Nary Dairy

Had Nary Dairy cashew cheese for the first time last weekend at Vegan Oktoberfest. The sad part is, that was Nary Dairy’s last event before stopping production :(
They had four flavors for sale and I originally bought two. They offered to hang onto my purchase until I was ready to leave the event. When I went to pick it up, the nice lady threw in some pretzels and the other two cashew cheese flavors for free! So awesome of her :)
I had Freaky Feta, Sriracha Kimcheese, Smoked Buddha Gouda, and Golden Road Pub Cheese. The different flavors had different things to like about them. I’m not even sure if I have a favorite. I just know that I ate all four within 2.5 days of purchase.
I’m thinking about hitting up the stores this weekend to see who still has Nary Dairy on the shelves and buying up the rest of the inventory.
Dear Nary Dairy, I barely knew you… :*(

I visited the Nary Dairy booth earlier today at the Vegan Oktoberfest. Allen, the owner, was a kind and friendly man who let me have a sample of the Beer Pub Cheese they were selling. Yep, I was a goner. They use Golden Road’s Wolf Among Weeds IPA to make the cheese and it was damn delicious! At $ 5 a tub with some pretzel sticks, I was hooked.
The sad part is that today was actually Nary Dairy’s LAST day setting up shop. Allen is focusing his career on writing and told me all about his upcoming film endeavors and how he unfortunately has to stop running Nary Dairy. Great for Allen, but pretty sad to hear since I am a new fan of their products and now they’ll be gone!
They seems to be some buyers interested and Nary Dairy’s cream cheese spreads may come back, but as now, they’re closing shop for good. Hope to see them back in action sooner rather than later. Thanks Allen and Nary Dairy! I will indulge in the two tubs I have left!

Bought their herbed cream cheese (Cream Qi’z) at Mother’s Market in Costa Mesa last week. Very good. Looking forward to trying their other cheeses.

Addicting! I’m glad I don’t go to this Farmers Market as much as I use to and also super stoked even my local coffee shop is carrying them now.
It’s the best! $ 5 each and just perfect! Cashew base and full of flavor. I love the smoked cheddar and now they have a Gouda.
I still can’t convince my son to try it which is totally random because he has an adventurous palate for a child but for some reason has no interest in this, even better — more for me!
I’d love to see them in many more restaurants as an option to dairy based cheese, every chef should be onto this stuff if they aren’t by now. Fabulous!
And they accept plastic forms of payment if for some reason you arrived to Farmers Market sans cash or ran out before you made your way to them.

The best Vegan Cheese in the world. No joke. I have tried every vegan cheese at Whole Foods and I now understand why most people do not want to go vegan after eating those. Sorry Whole Foods. The owners are so nice also, they went out of their way to fill an order for out of stock items for my out of town guest I was having in like 2 days. Even my non-​vegan cousin’s wife loved this as did everyone at my party. I do not understand why they are not famous yet. You guys ROCK!!!

I’ll be honest, I had never heard of cashew cheese before I met my client, Lois. She brought me a sample and I was hooked. I’m a big guy who likes to think he eats healthy but I’m always weary of too healthy but this is too healthy and too delicious mixed in one. I now find myself at the farmers market every Sunday to pick up my garlic gilroy. I love to spread it on gluten free toast and cut up half am avocado on top. You’re welcome for the food tip!

Nice people, great product. This was supposed to be my treat, as I’m the health food nut in the house, but then my husband and daughter (who love dairy like they were born in Wisconsin) discovered my stash and all three containers of my vegan-​probiotic-​cashew-​nobody-​will-​like-​this-​but-​me cheese was gone in a day. While I’m pleased that they like something that is good for them, I’m a bit selfish with my treats. I don’t like like cashews and my family doesn’t like faux anything, but we LOVE this. It’s just seriously good stuff!

Nary Dairy is awesome. I’m not normally all that into spreads/​dips, but this stuff is DELICIOUS! I particularly love it with Trader Joe’s Pretzel Slims and in soups! It is just flat-​out fantastic. The taste and texture are so perfect and you’d never guess that it’s not cheese. My favorite flavors are the Chia Cheddar, Gilroy Garlic, and the Hickory Smoked. Even though the packaging says that it tastes great for 7 days, I had some in my freezer for two weeks and just pulled it out the other day and it was still fresh and delicious. Plus the owners and employees are so lovely! Nary Dairy is simply the best!!!

