818 Carpet Cleaners

If I could, I would give them –5 stars. I wish I had looked up this company on Unilocal before I used them, because all the negative prior reviews are spot on.
The company rep that showed up was rude, and rushed out of the door as soon as he could. Now I know why, because 5 minutes after he left, all the stains he ‘removed’ had returned.
I can only assume that this company is actively trying to lose customers.

This company used to be amazing. They did a terrific job for me several times at a reasonable price. It was a partnership and one owner always came to do my cleanings.
The last couple times the owner didn’t show up and I recently found out that that he passed away. However his business partner is now ripping off people and is impersonating him.
I will never use them again.

I thought I was going to have to replace my carpet after one of my pets got ill and did horrible things of every nature in every room with carpet. It was so awful that I was embarrassed to even ask a carpet cleaning company to even deal with the mess!
Luckily I tried this company before assuming the worst, because Eli (I highly recommend him personally) came in, didn’t make me feel bad, explained what he would need to do in detail, gave me a price, and went to work like a champ.
He called me upstairs (I really thought he was going to tell me he couldn’t fix it) after a bit, and there was not ONE spot, one smudge, one stain left! I mean there was caked on «stuff» that I never thought would be coming up. AMAZED is the only thing I can say. The very best I have ever seen. I will be calling them on a regular basis now.

Too bad I didn’t check Unilocal reviews before buying a groupon. Luckily I got my money back from groupon after I told them how unprofessional these people are.
Very similar to the past reviews. Terrible service. Getting on the phone is a nightmare. Not to mention the fact that the guy is a LIAR and kept telling me that he was 5 minutes away, after 1.5 hrs of waiting I told him not to show up anymore I had somewhere else I needed to be.
I rescheduled, this time he actually showed up. As soon as he came in he wanted to charge $ 50 extra because of the quality of my carpet. There is nothing wrong with my carpet, it’s not even a year old. Clearly this guy is a scam and wants to make more money than the discounted rate he is offering with groupon.
Never ever use this company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVERRRR. I wish I had read these reviews myself before purchasing the Groupon for this company. And I reaaaally wish there was an option for no stars.
Just as everyone else who has left a review here, I had bought a Groupon deal for 2 rooms at 44 $. I blocked out an entire morning for the appointment, the guy showed up, and without even looking at the second of two rooms he told me that he had to do the «deep clean» service as opposed to the regular service that I paid for because of a 1×1 sq. ft. stain, and that it would be ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS on top of the 44 I had already paid him! I told him that I understand that that is his recommendation, but I just wanted the normal service that I paid for, even if the results in that area were not that great. He then REFUSED to do any cleaning to my carpets. I asked if there was a manager that I could speak to and he told me he was the OWNER, that there was no one else above him and that I was «SHIT OUT OF LUCK» that he «DIDN’T NEED ME BECAUSE HE WOULD FIND PEOPLE WHO WILL PAY THE EXTRA.»
So apparently this is his MO for every client he goes to, and he only works for the ones that fall for his SCAM. I told him that I already paid for services, and that I want the services I paid for to be performed. HE THEN TOLD ME THAT I WAS A «FAT B! TCH AND NEEDED TO LOSE WEIGHT» THEN PROCEEDED TO WALK OUT OF MY APARTMENT LAUGHING. And let me tell you, if I’m fat, this guy is a freaking WHALE.
I have never once been so DISRESPECTED IN MY OWN HOUSE, he is honestly lucky I didn’t take my gun out and shoot him after that comment, but I digress.
I then followed him outside of my building to obtain a refund, and found that he doesn’t even have a professional van, not even a sticker on the side to advertise his business… Just a shitty little minivan with a day laborer in it. He told me to call the number on the Groupon to obtain my refund. He then sat in his car listening to me describe the situation that just unfolded to the very understanding representative, all the while LAUGHING in amusement of his BAD BUSINESS ETHICS.
I can not even believe that this happened to me. I have never experienced a business owner who was so RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I strongly suggest to anyone who has had a similar experience to file a complaint with Groupon/​Living Social (the Groupon representative I spoke to said that if more than one or two complaints come in that they would take down his listing) and to file a complaint with the better business bureau as well.

