Description

Specialties

We are a full service landscaping business and garden center. Our landscaping business expands from being an Authorized Unilock Contractor, to pond installation, and landscape maintenance (including mulch topdressing).

At our location you can check out a pond, pondless waterfall, and samples of Unilock paver patios. We also carry bulk mulch, river rock, merrimac rock, red flint, and trap rock. Our selection of boulders extends numerous colors and textures.

Our Garden Center/Gift Shop has unique trees, shrubs, and perennials, as well as antiques, primitive décor, and gourmet food. Our outdoor accessories include stone birdbaths, wrought iron arches, and bubbling fountains. Inside the shop we can cure about any problems ailing your plants and make them look great! For gift ideas, our gift shop is full of antiques, unique planters, and canvases for about any need. Our country home feel is a great atmosphere to visit.

History

Established in 1960.

The business was started by Dan Salata with just a small box of evergreens in the back of his truck. Dan and Anne built up the business, until they retired from it and let their son Greg take over. Now Greg and his wife Arlette are running and managing the business. Currently their daughter Afton and her husband Steve (both graduates of Southern Illinois University Carbondale) have joined the business. Three generations, college degrees, and a lot of experience later Danchris nursery is a great place to support family and a local business.
