Kiddie Academy of Streamwood

Our daughter has been here for about 6 months and she is thriving! They have a great staff, warm and caring. Always smiling. Never looking frazzled or like they don’t want to be there. For the cost you aren’t nickel-​and-​dimed about your hours, it’s just 6:30 — 6:30, and their menu is robust. Some other places we visited had basic food (cereal at least 3 breakfasts a week, for example) but here there is a huge variety of real and fresh foods. Love the app with pictures every day. They recommended showing her the pictures and talking about what she was doing at the beginning (she began daycare at 2) and it really helped her adjust. They will be honest with you if there are issues but they are respectful and helpful with progress and other reports, offering strategies to help the kids. The director knows every child’s name and many will run up and hug her when they see her. That was a really good sign. Altogether a fantastic place!

My son isn’t a cookie cutter kid by any means. He has a little bit of a speech delay and he wasn’t 100% potty trained when we brought him here. He’s also pretty introverted, but he is brilliant and he likes to work alone. At first I liked the program and I appreciated getting pictures of him every day. What I did not like were the teachers. One teacher in particular just made a point to tell me how terrible my son was doing every single day. I would get calls to pick him up for tantrums and throwing puzzle pieces and allegedly hitting other kids (to which HE told me he either got hit first, or he was defending his friend who was getting picked on by another kid). Every single day I got a phone call about his behavior. I felt like they absolutely didn’t want to work with him at all, like they treated him like he was a burden, and that they just didn’t want him there because he was a little different. I’ve seen a few times when I would come to pick him up that he would either be crying, or he would start crying and the teachers would be standing in the corner talking, or wouldn’t pay any attention to him. Other kids would run up to him to console him, but not the teachers.
I now have him at another similar preschool and he’s doing great. Within 2 weeks they helped him get fully potty trained. He doesn’t wear diapers anymore and that’s only after 2 weeks of being there. He’s also opened up A LOT as far as speech in the past few months after leaving KA. They actually work with him at his new school. I’ve had zero reports of him hitting, tantruming, causing problems, or anything bad in general. They say he’s a great kid, he’s learning fast, and he gets along with EVERYONE, even the kids who are super introverted like he is. They’re very patient and very willing to work with your child, which is how a daycare/​preschool that you pay as much as you would pay for rent/​mortgage should be.
All in all I’m really disappointed with the extreme lack of understanding and ability to work with kids that are just a little different. He’s been to two other daycares outside of this one and it’s just in this one that he was demonized and portrayed as that problem trouble maker child. At the other two daycares I haven’t had any issues. I took him out because after getting so many phone calls I figured maybe he was having issues here and they would end up kicking him out for some reason anyways. But taking him out was a great decision because since then he has blossomed so much. My advice to anyone looking to go here is if your child is a little introverted, shy, speech delayed, to just look else where because they will not get the attention they need here, the teachers won’t hesitate to call you over every single thing imaginable, and they won’t hesitate to tell you how terrible your kid is doing each day. There are other daycares in the area for the same price with the same curriculum that do a much better job and have way more patient teachers.

We moved to the Elgin area 3 months ago and I couldn’t be more happy of the programming my son receives.
Kiddie Academy is a very warm and friendly atmosphere. My son has had problems with transitions in the past and did not like going to school. His transitions have gotten so much better and now he asks to go to school!
The curriculum is aligned to have him Kindergarten ready. It amazes me since I see his progress in a daily bases with the daily Tadpole reports (pictures of him participating in all curriculum activities) and just in him.
His teachers Ms. Amy and Ms. Julie Ann are truly the reason why my son is flourishing in developmental milestones and academics. They nurture and care for him as he was their own child. I can’t say enough of how my husband and I appreciate everything they do!
The center is very clean and inviting. The entire office staff are very knowledgeable about all their students that attend. They are very helpful and very inviting. All the holiday parties that they put on our very thoughtful and organized. They are very family centered, which makes dropping off my son a lot easier.
As a parent we want the best for our children, and I truly feel that Kiddie Academy is truly the best for ALL children. I love this place and wish my son started earlier!

My son was there for two years, and my older children were there during summer break for two seasons. It is an awesome school, very caring teachers, and staff. My daughter is a type 1 diabetic, and I was very worried about finding her excellent summer care, but they did an amazing job handling her. My other son is autistic, and again, just fabulous. I cannot recommend Kiddie Academy more highly, and I have been at other daycares and have used nanny services. It is also very very clean.
Your work day will be stress free with Kiddie Academy watching your children.

My son has been going to Kiddie Academy since March ‘10.
As any concerned parent, I did a lot of research and visited a ton of places. By far this was the best place! As soon as I walked in I knew this was it. The staff is super nice. They keep the academy very clean at all times. The teachers are well educated and really care about the kids.
Here’s an example:
On my son’s first day we were greeted by the owner/​director. She was carrying another little boy who was also new to the academy. You could see that he had been crying a lot for his mommy. However, the director was very kind and consoling to the little boy. She had been carrying him ever since his mommy had dropped him off. This made me feel great! I knew that if my son would start crying they would do their best to make him more comfortable.
At the end of the day, the teacher told me she had rubbed my son’s back to help him take a nap. How awesome is that!!! My son loves his teacher very much and calls her his friend.
I am very grateful to have found a place that gives me peace of mind.
