and rocks and replant, rather she threw some top soil down, and said it was all good. She may have a certificate in landscaping, but she obviously has no grasp of basic science. These plants will not thrive in these conditions.
Merrifield Garden and Design never addressed my concerns, instead they keep sending me emails demanding payment. I paid 300 for the plants and they want over 400 just for their horrible planting job. Outrageous!!!
I would advise staying away from this business at all costs. Russell’s garden center used them for planting, so avoid their services and find a better place. There are plenty of great landscaping companies in the area, which do good work and charge reasonable rates
