Love the home cooking! Huge portions. My favorite is the liver and onions. The pie is amazing. I love the peanut butter pie.

After a long day of golf, we were looking for a place to eat in Strawberry Point. I wasn’t sure what we would find, but came across this establishment on the way through town. The place was packed when we got in there after 1pm. The service was wonderful. The waitress was very friendly and was quick to get our orders. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. My golf partner expected a few more French fries for the price, but couldn’t eat them all anyway… a great place in a small town. The pie is supposed to be excellent, but I was full!

We knew we would be hitting Strawberry Point mid-morning and figured we would be able to find a place to eat. We passed on a couple places coming in from the west, and hit Back Home because it looked like a decent place. There were five others already seated around the wonderful wood fireplace. We took a seat closer to the door and the were immediately greeted and given menus and placed orders for coffee. He brought the nice hot java and also brought half a newspaper. He then shortly came back with the other half and took our orders. We both ordered eggs(one over medium, one over easy), hashbrowns, sausage(one with bacon) and toast. We were checked on once for more coffee(didn’t need it) and the food was up in a reasonable amount of time. The eggs were cooked perfectly. Sometimes we can’t tell the difference between medium and easy, but these were definitely different. Hashbrowns are also normally a gamble. These were cooked pretty good. I would have liked a little more brown, but I am sure they would accomodate next time. Everything was great, and the prices reasonable($ 15 total). Not sure how often we will be back, but definitely anytime we are in the area in the breakfast hours. Menu had full range of standard breakfast items, including a back page of omlettes.
