Hugo’s Tacos

Excellent tacos at a convenient walk-​up location. I love their salsas. Everything I’ve ever had here has been great. I can see myself coming back often when I’m in the area.

Just tried Hugo’s tacos for the first time. We ordered tacos, nachos, and a burrito. Everything was dry. I saw zero salsa on all that we ordered. Plus if we hadn’t checked they would have not given us our churros (the one good thing). Waste of $ 30. Too bad too, since Hugo’s restaurant is so good! I won’t be going to Hugo’s tacos again.

You make me sooooo sad. It’s a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance that my order will be correct. You guys disappointed like No other tonight. This was supposed to be an order of nachos with soyrizo, rice, and salsa. However… I ended up with a big ass pile of chips, with some beans slapped on top, plus a spoonful of soyrizo slapped on top of that, with a few shreds of vegan cheese semi melted on top of that. NO RICE (which I paid extra for) AND THE WRONG SALSA!
I’ve never had nachos like this from you guys. Just a pile of crap.
I watched your extremely disgruntled and unenthusiastic employee toss around our food— look out the window at us and not give 2 $h!ts at how she was making everything. Only because I was hungry, did I eat them… But I gave up after ¼ of the way through.
The only great thing about this experience was the cashier who I adore and is so sweet, polite, and knows I’m a regular. You NEED to address how your employees handle themselves and the orders. No excuse for this. No plans to return anytime soon with this type of service.

I was excited to try Hugo’s tacos after having such a delicious meal at Hugo’s and it definitely didn’t let me down. For a taco stand, there were plenty of options. I got two GF tacos– one with chicken/​pico and the other with the soy chorizo/​honey chipotle. The honey chipotle salsa was too hot for me (I’m a whimp, I know) but the tacos were great no matter what– perfectly seasoned and tender. Follow up with the churros! You will not be disappointed

Living in LA you rarely find a stand out taco place. But this is it. I always can tell a place is going to be good based off the rampaging line around the corner, and zero parking. Hugo’s is top 3 taco spots I’ve ever had in my lifetime. No exaggeration. The chipotle mango salsa is a must try, almost like a sweet and spicy bbq sauce. Tortillas are homemade quality, not the generic thin and store bought type.

I ordered the breakfast burrito and in a breakfast burrito, it comes with eggs. Let’s just say they should have called it a bean and rice burrito because I had absolutely 0 egg! This isn’t the first time this has happened and I usually don’t complain about these things but fool me twice shame on me. So I needed to share this with the public, if you order a breakfast burrito just be aware you’re ordering a rice and bean burrito.

I love tacos. Seriously, «I hate tacos, says no Juan ever» — right? Haha :)
Anyway, the food is good for fast food. Is it worth the price? If you’re hungry, sure. However, If Chipotle was nearby, I’d go there instead. I guess the only reason why people rave about this place is because your supporting your local burrito spot and they like the «vegan» option here.
Again, it’s nothing special but when I am in a mood for a burrito, I’ll go here cause it’s near my home but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.
My suggestion is the chicken and steak burritos.

The best. I love their bowls with fake meat! The parking is shitty so be prepared to be patient haha. I also recommend the vegan yogurt and teas

We came here around 930pm on a Friday night. No line. Thank goodness. I love the tacos here but decided to get a chicken burrito this time. It was good. I would get sour cream to add some flavor to it. lol. Yes I will return.

I tried Hugo’s for the first time, and unfortunately, I was not impressed. I’m willing to give them another shot, but my first experience was just OK. I ordered a steak bowl, frozato, and a churro. Everything was mediocre, but the frozato. The frozato was the most enjoyable part of my meal.
The steak in the steak bowl had a lot of flavor, but the pieces were chopped up really small. I found myself wanting more. Also, the rice was under cooked. I do not enjoy hard rice. One positive I can say about the bowl is that the white beans are delicious.
The churro was also pretty disappointing. It was over fried. I enjoy a crispy, yet chewy churro, but this churro was really hard. Thankfully, the amazing frozato made up for the churro.
All in all, I would return solely for the frozato and the white beans. I’m willing to give this place another try. I hope my next experience at Hugo’s Tacos is better.

A friend of mine brought over Hugo’s Tacos for dinner last night and I really enjoyed it. I wasn’t really thrilled about it as she was but the food was delicious nonetheless. I got the al pastor, steak, and carnitas tacos. I wish they put more onions and cilantro on my taco as they really do load up on meat in that baby. I think next time I’ll update my review for a time when I go there and eat them fresh.
But with a favorite taco spot in mind, it’s hard to enjoy any tacos outside them.
For tacos near the boulevard, I’d go back :)

This was our favorite place! But today we went and it wasn’t good, we ordered 3 nacho grandes, the chips were stale, the beans were mashed instead of whole and overall just didn’t taste as good as they normally do. I told the girl at the front how bad the nachos were and she just argued with me that nothing has changed. Now we don’t feel good, maybe food poisoning? I have to find a new taco place now :(

The menu is great and food is delicious from fresh ingredients. Vegan options a plenty and all super yummy. Buuuuut… If they’re busy, which they almost always are around regular meal hours/​weekends, they DO NOT pay attention. The staff is very cordial and always correct their mistakes but if there’s a line and you want your food quickly and made correctly the first time, go somewhere else.
By the way, I love this place so much I gave them 3 chances but this is the 4^th time in a row I wind up waiting for them to make my meal twice. Sigh.