I’m a sucker for cheese spreads. Though I’m no connoisseur of vegan cheese spreads, the friendly reps handed me a few samples & I knew I had to buy one. I had the Hickory smoked spread which consists of pulverized cashews, garlic & hickory smoked seasoning among other ingredients which I cannot recall.
When I brought it home, I had almost the whole container upon one sitting. It was THAT good. I plan on frequenting the farmer’s market for some more of this guilt-​free indulgence. The story is to be continued…

Some Nary Dairy came in to my possession at approximately 2pm today. The container is now empty and I am the only one who had access to it.

I dream about this stuff. Addictive is an understatement. Even my Wisconsin cheese loving boyfriend can’t get enough. Great to put out at parties — your guests will go nuts. Seriously. Love this company, love this product — as good as it gets.

Be Wary of Nary Dairy! It’s addictive. You’ll buy a container at the farmers market, and before you know it, you’re scraping at the corners of the container trying to get every last morsel. And that’s just in the car on the way home from the farmers market. See you next week.

god this stuff is good! i had it on my last trip to l.a. and couldn’t get enough! i can’t wait until it’s available outside the los angeles area — i’ll be having it shipped every week!

My girlfriend and I had just been talking about exploring new experiences in life, then she hands me a non dairy cheese spread. It was really delicious. In fact, I ate the whole thing myself in one greedy sitting. Now she’s doesn’t want to explore new experiences with me anymore. Thanks Nary Dairy, for your super yummy cheese spread and for ruining our day.

I’m an omnivore’s omnivore so at first blush a faux cheese spread is about as appealing to me as a faux cheese spread. But this stuff is ridiculously good. For me the problem with movements like vegan and gluten free has always been that the food was made by cooks, not chefs. As my dad once said when I was a kid, «If you want a good vegetarian meal go to a steak house.» Nary Dairy, however, challenges all of these assumptions and more. A cashew spread made with organic ingredients, it shouldn’t be compared to dairy at all. It’s delicious in its own right. The cheddar chia is incredible as is the original. If you like your spreads a little sweeter, try the beet. Or the beer cheese flavored one. Erewhon just got a supply and I’m hoping Whole Foods follows suit.

I love Nary Dairy! I tried it at the studio city market and have been hooked ever since. I eat it with the Mary’s Gone Crackers brand crackers that they sample the Nary Dairy with at the market– so good!!! it’s the only thing I snack on while watching zombie movies. My kids actually like it too, in spite of it being healthy. I love the Chia Cheddar flavor.

Every week (with the exception of this week, for some reason they were not present) one of the main attractions my girlfriend and I find is to this booth. As with so many other vendors, these folks have no storefront or kitchen and manufacture their cashew cheese product in the Chefs Center of California, that fantastic rent-​a-​space for entrepreneurial food businesses in Pasadena.
Flavors: variety 5/​5, taste: 3.75÷5. It’s usual, of course, that you find a place at which you like the samples so much that you feel obligated to make a purchase. Here, it felt like I wanted to make the purchase because I wanted to sit there with my girlfriend and devour a small container of the mesquite smoked cheddar. Yes, I say cheddar, but it’s truly, a cashew cheese. So truly it may have some of the flavor of cheese in that earthy smokiness way, but it is non-​dairy non-​soy and therefore makes a spread that tastes good, and can avoid a lot of those allergies/​intolerance people may have. Their website has a run-​down of all the specifications, which probably is too much to write, but seems quite healthy with its probioticness, veganness and rawness…
The non-«cheese» flavors with beets sometimes hit the spot, but not for everyone (they say men prefer them, but I have to say I like the smokey cashew-​cheese ones the most). These have no cashew cheese and don’t necessarily play by the rules (sometimes a bit sour, a bit of added spice, etc.). But it certainly makes a great spread on crackers, nonetheless.
In one sitting that container was gone, faster than some good Gouda and cheese from Beecher’s in Seattle. So, if it can out-​cheese cheese, it’s quite impressive.