Where was my professional customer service? Where is my guarantee?

Okay, so again, some less than wonderful customer service.
He was a hour late, but this was okay because he came the same day that I called him, (which I was really appreciative of)
My Groupon voucher was for any TWO rooms up to 200 sq ft. and all I wanted done was my white shag area rug in my living room which is a 9×12. He told me it would be $ 80.00 on TOP of my $ 50 voucher. There were NO stains, nothing. He just said he only works for a profit and walked out.
hahahaha I am laughing because I have had just the worst luck with carpet cleaners in the LA area.
Do not use this company unless you don’t mind hidden charges upward of $ 80.

DO NOT USE 818 CARPET CLEANERS EVER!!! Bought a Living Social Deal. Made an appointment, they showed up 2 hours late. He walked in and tried to upsell me 25 a square foot to deep clean. Told him to just do what I paid for nothing extra, he walked to the door and said its not worth his time and to call Living Social for a refund. If I have to waste my time waiting for them to show up, he could have wasted his time doing a job he was paid for!!! Wish I could leave a negative Star instead of 1. Cant wait for Karma to do its thing.

I was able to get an appointment right away. They cleaned my dining chairs really well. He mentioned other services they offer but didn’t push to have them done.
I would call again.

So I copy and paste my Unilocal review onto LivingSocial, and got a response from the «Merchant Solutions» department.
This was their actual response:
«Good let me know if you want to work for me with your rug doctor. promise to send you only to customers like you»
So um, I’m calling LivingSocial because obviously something here is wrong and if the company can’t solve it…

DO NOT buy a Groupon from this company! This guy totally scammed me and I saw it coming the minute he walked in my door 4 HOURS LATE!!!
The Groupon I bought was for carpet cleaning for 2 rooms. I paid $ 44 for the Groupon and somehow had to pay an additional $ 56 to get my carpets clean. Otherwise, he said, he would only be using water instead of the product to clean my carpets.
AND all he told me the whole time was how he is the best carpet cleaner in LA. Yes, if you like being scammed, he is! Save the $ 100 and go elsewhere!

Awful experience and particularly horrible customer service from a disrespectful sexist. As Arne said, I too would give 0 stars if that was an option.
1. He showed up 1 hour late with no notice. I contacted him at the 7 minute late mark and he said he’d be there soon. When I complained that he was late and that it was an issue because I was in turn taking time out of work to deal with him, he said that «wasn’t his problem.» This is how the experience started.
2. Then, he looked around and said the total cost would in fact be $ 120, b/​c he had to use some «enzymes» for the pet stains. I was fine with an additional cost for an additional service outside of the living social deal, but then he claimed I owed $ 120 minus the $ 44 I paid through living social.
3. When he was done (which was 20 minutes later instead of the 45 minutes he said it’d take, which makes me wonder how he cut the time down so much), we got into the economics of the deal again. He did not understand his own coupon and kept trying to pass the coupon off as a rebate at best, which makes NO SENSE. Why would I just pre-​pay an arbitrary amount for carpet cleaning up front if there was no benefit (i.e. a coupon). I tried over and over to explain how he sold a coupon for the value of $ 110 and so my balance should be $ 10 and not $ 86. He COULD NOT understand this concept. He has NO CLUE what he sold through living social — or perhaps he did and was playing the dumb card. He couldn’t even argue back, b/​c well, he had no argument — he instead tried to focus on his «service» — which was completely irrelevant to the issue. If he thought his service was so great, he should have valued it at a price much higher than $ 120… anyway… I don’t want to help him run his business.
4. Then he started telling me he had to make it to his next appointment so the lady doesn’t complain like I did. Of course, he said that with a snarky attitude. In the process of me dealing with the paperwork, which required me to lower my head to read/​sign, he looked at my boyfriend and said «ugh, women.» Things obviously got more heated from there and I will save Unilocal of the details of the final goodbye.
Long story short, this is not someone that should be in business. If you bought the living social deal, I highly recommend asking for a refund and not even wasting your time with this man. If you are thinking of getting the deal, DON’T DO IT. And, if you are just thinking of paying full price for him, this is not someone you should open your doors to. There are many other respectful businesses to choose from.