The first couple of times I came here I thought the food was just alright. I used to 2 blocks away though, which gave me a good excuse to keep giving them a try and then it hit… The carnitas tacos with the honey chipotle salsa are where it’s at. From that point on there was nothing else I ordered here. They became a regular thing for lunch and often when I’d go out of town. They make great travel tacos to bring to the airport rather than suffer through your often limited and poor options. Their horchatas are great too. There is almost always a line here. Calling ahead helps.

Sure take all my money… I got plenty to waste. I will never understand why places want to charge you triple the price to eat healthy. It’s not that vegetables cost so much more is it?
This place is a little taco stand off the 101 freeway. I like Hugo’s restaurant so I thought the food here would be pretty good. Hugo’s restaurant is also known to have healthy food options. On their menu, Hugo’s offers a Breakfast burrito at a reasonable $ 5.25 but then they charge $ 2 for chicken, $ 2 extra dollars to make it egg whites and $ 1 extra for a whole wheat tortilla. The cashier forgot to mention these little price increases when she told me the price! I asked about the veggies but those were $ 4 extra too.
Service from cashier… full of an Oh Well Attitude was the worst. Also if there is an up charge for an item, don’t you think that they should mention it? I ended up getting 3 tacos for $ 8. Chicken was mixed with this weird sauce that just wasn’t what I was expecting. They weren’t horrible but nothing worth going back.

What to say about Hugo’s ?! First of all its walking distance from my house ! Second it’s open late !! Third it’s so inexpensive but you get GREAT AUTHENTIC FOOD !!! I’ve tried sooooo many things on the menu !
The veggie burger = AMAZING
soy chorizo nachos = AMAZING
veggie burrito = AMAZING
Breakfast Quesadilla = AMAZING
The list can go on and on ! They also have the best GUACAMOLE IN STUDIO CITY !!! oh yes and the Jamaica juice is so refreshing ! I used to make it a home and it takes a while so now I just buy it from here :) ! Happy Days !!!

We came here strictly for dessert after eating lunch elsewhere. Their Frozato, which is a vegan soft serve (ice cream), comes in vanilla, chocolate, or swirl, in a cup or cone. I got a swirl cone. #teamswirl! It was cold and creamy; perfect for a hot summer day.
(Beware that the Frozato contains soy and cashew nut allergens.)
This is my first time at this Hugo’s location. They have lots of vegan food options. Their menu displays via designated symbols which items are naturally vegan and which have a vegan option available. I do want to go back and try their tortas next time.
The parking lot at this location is really small, with only a handful of spaces. There are a couple of outside tables if you want to eat there, but it’s basically a carry-​out only establishment. The full-​service Hugo’s Restaurant is literally across the street if you’re looking for a dine-​in experience.

One of the reasons I’ve always been willing to pony up a bit more for Hugo’s is their fresh ingredients and lively salsas. I usually take my burrito all the way to habanero or arbol, and sweeten it a bit with a side of honey chipotle.
The last few visits, the process has taken about 20 minutes. The line moves way too slowly, and sometimes stops altogether if a phone order comes in since the cashier handles the phone as well. Last night we came 30 minutes before closing, had another 20 minute wait, and our burritos were very light. Since they had already shut down the grill, I figure they were rationing materials. With several slow service experiences and now skimping on the product, I don’t think I’ll be paying the Hugo’s premium for the foreseeable future.

Tonight’s taco Tuesday we decided to go out!
3 soft chicken tacos with honey chipotle sauce, make it a meal with organic basmati Mexican rice, organic beans and a drink; $ 22 for 2 meals.
* the rice and beans are the perfect little portion
* honey chipotle and tomatillo jalapeño salsa are amazing
* they have outdoor seating for about 12
* order online through Chow Now and your food will be ready when you arrive

Ok so I haven’t come to Hugo’s Tacos in a couple years because the last time I ordered carry out, I found something that resembled like a mosquito in my nachos. I decided to give them another shot again because it had been a while. We went here for lunch and it was delicious! The ONLY thing I didn’t like was that a few of my chips were burned from them putting the nachos in the oven for too long. The honey chipotle salsa is my absolute favorite. I love Hugos Tacos because they have Gluten Free options. The guacamole is AMAZING and I love that they have heaters on the outside patio. The prices are very affordable for the amount of food you get too. I did miss this place and would consider coming back again to get my Hugo’s Tacos fix! Try it!
