History

Established in 2005.

Home Grown PC Repair was officially started in March of 2005. However, the owner had been working on computers in his spare time since January 2000.

The business was originally started to allow the owner, Derrick Gingerich, to stay home with his newborn son, Jayson. Since his wife, Kathy, was teaching 1^st grade in a school that she wanted to remain in, Derrick decided to leave his job at McKee Foods Corporation to start his own business from home. Home Grown PC Repair is still operated from Derrick’s home office, and there are no immediate plans to move.

While the business was originally intended just to provide extra money to pay bills, it has now grown into a full-​time opportunity. Despite the recession over the last few years, Home Grown PC Repair has continued to grow rapidly, and has now served well over 700 unique customers, many of them coming back on a regular basis when help is needed.

Derrick G.

Business Owner

Derrick Gingerich moved to Augusta County with his family 6 months after his birth, and has spent the last 34 years right here. I have been married to Kathy Gingerich for almost 11 years, and we have a nearly 6 year old son, Jayson.

Derrick graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Information Systems Technology, specializing in Computer Networking. He uses this knowledge along with many hours of research and reading to keep up to date with the latest technology.

Kathy teaches 1^st grade in Waynesboro, where she grew up. She has been employed by Waynesboro Public Schools for 10 years.

Jayson is now in Kindergarten and loves reading and math. He is especially attracted to numbers.

I feel very blessed to live in such a beautiful place as I have had many opportunities to travel the world including Guatemala, Belize, Spain, China, and India. However, I’ve never wanted to live anywhere else, and I hope to be here in Augusta County for a long time.