First things first! I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS COMPANY.
I have NEVER been or seen so much DISRESPECT to myself and my friends in all my life. There aren’t enough words to describe what happen today.
In his explanation of Service + product = Cost it Didn’t make Sense. His story change and what he was explaining was to long to write. –BIGGEST ISSUE SO FAR– (along with other situations like so many have mentioned in there reviews)
Ill add this… As my friend was trying to understand the cost he looks at me when her head was down and said…“WEMON! Pfff.”(In a condescending and completely disrespectful mannor.)
FYI your customer is never wrong especially if your LATE and RUDE.
I would not TRUST this MAN ALIONE or 818 cleaners in the fact, and it makes me reevaluate living socials ability to work in conjunction with quality companies. I’m just glad I was there who knows what else could have happened.

This company is a sham. I would give them 0 stars if that was an option.
I bought a Living Social deal for 2 rooms and a hallway and made an appointment at 3 on Saturday, and they did not show up. I called at 3:20 and was told they would be there in 20 minutes, then I called again at 4:15 and was very rudely told the same thing and hung up on.
Around 5:00 they finally contacted me and said that they had mixed up and thought my appointment was at 6, I tried to be understanding and told them that they could come then and was assured that they would arrive at 6:00.
Then, at 6:40 I called them back because no one had shown up to my apartment again! They told me that they were just too busy and they would come in the morning (even though when I tried to make the original appointment they told me they did not work on Sundays). I told them I had been waiting for them for over 3 ½ hours and the morning would not work for me and asked when they would anticipate showing up that night, they said it would be over 30 minutes, I again told them I had been waiting for so long how could they make me wait anymore and he said that I had no idea how to run a business and they are just too busy. This company is the most unprofessional company I have ever encountered.
I will never be using this company again and no one else should be using them either.
BE WARNED!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!!

This business is clearly a scam. I bought the Living Social and called the number to make an appointment. The person answering the phone, someone whom I can only assume runs the place, was very rude and informed me that if they showed up and «decided» that the carpet needed a «deeper clean» they would charge by the foot. I said «well, it shouldn’t be a problem this carpet is new,» and he made me aware that only they could determine that and we are subject to an extra fee if they decide it needs it. He also hung up on me. Obviously, the customer service and business practices of this place are highly intolerable. I don’t even know why Living Social wouldn’t do a better job of vetting this guy. Do yourself a favor, don’t waste your time and money. On my way to a refund and a headache.

Fast efficient service! My carpet is SO clean!

Bought 2 rooms and hallway on living social. Guy came in and asked if I wanted to add stairs which I wasn’t interested. One minute later said he needed more money to do the job. Carpet too dirty and claimed it was Berber which it is not. He wanted $ 100 more!! Scam, absolute waste of time. Do not buy this!

The service guy was very sweet. He did arrive an hour late however he gave me a discount due to that. His results and personality made up for that. Highly recommended!

I was very pleased with the service I received and the results of the cleaning. I purchased a very expensive sofa that had ink stains on it and I was very concerned that cleaning would destroy the delicate fabric. I was reassured by the owner of 818 cleaners that his new method of cleaning would not only be effective but safe for my sofa. Well, he was right! The sofa was beautifully clean, smelling fresh and even sanitized! I would definitely use 818 carpet cleaners again and I highly recommend them.

818 Carpet Cleaners did a great job on my La-​ZBoy microfiber couch! I’d been meaning to get it cleaned forever — and now I’m super happy to see how fresh and new it looks. They also spot cleaned my carpet and cleaned the cushion of an Ikea chair — all for same price.
