The Cheese Shop

History

Established in 1965.

The Cheese Shop started on the back porch of the Hershberger family in the early 1960’s. Mr. Hershberger’s desire to share the quality cheeses produced in Ohio with the residents of Stuarts Draft inspired him to begin selling them on his back porch. In the early 1980’s the Beiler family purchased The Cheese Shop and expanded the bulk foods selection, moving the store into the basement of his home. The present store was built in the early 1990’s and allowed The Cheese Shop to offer sliced cheeses and deli meats. Today, our customers walk from their homes nearby or visit us from as far away as California and Europe. The helpful staff at The Cheese Shop is happy to answer customers’ cooking and baking questions, even if it means searching the internet while the customer continues shopping. Many of our spices are priced less than half of those found in the supermarket. Our high quality and unique cheeses are also offered at bargain prices when compared with most other stores.
