Josephine’s Nail Spa

They stayed open late for me. I was so thankful since I was leaving for my honeymoon! They do a consistently great job and are really fast EXCEPT ON THE WEEKEND but that’s pretty true of any nail salon. Weekdays are the best but week nights can be speedy too if it’s not neighboring a holiday. Everyone is friendly and on the ball but most importantly does really great work! Some of the weekend staff will try to force more expensive things on you but during the week it’s a lot less pressure.

This was my second time there, and they did a great job. My manicure is still perfect after almost a week, and it’s not even gel! This place is clean, but very low-​key, and can get crowded.
My only criticism was that the guy who cut my nails did so pretty haphazardly, and when they swapped out who was doing it (on their own, very confusing), she had to re-​cut and file them. They also never set me up with a fan or anything to dry my nails after– I just kind of sat at the table until I (hoped) they were dry.
Overall, though, my now go-​to place. The staff is friendly, the location is clutch, and they play shows on Netflix throughout.

The absolute best for gels. They stay on longer than two weeks which is incredible. The owners are super nice and customer service is great! They also have Tvs so you can completely relax:)

My regular nail girl was sick and Tanya was able to fit me in last minute even though it was Chinese New Year and all the staff left early. She was incredibly sweet, listened to what I wanted, and made sure I was happy. The décor and space were very comfortable, clean. I will definitely be coming back!

Overall it was a good experience. I got the pamper me silly pedicure and gel french pedicure. I felt that the warm steam towel procedure was rushed, plus I didn’t get cooling gel on my feet– just my legs. Good job on cleaning my toe nails, but I feel I could of bought the cheapest pedicure and gotten the same end results. Not to mention I feel ripped off with the gel prices. $ 16 + $ 8 for french. So I ended up paying $ 65. May come back, but get cheapest pedicure and not gel. I didn’t even get the «antioxidant dermal lotion.»
I was contacted by the manager and that made all the difference. I came back in and they made it right! Plus she explained to me the different procedures and how they work. Definitely pleased– will come back again!

I honestly feel so bad for not being able to give all 5 stars, but I’ll just give a run through of my experience…
This place is wonderful! From the moment you walk in, you feel like a star. They truly try their best for customer service, well for the most part.
I ordered the Pamper Me Silly Combo.
I had Eric do my pedicure, and I felt so bad because I knew I was in BIG NEED for a pedicure. He was so detailed, careful, and hard working. He took his time really cleaning my cuticles and surrounding areas. He took of ALL the dead skin, it was GREAT! I loved his work! His massage is suuuuuper good, best 15 minutes!
For my manicure I had Lyna. I loved everything she was doing until the time for nail polish came around. Some how, my nails touched the towel, and nail polish came off one nail. INSTEAD of removing nail polish and doing it again, she just out another layer. So I had a funky bump. I told Eric and he said it was okay and he put another layer of top coat. THAT WAS RIDICULOUS. They did NOT listen to me. The other nails were painted perfectly, but unfortunately, they didn’t go the extra mile. The bump of extra nail polish I had now has a line from me sewing, so my manicure obviously wasn’t worth the price…
I read 100s of reviews on Unilocal to find a great salon, and I truly thought this would be it, great spa treatment, decent pricing, spa chairs… Until I went and sat on an awful chair. My sister now has bruises from how horrible the chairs were…
It’s really clean, but I think if you really want good attention, go when it isn’t busy. If not, they won’t go the extra mile.

I’m pretty bummed about my shellac manicure which looks really crappy after just one week

Really good hidden place! Andy did my pedicure and shaped my nails perfectly — so many places shape nails poorly. Also free sugar foot scrub and funny movies playing while you get your treatments, the whole salon was cracking up! Great environment and great service!

This was my first time here & I will definitely be returning. I got a gel mani + pedi for approx. $ 50. The gel mani was amazing. I do not recall the person working on my nails, but my gel mani lasted for weeks without the chipping look or without my hair getting stuck underneath the polish. She cleaned my nails extremely well prior to me putting my fingers back in the light & therefore, my nails came out looking like acrylics. I LOVE the look of acrylics, but I just cannot deal with them anymore.
My pedi also came out very nice. Definitely worth the visit.

I had my nails done today by Ha and she was so great! After visiting a few different nail salons and having OK service and never really being wow’d my nails I finally got a chance to try Josephine’s Salon.
I walked in without an appointment at about 11am on a Sunday and I was helped immediately. Staff was super friendly and I never felt rushed while they were assisting me. They offer coffee and water to customers, they have free parking behind the salon, and have a lot of different color options.
I really wanted to try something fun and Ha was totally willing to be creative and play with my nails. She must be a perfectionist because she spent a lot of time on my acrylics to make sure they were just how I wanted them. I will definitely be returning here for all future nail needs!

Tonia and Mary are the best! I come here all the time, they are so good I introduced my mom to this place! She see’s David. They are caring and really know how to do your nails. I often get many compliments when people see my nails. The pricing is reasonable for the location and my gel nails last 3 weeks. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean, nice place to get their nails done!

I love this place! They always take extra time to make sure they have done their best. I am extra hard on my nails, I work with my hands a lot. When I get gels done here they always last me at least 3 weeks. Anytime I have gone anywhere else they chip and peel with in the first week or so. I also like that they don’t sand down the tops of my nails very much if at all. That way when the gels come off my nails are not weak. I live on the westside but think it is worth it to drive to studio city!

I’m giving this nail salon 2 stars bc they speak such poor English when trying to up charge you for everything that it’s too confusing. I ended up spending 56 $ on a mani/​pedi which should have been 40 $ at the most. I usually get gels and I spent the same amount without gels. And the lady messed up the mani by putting the drying machine on top of my nails twice when I kept trying to tell her id do it so it wouldn’t screw up. She didn’t listen to me so it ended up smudging everywhere. I did like how they took their time and didn’t rush the job which is why I gave 2 stars bc most nail salons rush like crazy.

My favorite nail salon in studio city and all
Of LA. Josephine is so sweet and talented. The salon is beautiful, clean and well kept– definitely one of the spots that I miss most in studio city.

This is now my 4+ time coming and it definitely feels like home! They were a little busy when we went in but with a little time and patience they were able to accommodate us and have us on our way! I love that they have Netflix streaming and depending on if someone suggested a movie before you or not, they let you choose what you want to watch (this is a perk for me, or anyone, who is having anything more than a normal polish done because it takes time)
always friendly and we always leave happy. It’s become a tradition between my dad and I and I’m glad we found a consistent place we can go to for our Father/​DAughter outings

Seriously Recommend Tania! The sweetest nail technician I’ve ever met (I’m not exaggerating) she always listens to how I want my nails and is so welcoming.
If you haven’t been here before, you should really try it. You won’t be disappointed!

This salon gave me nail mold TWICE!
I had to see a doctor the second time
(Acrylics the first time-​gel nails the second
occurrence)-because they continued to
cover the problem up. My entire nail had
to be removed & so I called the Salon so
no one else would suffer this error.
I went in later expecting an
apology, refund & to show them the damage & was escorted out of the Salon & told they «Can’t work on injured» people-​for liability reasons”-like I’d let them touch me again!

I wanted to make sure I tried this place out a few times before I wrote my review. I feel like nail salons can be tricky to review because your experience can be different each time you go. You may get someone who’s great and does an amazing job and then go again and get someone who does a horrible job.
This place gets 5 stars because it’s clean, it has excellent customer service, and it does an A+ job. Appointment are not required here and they have fit me in at the last minute and took me as a walk in. Tonia who helped me on several occasions is always so sweet and friendly. She makes sure you are happy and does the best job making sure your taken care of.
I keep coming back because they do an amazing job on my nails and toes every time. I get gel nails and they last forever. On two occasions I got special designs on my nails (as you can see in the pictures) and they also lasted forever. Nikki did the nail art by looking at pictures that I gave her and copying the design. She could do anything I asked her to. I got so many compliments on the nails she designed! Haa has also done my nails and did a great job.
On top of being a nice salon they offer complimentary water, coffee, and phone chargers for your phones. Every week they have a new movie playing in the salon. They play popular movies like Coming to America, Pretty women, Safe Haven and other chick flicks! I love that!
Also this place is a little pricey, definitely more than I’m used to paying but 100% worth it. I have never been happier with my nails and they last so long. However I don’t usually get my nails done in Studio City and this city is a bit more expensive than near my house.
They have parking lot in the back that can get a little crowded so if possible I like to park on the street. Lastly a lot of their customers are very nice. It’s always a pleasant experience!

I appreciate this nail salon, even though it’s obvious their native language is not English all the employees make an effort to speak for the most part English when explaining services, fees, or conversations. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about foreign languages however, I often feel embarrassed when entering into a salon where no one can communicate with me in my language on any of the services. Immediately I become uncomfortable with the environment and tend to not return for future visits.
The technician that worked on my hands (Ha) was extra sweet. She seemed pleased to help me and do her best on my nails. I’ve had lots of gel nail manicures however not as lasting as Josephine’s. She was incredibly detailed and articulate with her work. She had great eye contact, communication skills and a real interest in me returning for future services. The salon was well maintained, clean and designed creatively. Can’t wait to return and try a new great color or even a new design, she’s also amazing with nail art!
